I don't know if there's any statistical accuracy in it but I get the impression that a lot of the more recent members are in their teens which, by my reckoning, would make them unable to remember anything before the mid-90s at the very earliest. That said, my last post was probably somewhat exaggerated, to be fair - there's plenty of people around here who are in their 20s and way upwards.Eudaemonian said:As someone whose birth year does not end in 9X or god forbid "ought X", I really hope this is not true of the site's demographics.thecaptainof said:Honestly, I don't think there's many people here old enough to remember much of the 90s, let alone the 80s. If they do, it'll be the end bit when this sort of thing wasn't fashionable so much
Well, that explains a lot. I was 10 when Darkwing Duck came out and I liked it well enough. So your intended audience is 10 year olds? No wonder it turns me off so much (as I'm almost 30 now).John Funk said:What, did you guys never watch TV in the 80s and 90s? That's like saying, "Gee, Darkwing Duck was great and all, but why did he have to be a DUCK? He'd have been much better as a crime-fighting human!"

There's been a couple of 'how old are you' polls, although the forum search engine gives no results and I can't be bothered to dig around right now. Maybe a staff member could give us a more realistic idea? Might be interesting to know, actually.
Haha, aren't we all... like my dad says, "growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional".George Palmer said:thecaptainof said:I don't know if there's any statistical accuracy in it but I get the impression that a lot of the more recent members are in their teens which, by my reckoning, would make them unable to remember anything before the mid-90s at the very earliest. mentally - 13.
I have to agree with Funk on this one, and it's not just because his name is "Funk"(-y).Furburt said:Yes, but it never even references it except to say 'You dogs' instead of 'You guys'John Funk said:What, did you guys never watch TV in the 80s and 90s? At least that's what I can glean from the trailer and the bios.
It just seems unnecessarily distracting, if it's only going to be aesthetic.
But hey, I'm no pro at this stuff, but I know what I find funny, and this wasn't to me.
But other people seem to like it, so it doesn't bother me.
I just won't watch it.
I agree that it'd be hard to cash in on this without sounding extremely corny. Good news is, 'Human Resources' is out of fashion nowadays and practically every company comes up with their own term for it. It could be called Personnel or People and Culture (one from an actual job I had), and avoid the whole issue entirely.Russ Pitts said:Yeah, you know, in retrospect, that doesn't make much sense does it? Proof, I guess, that we weren't necessarily going for "butt sniff" type humor. The chance to use that one pun just totally slipped my mind.Garaw said:I'm sort of wondering why their personnel department is called 'Human Resources'.
I suppose we could start calling it "canine resources," but we'd have to re-edit at least one episode, and I'm not sure I care that much. It's kind of an obvious joke, you know, so not really worth it.
If it helps, you can consider we're using the term "Human Resources" the same way people say "Kleenex" when they actually mean "store brand facial tissue." It's a specific term that has become generalized over time.
After that I can tell you about how I got my scars.Furburt said:How dare you, I'm perfectly reasoned and logical.FelixFox. said:For the record I'm not trying to force my opinion on you or anything I'm just giving my two cents. So don't go all crazy on me, I know what you're like.

Yeah.
Oh, hey, the characters in VGCats are game developers? I had no idea. I guess I've been missing that subtext the entire time.Lonely Swordsman said:Awesome. Because I always WANTED to see VGcats in a sitcom. Goddammit, this is going to suck.
I think he was more referring to the fact that both VGCats and Game Dogs are about snarky talking animals with stereotypical nerd/gamer personalities making jokes about videogames. Though I suppose if the dogs are developers they'll be making jokes about coding and being in an office?Susan Arendt said:Oh, hey, the characters in VGCats are game developers? I had no idea. First question: YES. Second question: Those old movies weren't necessarily bad, but they've spawned things that are bad. Like talking animal movies... Homeward Bound is a great movie, but it's maybe the only one. Beverly Hills Chihuahua is what Disney is making now.Littlenorwegians said:Really? Is an anthropomorphized animal on the internet instantly a furry thing?
I can see how they would like it, seeing how they're furries and all, but is any anthropomorphized animal part of furry-fandom?
Shouldn't you all be out flaming old Disney movies and hating on young kids for watching them and recent stuff containing anthropomorphized animals?
"Gone with the Wind" and "Glory" are both movies about the American Civil war, with soldiers and a scene where a town burns to the ground, but I guarantee they are vastly different films.shark attack said:I think he was more referring to the fact that both VGCats and Game Dogs are about snarky talking animals with stereotypical nerd/gamer personalities making jokes about videogames. I'd say the characters in this have more "office" personalities than "gamer," per se. There is certainly a lot of industry-referential humor, but this isn't about dogs living in their parents' basements eating Cheetos and drinking Mountain Dew.shark attack said:I think he was more referring to the fact that both VGCats and Game Dogs are about snarky talking animals with stereotypical nerd/gamer personalities making jokes about videogames.
