I haven't seen any response to this yet, so I'll go ahead and say the second quote's definitely from Ender's Game. The first might be, as well, but I'm not as sure about that one.

No love for me then, although you have made me curious. It's a bit broad for a quote, although I guess the hint of the mask helps. Sadly I still don't know, even after trying my hand at google, so I will be watching this thread for a while, see if I can learn something new.
