I'm interested in why you say this.

Do you feel the act of watching a stylized rape scene would influence the player? Or more along the lines of pure distaste?
Also, what are your feelings on the depictions of violent death and murder in Western media? Should games like Bully/Manhunt be forbidden to be made due to their influence on children and/or their distasteful imagery?

This is anime we're talking about here, so it's always going to be quite stylized, thinking back on Jim's video dealing with the stylized violence having little to do with actual real actual death and violence, could the same thing be said about anime rape scenes?

I think that Jim said it very well in his video about the difference rape and violence. The whole issue is very complex and I don't have the time or energy to cover it here, but I think Jim did a very good job of covering the basics in his video.

Well...much like the OP, this anime has apparently decided to throw their cards down onto the table hard enough to shatter said table and, in doing so, bisect Earth.

Christ. And I thought Elfen Lied was a kick in the jimmies...but my overall reaction? Meh.

Nothing I haven't seen in anime or, by extension, hentai before and, having experienced Gai-Rei Zero's opening episode, it isn't even the most shocking or affecting that I've viewed.

...That one made it difficult for me to sleep for some reason. Just...her head....and the dead eyes.

Here's the thing, the point I'm making isn't "sexy rape scenes are awesome!" but rather "the anime can still be awesome DESPITE having a sexy rape scene".

I watch many Sunrise anime, (including valrape lol) but I knew cross ange isn't going to be good based on the previews, and with Gundam Builders Try and Gundam: G no Reconquista airing in the same season.

I have seen it...it's not what you think it is..if you would see the episode then you would know what happened and that thing was necessary to build up her character and toughen her up as a soldier (it sounds harsh, but it's true..watch the preview and you shall see why).

Nostras are the lowest of the low and are treated as such. It wasn't anal rape..the boss of that facility that trains the soldiers did the necessary thing by taking her virginity to build her into an hard soldier..they don't have time for flowery princesess in the military. That is exactly what happened..if you knew the context you should have known this and not be offended by it.

If you think this is bad..you haven't read Berserk manga..but that one is Seinen & Dark.

While I understand your sentiments, at the same time, it can be argued that these murmuring are signs of something wrong. I simply want to gauge how people see it and it looks like with SAO, there is a bit of a divide though it seems to have reversed itself in episode 14.

For the record, I am watching the first episode of Cross Ange to gauge it and it feels like a copy in some ways: mecha from seed and seed destiny, character designs out of seed and code geass (the brother looks like clovis), the whole norma thing feels like a worse version of the coordinator/earth conflict and I don't understand this "light of mana" thing. So I assume it's an energy emitted by people able to alter information in the environment or exert a force on objects. Just say it's magic and lay the ground work there with the basic construction and how a norma would disrupt it; do they have a body that is unreceptive to the changes created or do they actively emit a disruption field?

regardless, my full thoughts will be up on a separate forum at a future time
