That sound you hear is millions of Sony fanboys screaming in horror. Or maybe it's Microsoft fanboys laughing hysterically. Not sure which.
I'm sorry, why? Last time I checked, Raidens adventure was characterisd by sub-par action and a high increase in discomfort.

I told you guys he was gonna do this. If you didn't stop complaining, he was gonna bring Metal Gear Raiden.
Hey hey. MGS2 was awesome. Much better than 4, though not quite as awesome as 3.

I'm calling sour grapes :p
The boss fights were shit. You can't really deny that, the only slightly interesting one was Vamp, and even that turned into little more than a relatively classic "wait for me to expose my weak point" boss fight (beyond maybe the shadow stitching, but even that gets lame when you figure out what he was doing). In contrast, you have The End, Laughing Octopus, and Psycho Mantis. The stealth gameplay itself lacked the intricacy of 3 and 4. As for the awkwardness, lets put it this way - "EMPTY LIKE YOUR SOUL!".
Still better than 4.
MG2>MG4>MG1>MG3

Ha!
Dijou rike it?
IMO, 3 > 2 > 1 = 4

Lists...everyone loves lists...

I think Funk has it right. I'm sad the Kojima was only able to have a coherent story...ONCE. And that was 3. It had the rare capability of invoking emotion.

I don't care much for the Metal Gear series, but I'm glad to have something to rub in the faces of my PS3-having Sony supporting friends. Not that I hate Sony or the PS3, but Microsoft is better.
Were you trying to make a parody of Julius Caesar there?

Brutus: "It's not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more".

I disagree with you on that Microsoft is better, but I don't feel like starting a flame war.

Pretty much. MGS3 is the only sub-par game in the main series. MGS4 is inferior to MGS1 until Shadow Moses at which point it becomes the best game ever when you're welling up, jumping up & down and screaming I REMEMBER THE ROUTE I REMEMBER THE GODDAMN ROUTE WHOSE FOOTPRINTS ARE THESE AND THE CHAFF GRENADES ARE STILL THERE OH GOD... or maybe that was just me? MGS2 is beyond mere video games; it's on another level altogether. But you really had to be there at the time - expecting the tanker, expecting Snake, expecting something relatively grounded... and then Big Shell begins and you hear the voice of "Snake" and things aren't quite right. But it must be Snake... the Colonel said Snake... is my hearing OK? And so it began.
That wasn't just you :D. The MGS4 experience was incredible, the dream sequence and re-visiting of Shadow Moses felt like such a nostalgic throwback I was constantly jumping and screaming "OMGOMHOPMHOMH MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES!!!11!!OTACON PISSED HIMSELF HERE!!!11!".

No, actually I was not attempting to parody anything.

And thank you for not attempting to start a flame war, that post already sparked two which I had to quickly put out.

Oh god, you have no idea. If you pan the camera above Snake like an overhead view, Snake starts saying "Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Overhead view! God, nothing like good old Overhead view!"

I cried awesome tears when I saw that.

MGS has been been on the Xbox for a while now. Only MGS4 was exclusive. No big deal.

And this is a spinoff starring the worst character in the entire series.
It's starring Emma?

Raiden was fine.
Word freaking up.

THE LINES IN THE SAND, THEY BLUR!! THE END IS NIGH!!! NEXT, HALO:ODST WILL HAVE A SIMULTANEOUS RELEASE ON XBOX 360, PS3, WII, DREAMCAST, AND THE COMMODORE 64!!

Anyways. This is pretty cool, given how much the PS3 lot worship the Metal Gear series. It's nice that the wealth is being spread around.

I'd like to hear of Syphon Filter's return to consoles more.
Same here.
Wait for toimmorrow, if Sony actually put that much time into announcing it.
Man, Syphon Filter... that was like Splinter Cell except it was fun. It also had a decent multiplayer for the time.
Don't think they will announce it. I would certainly be a plus, though.

I think Raiden's badassness was confirmed about the part where with no arms he fought off a horde of Frogs by holding a katana in his teeth.

Just throwing it out there...

HOLY SHIT. I'm not one to openly swear in all caps without a reason, so let me explain:

Guys, you can cut certain obsolete parts out of quotes. It's all cool. It's called snipping.

Don't quote a entire conversation that's been going back and forth for three pages: just quote the last bit of it that applies to you. It saves on the clutter a TON.

Now, for my thoughts: This was a neat announcement, 360 conspirators finally got what they wanted, that is all.

I don't mind Metal Gear Solid going on the 360, but as a fan for the series I hope it's not exclusive for the 360. I'm not getting both a PS3 and a 360.

Like I said, if they aren't too busy announcing something else. They've already told Jaffe not to officially announce Twisted Metal whatever-the-hell-we're-calling-it-now (I'm in favour of Blood Black), so there's a few projects they do have that they're not spending the time on unveiling.
I'd assume that Twisted Metal isn't being unveiled because it isn't ready yet and at a rather early stage of development (It should hit around Fall/Winter next year I guess). Sony definetly have enough good games to fill their time, let's hope they choose wisely...and by wisely I mean Trico...lots of it.
