When? How could I have missed that? Are you sure that Metal Gear Solid is/was on Xbox Live Arcade because I just don't see it? There are some rumors but no actual release.
My mistake, turns out the original MGS on XBLA was a rumour, don't know how I thought it was actually on XBLA.

Microsoft looking to port MGS:4.

Sony NOT looking to port Halo.

Enough said.
Not really, I'm failing to see your point.
My point is that if the 360 line-up of games is really as great as the fanboys make it out to be, why are there suddenly all these posts dying for it to come out, as honestly, from what I've read, they already have the "greatest game of all time" in Halo 3 *cough* major disapppointment *cough* why on earth would they want some 'crappy' PS3 exclusive like Metal Gear Solid 4?

On the other hand, Halo 3 isn't being really missed in the glut of good FPS titles that are currently out on all systems (COD4, to name one...)
I think you fail to realize that Microsoft actually owns most of the Xbox exclusive franchises, whereas Sony owns rather few Playstation exclusives.

Ergo, Sony has nothing to steal whereas Microsoft can more or less pilfer at will.

Well you wanna define 'exclusive' for me cause my Apple computer seems to run Gears Of War just fine....

If we're throwing Wiki lists around then Microsoft owns these [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Game_Studios#Games_released_under_the_MGS_brand].

Granted those are individual games (ie sequels are listed) but still quite a list.

As response to the article: after this time, who really cares except the fanboys who only really like it because they have another thing to flame each other about?

They don't own all of those games number one and look at how small the 360 list actually is, hell Microsoft doesn't even own Tenchu! Notice how the sony list is games owned rather than simply games published.

The fanboys are out in force! G'night everybody you've been beautiful, but all intelligent discussion has ceased.

Not even going to try and wade through the mire...

This is one of the slimmest slivers of grounding for a rumour I've seen in years. Meanwhile, the 360 actually lost its two best games to the Ps3 (Bioshock has the highest critical praise of any 360 exclusive, and Braid is, well, Braid) and by my reckoning has lost three more exclusives than the Ps3.

I'll just be interested to see how they rationalize the fight against Psycho Mantis where he's defeated by the Ps3 itself - seeing as how the 360 has all the weaknesses he can exploit (he might even call you an achievement whore).
Good point. They'd have to re-write that bit for the 360.

That reminds me, I must finish Braid. Only 5 levels to go.

As stated above the question isn't will it be coming to the xbox 360, it is whether or not it will work on the 360. And all signs point to no, let me explain. Not only is the game 50 gb it is also coded differently see the in order to make xbox game you need to program with a language that is c++ related it is also the reason why a lot of the 360 games you see is also on the pc. Mean while the ps3 is lenux base. If it were to be put on the 360 it will need to be rewritten making what would be a 5 disks game in to say 11 disk with the c++ converion now that is unheard of.

However the 360 may see MGS 5. seeing how popular it is then again maybe not seeing how the majority of the fan base is still on the ps3 side of things.
Wow. First off, it's called "Linux". Secondly, that's not the difference, the difference is that the Xbox 360 uses a different processor architecture than the Ps3 (x86 vs Power PC if i'm not mistaken).

And if you're trying to tell me that there is no C++ compiler for a power PC based processor... I'm just going to sulk my head and walk away.

There are c++ compiler for a power pc based processor that is not the issue its comes down language, Linux is different from c++, when you make a ps3 game (I've tried) use Linux or you'll run into a billion issues. Same reason why when you have a Linux computer ,and don't use wine, running a windows program is a pain.

That doesn't mean a thing. Until the launch of the PS3, the PS2 still had games coming out that were incredibly awesome and, IMO, just about up to par with the capabilities of the Xbox. God of War 2 is a great example of this. I have no doubt Kojima could optimize MGS4 so there would be little difference in the game, and only in the graphical changes. Seriously, who gives a damn when it's all about the gameplay.

Even though I'm an avid fan of the game staying exclusive to the system it started on... Let's be honest here, I didn't spring for a PS3 when it came out and I'd buy MGS4 if it came to the 360... Plus that's one step closer to God of War 3 coming to the 360... That'll be the day...

Ah, but you see, people (mostly 'Xbots') always say "There's no gameplay, only cutscene after cutscene!"

But then, wouldn't God of War 3 be a reason for you to get a PS3? And I think the God of War franchise is owned by Sony, thought i'm not sure I'm going off a limb there.

EDTI: Ah yes, after reading Indigo's post with Sony Owned franchises, God of War is owned by Sony.
So, I'm going to have to say to you, which is not personal to you and I don't intend to insult you;

"Fuck of you greedy bastard! Get the damn hardware or piss off!!"

The above statement wasn't meant to be personal, but to put it less bluntly, "God of War is not coming to 360 because it is owned by Sony. Get the Ps3 for God of War 3 or don't bother at all".
After all, GoW3 should be a reason for you to get a PS3 anyway, right?

Quite true! and I wish there was a way to just turn the damn things off on subsequent playthroughs so you could just enjoy the game. I don't have a PS3, and being with the series since the days of Metal Gear, I really wanted to play #4. I finally got my wish after a coworker brought his PS3 on the ship and I played the hell out of it (on the hardest mode and collecting EVERYTHING except certain badges). To be honest, I'm done with it now - no reason to go out and buy a PS3 just to have it. If it came out for the 360 though, I wouldn't mind picking it up to have as part of my collection.

I've only got a 360 and if it was released and was just as good as the PS3 version, I still wouldn't get it. I've never been into metal gear solid and I doubt I'm going to start now.

First post... Yata yata yata yeah I know

Anyways there will be a problem with the Xbox port. Sheer size... MGS4 occupies the space of a full dual layer Blue ray disk (About 50 GB) while and Xbox port would need to run on regular DVDs (8.54 GB whey dual layered)

To me this means the Xbox 360 version would comprise of at least 5 disks... Some thing not unheard of (FFVIIII and Legend of dragoon) but it has not been done in almost a Decade.

Also this game has been built to be played on the PS3, which is known as a more powerful, all be it expensive and harder to develop for, system and would need to be dumbed down for the Xbox....
First, why did you point out that 8.54 gb when dual-layered? It was a dual-layered Blu-Ray too.

Second, MGS 4 had Lossless. Unless you have a very good sound system, you can't notice the difference between Lossless and 320kbps MP3. If they change from Lossless to 320kbps MP3, it would give a LOT of space.

Third, DVDs can be packed, Blu-Rays can't. That mean DVDs, compared to Blu-Ray storage space, can hold more than 8.54GB.

And in conclusion, I think it will probably come on 2 DVDs, 3 at most.

And I'm happy that it's coming to the Xbox360. I had a PS2 and LUV'D MGS 2, and especially MGS3. So I seriously want to play MGS4, but don't have the money to afford a PS3 at the moment.
