There IS the possibility that they're trying to transition to Big Boss's voice as heard in MGS4, when he had a different voice actor from Solid Snake. It's likely David Hayter will still play the role of Solid Snake if he makes another appearance.

It wouldn't be the same without Hayter. Guess the guy was tired of the same role. Though this man was dedicated to the role before, I think he was willing to give up half his pay in the Twin Snakes remake just to make sure the rest of the cast would return. If that voice we heard in the trailer was suppose to be him.... at least get a grizzled sounding person. It doesn't feel right man.

Considering that Kojima has reportedly been upset with every single localization of his games, this sounds legit to me. The gravelly clint eastwood voice was developed by the original localization team, and Kojima didn't like the liberties they took with the translation. Seems entirely plausible he would lobby to replace Hayter now that he has the clout to do so. Sometimes I think the MGS games are successful despite Kojima, rather than because of him.

Yup. Peace Walker had inordinate production values for a PSP game as Kojima wanted it to be MGS 5. When it didn't sell he had it put in the HD Collection to "reach a wider audience." Somehow I doubt Hayter has been dropped as the voice of Solid Snake and more likely Naked Snake's voice actor is changing. I believe it's still possible that we may eventually see another game with Solid Snake taking place before the Shadow Moses Incident. Not likely, but possible.
