Hayter also denied any involvement in Peace Walker and look how that turned out...also if he truly is gone,as long as he is replaced by Richard Doyle-the guy who voiced Big Boss in MGS4-I won't say I'll miss him.

I'll miss Hayter as the voice of Snake, but seeing as how this game seems like it'll focus on Big Boss, whom we all know is voiced by Richard Doyle in MGS4, I can understand him not being brought on for this project... Kind of, at least. It'll be a weird transition, but at least not one that'll seem horrendously unnatural.

I really, REALLY hope that Hayter's only been cut as the voice of Naked Snake though, not voicing Big Boss? Alright, sure, I can tolerate that... But not voicing Solid Snake? Hell's to the no, that would just be wrong.

Yeah I could see Richard Doyle doing the voice for Naked Snake/Big Boss in this one. After all chronologically this would take place in the 80s so he's getting up there. It would make sense that we would have to transition from the younger Hayter to the older-sounding Doyle, especially since the trailer showed Snake looking more like Big Boss than in previous games.

Considering I haven't played a Metal Gear game since Snake Eater I don't see myself being terribly hung up about this.

However his voice was just so iconic to the brand I feel unless he's suffering from some kind of ailment that affects his voice there is no practical reason to remove him.

This is a "Bad Decision".

Only way this makes sense is if David was asking too much money.

Otherwise, it doesn't make anysense. What? Replace him with someone new so they can pretend to do David's snake?

This can only mean that Snake isn't in the game at all! It's Raiden with a fake beard!

Time Paradox!

This makes sense. At the end of Peace Walker, Snake did a big transformative step into Big Boss and if the trailer is playing tricks with us, it looks like this takes place 9+ years after that with the other big event happening during that time. This would be the place to do the change and even though he was old, there was still a rookie feel to Peace Walker that I imagine will be gone now

... Well, I'm gonna go and cry myself sleep. Unless... this is a clever ruse!? It has to be, they wouldn't just get rid of David!
Shut up Adachi.

You made me read this in their voices!

On Topic: while annoyed at first, I think this can be a good thing. I mean, at some point big boss can't be just like solid snake and a good way to represent that change would be a new voice actor (cause he's old and weathered). It's not like they had both used Hayter's voice in mgs4

Ground Zeroes will have Hayter, after the 9 year coma before MGS5 I am fairly certain it will be Doyle.

This is what you get for not showing up to FanExpo 2012 in Toronto you jerk! I waited in line for your panel and you never showed up so they cancelled it.

Oh well, Hayter's gonna hate.

I 'unno, if we're playing as Big Boss this time round again; it'd be an interesting dynamic to separate him from Snake. The final scene of MGS4 isn't David Hayter talking to himself, after all.

EDIT: Hey news team, don't you think saying that MGSV isn't going to have David Hayter as the voice of Solid Snake is a little misleading, considering that so far this doesn't seem to be a game that's going to involve Solid Snake?

Everyone else, don't you think you're being a *mite* presumptuous?

Wasn't it said that
Big Boss was in a coma for 10 years?
Makes sense that Hayter wouldn't be doing his voice, especially since
He wasn't voiced by Hayter in 4. He had aged a fair bit by then so it's natural his voice would have changed.

So, if this isn't Kojima pulling our legs, I am both completely slapped and also not surprised.

But this is Kojima. He hid the game under a different title.

I'm expecting nothing until it's here, and even then I'm ready for the plot to fuck my head open. :p

This is sad news but I won't accept anything as fact until I have the game in my hands and I am playing it! Kojima's tricky like that.

Besides, he can't use Steve Blum; he's already been a Metal Gear Solid character:

As far as Silicon Knight's Twin Snakes goes, I heard that Hayetr actually paid the original voice actors out of his own wage in order to get them to return and redo the voices for the Gamecube remake. What a guy.

There IS the possibility that they're trying to transition to Big Boss's voice as heard in MGS4, when he had a different voice actor from Solid Snake. It's likely David Hayter will still play the role of Solid Snake if he makes another appearance.
This - they (possibly by accident) made it harder for them to justify an old Big Boss to be voiced by Hayter so they might chose to go with the guy doing Big Boss at the end of MGS4.
Doesn't mean that, if we get a young Big Boss or Solid Snake in an upcoming game that it will be without Hayter again.

They dropped him as the voice for Big Boss. I suspect shenanigans are in play and we will hear from Solid snake at some point in the game. Why yes, I am in the denial stage, why do you ask?
I was the same about old snake not being young and spry. I was hoping that it was a joke and alas twas not.

I'd like to think that this is just Kojima playing mind games but on the other hand, if he isn't then that would be pretty disappointing. I mean, Big Boss was voiced by someone else in MGS4, so it's not that unlikely that they decided to go with someone else.
Anyway, in case it's just a trick by Kojima, I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, so I'm going to assume Hayter really isn't coming back.

YOu have my sympathy David Hayter (i don't think that's cashable at the bank or in the collective memory of the gamer subconscious though).

For once, just for once, i would not mind having been duped. On the other hand, i was sceptical towards MGS3 after initially playing two, and that worked out fine.

Well, this is getting close to the Outer Heaven Uprising, and there needs to be a difference between Big Boss and Solid Snake. Since MGS5 and Ground Zeroes are seemingly taking place in Big Boss's story, I hope they're getting Richard Doyle from MGS4 in.
