The tragedy is the tree, which isn't just a random tree, but a real natural wonder.
It's a damned tree, no matter how old it is I find it pretty fucking disgusting that people value it over a person. It's a tree it doesn't have a personality, it can't think or feel things. I'm not quite going as far as to say this story should be all about the junkie, that's not what makes it noteworthy; I just don't like how Eri has written her off completely without a thought to rehabilitation or even knowing much about them.coolman9899 said:Dude this tree is older then you... by like 116 times over, and why would they... most people would care about the tree more anyway, lol.
Thank you so much! it baffles me how anybody could harbour feelings for something that does not think or feel. I hate how we can value a plant or animal more than a person, regardless of who that person is.TheRightToArmBears said:Eri said:More seriously though, it's not "some tree" that got burnt. It is a tree, no matter how old it is it is still a tree. In absolutely no way is it more important than a person. Fuck that tree.Ultratwinkie said:Oh right because when a meth addict runs through a museum and burns ancient wonders, we should feel sorry for the person? No matter how you fucking cut it, she will die very soon. She is a tiny part in the timeline that is history. Historical relevance is far more important than someone who is willingly killing herself. She will be forgotten not long after her death as well.
History? National landmarks? History is forever and will serve a purpose for a longer time than she ever will. So stop it with the bleeding heart appeals to emotion, because it isn't working. The fact of the matter is a landmark was lost, and it wont come back anytime soon.
The tree has contributed more to the world than that woman ever will. Being old isn't worth anything. The tree doesn't think or feel, let it burn. Nothing of value is lost.Ultratwinkie said:Oh right the "kumbaya" bullshit. She'll be dead in 50 years. That tree is 3,500.
so that's 3,450 years. That is MULTIPLE generations of humans. That tree was far more important than her by all means. Whether you recognize its significance or not.
So you better provide some actual evidence beyond appeals to emotions that she is worth anywhere close to that. Because from my tally, she isn't worth a cent compared to that wonder.
OR, do drugs and control the powers of the Dark Side of the Force.Hero in a half shell said:Holy crap, she's Emperor Palpatine! Let this be a lesson kids, DON'T DO DRUGS!

Should we let the Empire State Building burn, should we let Auschwitz burn, should we dig up Indian burial grounds, or plug up Old Faithful? After all these are all inanimate objects/places/natural locations. The tree and those listed are both natural, and man made wonders, and the buildings all serve as a reminder, or are testament to mankind, or they're sacred to people.him over there said:Being old isn't worth anything.
