Metro 2033

I know that this game is probably going to go largely unnoticed by the general populace, being released on the same day as GoW3 (although maybe not as badly as some may assume, both being exclusive to opposing systems). However, I just recently purchased the game, and played for a few hours, and I must say, I'm very impressed.

Anyways, I have my eye on this game, I know not the trust game critics since they tend to go with the crowed.

So I am interested to hear any updates on how the game pans out.

I've been really impressed so far. It's has a Bioshock-level atmosphere, the narrative feels a bit like an interesting cross-breed of Half-Life 2-style and Penumbra-style, I'm currently at a stealth part, and the stealth system is very reminiscent of Deus Ex and the Thief series. If it can hold the current level of awesome-ness, I'd classify it as a must-play game.

Also, it has a much tenser survival situation than your first few hours fresh out of the Vault in Fallout 3 if you forgot to pick up stimpacks while in the Vault. At least, on the surface it is.

European here, have to wait till at least Thursday I believe, depending on when it's dispatched. Looking forward to it though, reminds me a bit of Stalker judging from what I've read and seen.

I should never read reviews before I get a game though, they just put me off.

Awww.. I've got it pre-loaded on steam, but it hasn't been released here yet. A mix between HL2 and Penumbra sounds awesome =3. They're both awesome games.

(GoW 3 has been released now? I honestly had no idea o.o. My eyes were too focused on Metro and other games. I guess I just have very different priorities then most gamers.)

I have my PC Limited Edition copy ordered at GAME, but as I'm in the UK it's not out until the 19th :-(
Personally I couldn't give a flying fork about God of War 3, I played the first one and thought it was okay but nothing special. These games from the Soviet Empire rock though, I love the Stalker series and I've been waiting on Metro 2033 for ages.
I'm also waiting on my hardback copy of the book to arrive.

Regardless, my copy of Metro is flying first class mail and should be here at about 4 PM. It'll be pretty awesome, I must say.

Well, I hear that when you go outside in the game, you only have enough oxygen for a specific amount of time, and the game doesn't have a timer for it.
So, you need to set a stopwatch. I don't know if this is true though.

It's not true... Your character actually has a wrist-watch with 3 sections (red, yellow, green) that record how long your gas masks filter has remaining. From what I've seen you can find new filters and masks laying around (your mask also takes damage) and change them, but it'll cause a small amount of damage to do so in a hazardous area.

I swear that watch is magic. It doubles not only as an oxygen meter, but a stealth detector. It has 3 LEDs; green for hidden, yellow for enemies aware of your presence, and red for spotted. How the hell does it know that?!
