Hello. I joined the site because I had to thank everyone for their kind words and support.
To everyone that has congratulated me, thank you very much! A lot of the comments here have really touched me. I feel very accomplished and really hope it is a story that can motivate other gamers to bring out positivity in themselves, and reverse the media's ludicrous views on video games.

In other news, since this seems to be a common topic, I do own a Wii, and I did play Metroid: other M. I picked it up on it's release date and beat it in a day. Needless to say, my jaw hit the ground when I saw my idol shatter into an emotional trainwreck. Taking orders from a man that should have never been considered a "Father figure". Excuse me? I guess the Chozo have ceased to exist. Oh no Ridley, I should have put a diaper under the power suit.

But worry not. I plan on selling the game and putting it towards my 3DS. I have put the game behind me, and will make believe it never came into existence. The Samus I look up to has no affiliation with Team ninja or Daddy Adam.

Thank you for your concern regarding my reaction to Other M. But mostly, thank you all for the touching comments about the article. I now work with a charity organization called SOSGamers. We hold game events and tournaments to raise donation money for March of Dimes, Susan B. Komen (cancer research), food drives for the poor and homeless, etc. Check out our website, especially if you live in the New York area!

Sooner or later, the media and general public outlook on games is going to get booted in the face, hard. Video games do not create demons. Bad people that play video games do bad things. Good people use gaming to go in the type of directions that I did. The world is filled with plenty of good souls.

Well said Michelle, as ultimately anything in technology comes down to user whether its a good or bad thing. Video games are no different. I've meet too many awesome people from gaming, so I can safely say its had a postive impact on my life.

I can understand relating strongly to characters as for me Siegfried of Soul Calibur was almost biographical as I came to edge of madness and found myself really close to turning into a real life nightmare after enduring a traumatic experience as a young teen(which i had my share of issues with my father too.), but came fighting back from it all. I had to forgive myself, and come to terms with it. I thankfully had far less to try redeem myself(and hadn't killed anyone.), but I too began my quest to protect others from being dragged into the darkness I nearly was pulled into.

While I'd gone thru most the experience prior to getting really into Soul edge/Calibur series, it was something I found related and as I understood it all, and when you feel that way you aren't alone if even just one person can understand you.

Yes very very good idea. No need to shock her with how badly they portrayed her. And when I mean badly I mean badly, they turned Samus into a broken housewife thanks you jackasses!
Yeah, I don't exactly understand the people that defend that game and I haven't been able to come up with an effective counterargument so now i just say that I pretend that Other M never happened in the franchise simply because I hate how they made her personality in that game.

From what I've heard, not played Other M myself, but it's very degrading to Samus. Ruined the awesome bounty hunter image with a daddys girl?
Just do what I do: pretend it never happened. ^_^
