To anyone bothered by Mr. Bay's overly stereotypical portrayal of "black" autobots, I give you:

what, it's OK when HE does it?
Another excellent point.
My friends keep seeing Tyler Perry movies and I thought it was hilarious when South Park poked fun at it. Another scenario that was supposed to send me into "Angry Black Man" mode (whoops sorry, I mean "Angry African American Man" mode)

4th. How could you tell they were acting "African American"? By the way they were acting? Please enlighten me on how "African Americans" are SUPPOSED to act?
Did you see the movie or read up on it?

Skids and Mudflap were given an apelike appearance complete with "knuckle dragging." They both speak in exaggerated ebonics, have gold teeth, and when asked if they could read a map
Yea, I saw it. Are you insinuating I don't know how to read or that Im too poor to watch the movie? I fail to see why I should be offended. Please enlighten me. (Ebonics with a capital "E")
I dont know how "African Americans" are "supposed" to act so am I to assume that in space, where they came from, this is how "African Space Americans" are supposed to act? Its a goddamn movie about gigantic robots from space.
I was going to take a more aggressive tone, but wanted to give you the benefit of a doubt because you might've just been in the dark.

Well first off all running circles around my argument over a typo with a missed capitalization. That's very mature.

It's indeed a goddamn movie about "gigantic robots from space" but why did Michael Bay have to inject these racial stereotypes into it. In your words they " DAMN ROBOTS FROM SPACE (meaning NOT AFRICA, NOT DETROIT, or New York, Or L.A, or Georgia, or Chicago, or Milwaukee (my home town))" It was Michael Bay who decided to take all these racial stereotypes build two characters with them.

We can all admit to laughing at and cracking racist, sexist, and outright offensive jokes but the bottom line is that Michael Bay himself said that he made those characters for the kids. The Transformers franchise was made for children, and the Transformers movie was made to sell toys to children. And as I have pointed out time and time again here kids can see racial undertones. It sends a terrible message to kids that it's okay to stereotype and make fun of others. It opens an opportunity to stereotype, make fun of, and bully others.

Your argument breaks down to "I can see why it's offensive but why is it offensive?"

Of course they are stereotypes. The robots learned everything they know from the internet. Hell, there even was this medic-bot yelling YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME HUH? COE AT ME BRO!

God forbid the autobots have spent too much time on memebase.
Yeah, then Bumblebee might end up a trite encyclopedia of cliches, devoid of personality. Thank God that didn't happen.
Phew! crisis averted.

I'd rather he give that 25 000 dollars to anyone who can spot a Transformer in the new Transformers film. Or one that isn't partially obscured by a ball of flame or a piece of US Military hardware.
That's a good point.

Also, I've heard that Megan Fox won't be in the movie, which I think is a bad move. I could tell her apart from everyone else, and her character was less annoying and cliched.
...were we watching the same movie?
YOUM@D123 owns this thread. Fact.Of.Life.

Now then, I guess that's a good enough reason to go see it. Obviously, they don't have any lines of dialogue or important scenes. Still, it'd be funny to see them in a fighting scene and Bay completely forgot those little rascals were in there.

If bay sends us proper contact information for when we find these two, I'll see him at the movies.

They were unnecessary comic relief in a movie with TOO MUCH comic relief, not only that but I did find them to be obnoxious stereotypes. I mean really Bay you have giant robots that can transform into tanks and you focus on getting the human characters laid......nice job Bay way to keep your priorities in order.

Thats obviously fake. There aren't nearly enough explosions for that to be a Michael Bay movie. Also, I noticed a distinct lack of slow motion boobies.
The slow-motion boobies are what's exploding. Nothing but class, Michael Bay has.

Most likely they were meant to be included, but Michael Bay suddenly checked his pickled brain and realised it was a bad idea to include them. I don't see why he keeps trying to include comic relief, he can't do it, so just stop. Go for a serious route. Or at least only do it 3 times in a film at the most. Lord of the Rings for example had a few jokes between the dwarf and the elf to lighten the mood from just a regular battle montage. Using main characters to provide the humour (albeit they aren't really MAIN characters like the plot is dependant on them, but you couldn't imagine the films without them). Something like that ya know?

Micheal Bay...ugh. I hope he gets hit by a train.
You know what would've been awesome in Revenge of the Fallen? If instead of the blatantly racist twins, they just replaced them with Daft Punk. That way there's still two and they kick ass!

ok, so are those like their vehicle modes or something? I never paid that much attention to find out.

Good luck to whoever really does spot them though... I'm not going to bother. It's just a ploy to get us to watch the film, from which he'll likely get that money back several times over, and I'm not biting; I'm done with paying for Bay's shit (I don't even care that a different director is on board now - I care not for this altered canon of a pivotal movie of my youth, whose mythology the new versions were sold to us on). They'll be, like, a very distant reflection in some character's eye as they look in a mirror for about three whole frames. You're gonna have to get the blu-ray and step through the whole film a frame at a time to find out.

BTW, the racism argument? Come on. They were one step away from having puffed up red lips and carrying watermelon, even as a white brit I was sat there thinking "goddamn, this is offensive". I suppose there's probably the argument that they learnt english by tuning into tv & radio broadcasts, junkion style, but why talk to each other like that?

Michael Bay, consider your challenge accepted!

Hang on, does this mean I actually have to watch the new Transformers movie?

On second thoughts, I'll pass.

Those two characters were annoying as fuck. I didn't even pay much attention at all to the stereotyping of them, just that they were as aggrivating as Jar Jar Binks, as stupid as the balls on the big transformer, as lame as Bumblebee not being able to communicate with NORMAL SPEECH.

That's true, but think of it this way - Reviews for Revenge of the Fallen were quite poor...
Yes, they were. They were awful in fact. And yet the movie still made its entire production budget back in five days.
Moviegoers are more likely to let poor writing and character development slide as long as they can see explosions. It's how the Expendables and Jumper were so successful.

Plus, I started reading the review, but he lost all credibility when I saw his misuse of the word "decimate". Add to that it's obvious he's just a fanboy and it's like letting a twelve year-old xbox fanboy review the latest Halo game (I know not all xbox fanboys are twelve and not all who prefer xbox are fanboys, but it was for the sake of analogy. Plus, children and fanboys, especially combined, are not good sources for reviews, so I feel that it was appropriate for use in that analogy.)

Seriously? People complained because they were stereotypes? Of all the times you could get away with a stereotype, surely alien robots who learn to mimic humans via the internet and/or pop culture would be it.

I'm mildly annoyed that they won't be in the next movie. They (and Leo) were amusing sidekicks.

Oh. I just remembered there will still be a love interest in the movie. Because that's not stereotypical or clichéd or freakin' unwanted at all.

The jerk.

Please stop trying to justify anything that happens in Bayformers. It doesn't work.
It does if the person you're talking to doesn't ignore what is said in the film itself.

I honestly don't understand the hate. Its a film about robots fighting and crude humour. It is in no way canon. Which means fans of the originals need to get over it.

I'm proud to say I was only offended that the characters were so incredibly stupid, and that in the middle of their 'dramatic' sibling argument I could only see their ankles. Had to come to the internet to realise it was racist too. As a side note, the number of youtube video reviewers after release saying it was good really did make me wonder if I had seen the right movie.

But honestly, change the heads and you just wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them and any new characters.

And I'm still pissed about Jetfire. That toy was the same casting as the Macross Valkyrie. I'd have forgiven him the entire movie and half of Armageddon just to see that in live action. But I'm willing to concede that a Blackbird makes more sense.
