I'll explain the racism thing, he thinks he won't succeed because he's black -> he thinks racists will not listen to a black person. Thus he bleaches his skin. He bleaches it BECAUSE he is black. Probably didn't help that from a young age he was constantly in the spotlight so there'd be more pressure to appear photogenic and his father used to call him ugly (especially about the size of his nose). I imagine that would effect your world view quite a bit and how you view your skin colour.

And obviously he looked very handsome and normal after the skin surgery..

He was not. the child's dad forced him to lie about it so they could escape poverty. He just apologised for it personally recently, since it led MJ to using the meds, contributing mainly to his death.

I don't know if I'm in a serious minority here, but my opinion of MJ as to the allegations, was that, yes, he's nuts, yes, he's screwed up in the head and has some mental problems, but I believe the child thing comes down to only being able to trust children, and being stuck in a childlike state.

I think he just only ever felt safe in the company of children, and felt like he still was one, after all how many adults tried to harm in different ways, from his own father to multiple media people? Kids just wanted to be around him and have fun.

As for the don't care people, fair enough, but how about not being abusive to the people who did care, and are unhappy to have lost someone they like.

For me, when Kurt Cobain died, I was personally hit because I was depressed myself and so felt I could understand what he was going thru, and I also knew someone who's talent I respected would never create anything again.

OF course MJ hadn't created much in recent times, and I understand his heyday was about 25 years ago.

How long before the first Thriller re-edits show up on youtube tho? I'd heard MJ jokes that night, never takes long for people to rewrite old jokes.

MJ wasn't always a crazy loon, and his music is still popular, not to mention he still holds the world record for most records sold with thriller hitting 140million+ sold worldwide, i'm sure that will go up more now, is one of the only albums ever to go dbl diamond. And even when he was all weird, people could still tell you his name, i am willing to bet atleast half of the WORLD population could tell you who micheal jackson is, and name atleast one song

he didn't bleach his skin, he had vilgot(SP?) which causes a white splotching of the skin, and he used alot of heavy makeup to even things out

Exactly, he never knew how the plastic surgery would turn out(although at first I'd say he looked rather cool) . He clearly had a fairly low self-esteem so he viewed him self as ugly regardless and probably had biases in his thought process e.g only remembering negative consequences about his appearance

Honestly... until a few months ago, I had been buying into the current image of Michael Jackson (the creepy, pedo, quite possibly molester one) and assuming that's all there was to him. Then, I saw a few Thriller jokes around (I forget exactly where, but I know Big Al's review of Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti was one of them), and I figured, what the heck, I'll go check it out. Managed to find the original short film on Youtube.
It was the single most amazing thing I had ever seen. And I realized something afterwards... no matter what he'd become, he was still the most amazing thing to hit music since... well, since anything. Even the B-52s don't compare to this guy (and I LOVE Rock Lobster).
God bless, MJ. If anyone deserves to rest in peace, you definitely do.

Not just the internet, it's games as well. I was playing Call of duty 2 on my s***ty PC the day he died and that was almost the only thing you ever saw on the chat line. I got a little annoying. Also that's how I discovered MJ died. MJ's the new elvis and it will take ohhhhhhhhh I predict 3 weeks till any of this slows down on his death.

It's very easy to believe all the hype (remember he wasn't actually found guilty of anything apart from hanging a baby over the edge of a balcony: which is not as bad as how many fathers chuck their own child up in the air)
Sure he was creepy, but then most of us fall into "that" category, and if you look at his life growing up (Britney seemed to have more control over hers) then you can sort of see why he's so away from the norm.

Then catching up with "Billie Jean", "Thriller", "Smooth Criminal", "Bad", "Blame it on the Boogie", "Leave me alone"(especially that one) and you can sort of see the tortured genius behind Jacko.
