You think the Xbone is secretly worth thousands of dollars? Over-delivering?

Nothing of substance was said here today.
"We need to educate people, and show them why they need our product!... But not now."

"Our product is worth thousands of dollars, because of all the awesome features we haven't told you about yet!... But we're not gonna tell you what they are."

Screw you and your substance, just buy the thing because we pinky promise it will be awesome.

Captcha: Double Whammy. Only too true, captcha, only too true...
"You can play your games offline when the console's cycle has ended without connecting to our servers periodically...but not in the mean time."

I can't wait to see what new thing Microsoft will screw up in the next six hours.

Seriously, every time I load up this site Microsoft has screwed up something new.

I never even really played a Microsoft console but I could at least respect them. Now, I can't do any less than hate the Xbone.

"Over value"... as long as you live in one of 21 countries... and can access all the things considered to be adding value...
actually this statement is wrong, If you live in America you get all these things, if you live in the other 20 countries you get some of them. keeping in mind many of the services they've shown arnt available out side the USA

Yup, I found it:

Sony said this exact same thing 4 years ago. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/88522-Sony-Slams-Wii-360-For-Offering-Less-Value-Than-PS3]

Different company, exact same justification for a price no one liked. Way to not learn from your competitor's mistakes, Microsoft.
Thought so, it seems the 3rd console curse is alive and kicking.

Or is it 3rd console arrogance?

Get 10 friends, buy 2 games each. Voila! All of you now have a collection of 20 games (although with certain restrictions). There is value to the machine, why the fuck are they not mentioning where that is?
Because that's way too major and obvious of an exploit for it to actually work like that

That statement isn't wrong, it's saying exactly what you just said spartandude.

OT: Can he just like, shut up? Everything he has said has made people even more frustrated/pissed at MS so why does he keep talking?

If we're going to use incredibly unlikely scenarios....

Get infinity friends, buy 2 PS4 [footnote]or any other console besides XBox One[/footnote] games each, share the disks. Voila! All of you now have twice infinity games (without any restrictions).

Sorry, it just bugs me when I hear the XBox One's ability to share games with other people as some sort of new feature, and not something I've been doing all my life.

Yeah, that might be true if most people didn't already own devices capable of doing half the shit that they are using to justify the giant price tag.

If I'd just been thawed out of an glacier and didn't already have a cable box or a PS3 to watch Netflix on or a laptop to Skype on then maybe I'd care about their bells and whistles.

Oh good lord, Mattrick, you just can't shut up, can you? It's like he's getting all defensive, all like "Hey, isn't my stuff great? It's great, isn't it? It's awesome. Totally. Right?"

So... The XBone is the new PS3? I find this utterly hilarious...

It's one thing for a company to have consumers by the balls. It's another thing entirely when they just think they do. It gives us a neat window into that kind of thinking.
Worse, it's sort of like they can't decide. Like, the "it's totally a good value" comes off as hedging from a group who's been all "hahaha yeah. Where you gonna go, bro? Sony? No way, bro. You're not gonna go to Sony. Get real, bro! You're gonna be back wanting allllll this...."

At this point I can't tell if they're totally boasting here, or if they're actually trying to reassure us that it's an awesome deal so pwease buy our console before mean mr scrooge takes away awwwww our widdle bwankets!

Seriously, this is happening so often now... It's damn near comical, and would be if it wasn't telling of how far up their own ass Microsoft is. Of course, most of their statements are coming through Matty here, so it could be that he's just really bad at talking to people. Or hell, could be both. Probably both.

EDIT: Just realized thanks to that link that Sony, which failed at start last gen because of the price point, have not actually upped their out-of-the-gate console price. Just find it ironic that Sony kept its price point the same, and Microsoft jumped up $300 extra. Hmmm...

Microsoft: "Yes, the Xbox One has things and stuff that justify the extra $100 over the PS4."

Wow! Another absurd statement from Mattrick in the same day? Is this the result of the madness that comes from knowing that you are absolutely going to be fired from your dream job, but that they can't do it while you are still publicly visible in the press for fear of even further poisoning the new product rollout? So he just stays in the limelight getting wackier and wackier.
I read the title of this article and thought "Over-deliver? Only a complete hack would make that sort of statement. I wonder if Don Mattrick has anything to do with this..."

Suffice it to say I was not surprised. Does anyone take this guy seriously anymore?

Since the price is lower than what some analysts predicted, it must mean there's a lot of value! Either Microsoft's PR people are cluelessly digging a deeper hole for themselves or they're frantically trying to dig up out of this mess to no avail. Either way, it's getting pretty painful to watch.
It could be they have dug so deep they have forgotten which way is up. The way things are going it seems quite likely.
I believe that this is about the way microsoft HQ looks around about now:

OT: Ahahahahahahaha. Sure. Sure it does. What do I get for £430? A weaker piece of hardware, a camera I dont want, and a demand for me to phone home to prove I'm not stealing things.

I would say it's more a curse. Neither Nintendo nor Sega were being arrogant about their systems. Well, I guess I can't say for certain on the Saturn; though it's always been my understanding that it's failing was more in the system just being completely unspectacular than in Sega doing something because they felt infallible. As for the N64, Nintendo wasn't really being arrogant by sticking to cartridges, they just weren't convinced by discs yet.
