And so the actual price of the Xbox will not be what they will announce You'll have to add the extra 50-60$ to have xbox live. Cause otherwise the system will not play any games.

If Live becomes free then that's another thing.

They've stated you'll still have to pay for Gold.

So we have access to our games until Microsoft turns off the servers some day and then the thing becomes a glorified media player and the games you bough vanish into the ether. I don't understand why anyone would buy this.

And like that the Xbone drank itself silly and ended the night with a double barrel shotgun in its mouth. A shame really... I used to be a fan of the Xbox once upon a time.

The rumors are true: you must connect once a day in order to play your games. That you bought. What about gamers without that capability? They don't exist. "Every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection," Major Nelson writes, and because of this, "developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you're not playing."
Lolwut? Can someone explain this retarded reasoning to me? His rationale doesn't even address the premise. It's like he said "Bears are big so that the ocean can be wet". Developers creating massive persistent worlds has nothing to do with every console owner having a broadband connection [that is required to be working or used every day to check in with Microsoft]. I added that last part because he must have obviously meant it, otherwise he's a dishonest piece of shit trying to minimize the onerous requirement for their console. Anyway, you know what massive persistent world only requires an internet connection when the person wants to play in that persistent world and doesn't give a damn if the person has an internet connection at any other time? Every MMO ever!

"Every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection," What, can this fucker see into the future now? There are no Xbox One owners the thing isn't for sale yet. I guess he's merely stating what is logically true that every person boneheaded enough to buy this anti-consumer piece of crap will HAVE to have broadband connection, it's still a strange thing to say.

Honestly, why are people saying that they can live with this? You shouldn't have to to "live with" or "deal with" something you don't approve of in a LUXURY item. If the free-market system truly works what you should do is NOT give money to the company that demands YOU serve THEM and instead give your money to the company that understands that they have no business asking for your money unless they are going to provide you with the product you want. Whether that be Sony, Nintendo, Steam, GoG.com doesn't matter.

I know personally all my gaming right now happens on WiiU, 3DS, iPad and Steam. I spend a lot of money on those platforms because they give me what I want - convenient gaming, at a reasonable price, without a bunch of strings and commitments attached.

you can play games or enjoy applications that use data, such as videos, photos, facial expressions, heart rate and more, but this data will not leave your Xbox One without your explicit permission.
At what point do you give your consent to this. Is it per application (like using a credit card) or is it like a service (Sony [PSN], Microsoft [Xbox Live], Valve [Steam] signing away your right to class action lawsuit).

Both require my explicit permission.

I can live with having to connect once a day - my internet is kinda flaky but it can usually be relied upon to be alive at some point on any given day. I'm pretty sure I can live with the licensing thing, since I never really lend my games to anyone (because my only Xbox-owning friend in the area is horribly unreliable, and to lend anything to him is about the same as throwing it into a volcano for all the chance I'll get it back) and I rarely buy used.

As for the Kinect thing, though? I just want a straight answer: is it absolutely required? Can I disconnect it completely and never use it for anything? I don't need to say "Xbox on" to turn my Xbox on, I've got hands which are perfectly capable of operating a power button, and I have no interest in ever using Kinect in a game.

Every XBone user will have broadband because they are actively shafting the rest of the userbase.

Wow. Originally I wasn't going into next gen yet because I have several thousand hours worth of this gen left to play. Now it's like they're trying to keep me away. Heck, at this rate I'm more likely to go buy a used PS3 to see what all that Uncharted business was all about.

Calm down guys, it's not so bad. Even if your internet is down Microsoft is going to allow you to watch TV and your dvds. So you can thank them for that. /sarcasm

Seriously though that line is just salt on the bullet wound in their foot where they shot themselves.

I wasn't going to get an Xbone anyway, but the mandatory connection means that I'll never buy it simply on principle. Especially with that sentiment.

Every Xbone owner has a broadband connection? Yeah, all six of them.

I get that, and that's a whole other issue, I was criticizing the checking in to Daddy Microsoft every day being instrumental in allowing developers to create persistent worlds. It's an asinine line of reasoning.

Edit: Actually, I take that back, they're the same issue because Microsoft isn't that stupid. They know checking in once a day has jack shit all to do with creating persistent worlds. This is just a stupid reason they're trying to shove down our throats to try to make their requirements seem more reasonable and easier to swallow. Or maybe they are that stupid.

Which is it Microsoft, stupid or liar?

You know what, personally, I can live with this.

I know plenty of people won't be, and they definitely have good reasons for that, but my guess is that most of the problems that people will have with it won't affect me personally.

I know it might sound rather arrogant to say that, but I don't mean it to be, honestly.

Now all I personally need to know is what kind of games are coming out for it.
You don't mean it to be, but it's arrogant (and a bit naive) to think it won't affect others (who you acknowledge have good reasons) when you give the message to Microsoft that this type of thing is acceptable. If you don't mind being as guilty as them, enjoy your contribution to the future of less consumer rights.

You don't need to be "part of the solution" to do right. But here you're definitely being "part of the problem."

This actually didn't address any of my concerns. It clarified them. I wasn't concerned that my Xbone might have to check in with it's parole officer once a day. I was concerned that such a requirement would fucking suck. Likewise, I wasn't concerned I couldn't exercise the same rights with games I purchase, sorry licenses I rent, on the Xbone that I have with my 360 games. I was concerned that would fucking suck elephant cock. I wasn't concerned I couldn't say "Xbone off," I was concerned how much great white shark penis it would suck if I can say "Xbone on," and it turns on because, you know, it's fucking watching me.
I've been happy with PC gaming for a while, but I really hope the PS4 doesn't screw the pooch on this one, because I like some games and genres developers won't release on PC. Sony can make a smart move here, being the console on which publishers can't control lending and used game sales won't be such a bad thing if your install base is massive compared to the other guy.
