Microsoft should have said...

"We are sorry... that there's people that's actually offended by this, we'll remove it just so that people stops bothering us."

Slow news day?

OR is it just that people need to get a damn backbone and stop screaming 'I'M A VICTIM BECAUSE I NOT A WHITE MALE IN AMERICA!'?
It's just a bit of pent-up frustration that they need to get off their chest.
i could be an a** here but I'll choose not to be one >_>, you still set up a pretty good incline for jokes

It's official: political correctness has gone too far. Pack it up folks, the fun is over for good. Never again can a mildly offensive joke be made without the world losing it's shit.

...what's wrong with large breasts? Was there a description about how they are, or some statement about women or men who have them? Maybe the guy who did that was a larger fellow who looked down, and trying to instead of be hurt by his size, joke about it and his big boobs, and now everyone is taking it out of context...

Big boobs. Some guy put in big boobs. Can we not just... laugh at this? Yeah, it's immature but I sometimes get tired of sophisticated humour! Don't you? "Hur hur... boobies" should have been EVERYONE'S response.

How do they know it was a male that did it? If it was a female is it still sexist? No because it wasn't sexist in the first place. It's just secondary sex characteristics, no different that any other sex/genital reference.
Immature? Sure, but not sexist. Seriously, someone logically try to explain to me how that is sexist.

Sorry, but too little too late. You can be as big and public as you want about it but the damage has already been done and is irreparable.
From here on out, I am boycotting anything related to do with Microsoft. This is absolutely disgusting and hateful and I shall have nothing to do with MS ever again for as long as I live...

So saying "bigboobs" is now sexist. This is insane. It is no wonder these feminists think every man is a misogynist if all it takes is typing boobs into a calculator. No similer uproar about all those Pen Island .com jokes though. Oh and 0xP3N1S. There, now I'm a misandrist I guess.

There should be a line of code in the next microsoft product that reads 614n+ 80n3r and then everything will be balanced and everyone will be happy. Except the itty bitty titty committee and the one inch wonder brigade. They will always be bitter and angry at the world.

I'm glad someone got a smackdown for this. Because there's one rule you MUST follow when doing high-profile corporate open source work: You don't commit ANYTHING you don't want to see in the paper the next day. You're a coder writing a hypervisor for fuck's sake, not a preschooler who just learned a new "dirty" word.

I've known too many coders with the mental development of a five year old. I'm glad to see one of them got caught at it and damaged his career. (Fairly badly, too. Ballmer's crackhead employee ranking scheme means every department head needs a fall guy for almost every employee evaluation cycle. Guess who just volunteered for the pits of a 2.5/4 rank on the next one?)
Wow, so this little joke you believe this guy should be fired and never have a job in his career again and essentially go work at mcDonald's or something?
honestly i wouldn't want this guy working at McDonald's either, because there's a good chance they think farting on cheeseburgers would be funny too.

It's unprofessional. Coders who pull this kind of crap aren't taking their job seriously, and it is entirely appropriate for an employer to take disciplinary action (not necessarily firing, but absolutely a stern talking to) because this kind of bullshit damages the company's reputation.

Words cannot express how gravely disappointed and angry I am right now.

This is no big deal.

The feministwhore on dead island thing was no big deal.

Sadly, it's quite honestly, just everyone hating on the white guy for all their problems. They're just bashing on 'the white man' just to bash on them. It's mob mentality. Similar mentality as the KKK where they viewed all black men as a blight on their society, now it's the white man that's a blight on the whole motherfucking world, for every fucking ethnicity and female person out there.
Who said anything about "the white man"? How do you know the person responsible was even white? (I admit it's a fairly safe to assume that a man was responsible, but on the off chance that it actually was a woman then that doesn't

You know what's really horrible and sexist? The fact that women gain half of a man's wealth and property after divorce and normally also recieves alimony payments from him just cus he has a penis.

And that a huge unacceptable percentage of males are forced at child birth to have a circumcision but female genital mutilation is somehow totally unacceptable in comparison. Just cus he has a penis.

And that only males can be drafted to fight and die in wars while the females sit around at home. Just cus he has a penis.

THAT is sexism. Not some little private fucking joke. But of course nobody cares about THOSE issues.

Yeah. Everyone needs to shut the fuck up about this shit. This is NOTHING.
Yo, gender equality isn't a zero-sum game? talking about these issues isn't stopping you from bringing up yours.

Though the draft thing is pretty much a joke, btw. There's no political will to ever reinstate the draft in America, and if it ever became a serious issue again it would probably ended up abolished entirely. Meanwhile in the actual military, women are struggling to get into assignments that traditionally have been given only to men.

Jesus Christ, sometimes I don't know why I even bother with this site anymore.

Two whole pages of people whining about feminism and how overblown this story is.

0 actual feminists taking exception.

Well, let me be the first then. Yes, it's sexist. Yes, it reinforces a negative perception of the software development industry. Yes, Microsoft is doing the right thing by apologizing and patching it out.

Story over, situation resolved, let's move on.
Please explain to me how this is in any way sexist.
It's sexually objectifying a portion of the female anatomy, in a context where it's completely inappropriate to do so.

Funny how it's two men that sounded the sexism horn, women can take care of themselves, if they find this offensive they can say so themselves, they don't need some white knight dolt to do it for them.

Anyway, who hasn't written 80085 on a calculator and had a little immature giggle about it?

Are you one of those people who think that porn is sexist too?
Nope, i'm sex-positive.

Well, the mainstream porn industry is definitely sexist, but then so is the rest of society to varying degrees. But in general terms yes, i'm in favor of porn.

edit: by the way, why are you changing the subject? is this question at all relevant to what we're talking about here?
