All right, all in favor of blowing up Bungie's money-grubbing asses, say "aye."
Nahy.

Be fair guys....Bungie is not owned by Microsoft anymore and needs to make a living. I admit that I am a huge Halo fan and I WILL be getting the ODST Collectors Edition for sure. I have no problem paying for quality.

Stop the whining. Get jobs.
I love how Bungie claims that they "are now separate" from Microsoft, but still make games announced by, marketed by, and published by Microsoft.
Microsoft owns the Halo license.

Lol hell no i'm not buying this! The d*cks at bungie still haven't made the legendry maps free a year after they have dropped and I mistakenly bought the mythic maps thinking they would become so. No more money for you, Bungie!
...why should they be free anyway?
Well I mean, I play both PC games and 360 games, and I would be pissed the hell off if every class update for team fortress 2 cost 10 bucks, and you can't play any ranked matches if you don't have all the classes.

It's bullshit, that's what it is. I can't play any team slayer with my buddies, because only like 2 of us actually think that the mythic map pack is worth it. Trust me, it's not.
You don't need any DLC to play team slayer...
Then obviously you have not been playing Halo 3 recently. Mythic map pack is now a REQUIREMENT to play ranked team slayer in.

What do you want me to do about it - they aren't going to give the maps away for free due to the achievements mapped to them (Microsoft rules dictate you can't add achievements with free DLC).

At least full game priced expansions will hurry along the next video game collapse and smaller devs can rise again to produce fun games and sensible price plans again

"[the game] provides a new campaign from the point of view of an entirely new character."
This shows how far some sales rep in MicroSoft have their heads up stuck up their asses.
Like the idea of retelling a story from a different point of view from a new character has NEVER been done before.

Half-Life: Opposing Force 1999?

Oh dear, some of my friends are will be calling me loaded to the bursting point with nerdrage, i'm glad i don't own a 360 right now...
And I don't need to own a 360 to know that Bungie and Microsoft are a bunch of idiots for putting an expansion pack out for the cost of the original game, The only way it would be worth it is if you didn't spring for the original halo 3 when it was out.

lol i'll pay the 60 for it, idc its actually a pretty good deal because it has a story-line
That would make every game ever made a good deal.

This price hike screams to be a money grabber, but we won't know till the reviews roll in I guess.

They could sell it at 120$ and people would buy it, so I guess this decision won't backfire.
I didn't mean a deal as in a bargain I ment it like we pay 60 for almost every xbox 360 game and they all have storylines we should expect to pay the storyline amount, but ya the 120 dollar thing is very possible atleast they aren't milking the die hard halo fans with an insane price that they know would still sell

Still not as expensive as the inFAMOUS copy selling for 74 euros at a store where I live...
Well, 99% of the games made are more costly in Europe or in general all other countries, than the US, this testament still holds today, and will continue forever. Even if the value of the Euro is 3x the amount of the US dollar, it just means more money for vid developers. To this day I have not seen a normal game (not special edition) that has gone over 64$ in the US.

Yes you can, Social Slayer requires no DLC, same with Social Skirmish and Lone Wolves. If you want Ranked, Squad Battle and MLG only need Heroic (which is free).

Insomniac is no different. As an independent developer Bungie can do what they want and what they want is continued partnership with Microsoft, and to launch their enemies into the Sun with a massive slingshot.

I don't really see a need to charge a full amount. It is an expansion pack for all intents and purposes. I'll try it, but I'm not gonna buy it till the price drops. And if that means waiting a while, I will.

It's just a cash cow.
So were Halo 2 and 3.
I respectfully disagree. They at least carried the story to it's climax and conclusion, and added other features such as live play and forge and other in game items, however much you use them is up for debate, but they had a reason to exist
ODST has reworked player traits, a full campaign, a new multiplayer mode, and an updated engine. Not to mention Halo 3's multiplayer complete with every DLC map and the Reach Multiplayer Beta. Seems like a fair deal to me.

Many PC games' expansions cost near full price if they're stand-alone. And many games that could be considered expansions with a change in wording and maybe a few divisions (such as Rainbow Six Vegas 2, a quality tactical shooter by the way) are released as full games for full price.

EDIT:

I'm gonna fork out for the Collector's Edition.

I mean.. I'm me, what choice do I have? And it's more expensive here, too.
I think I might too, I could use an extra controller and that one looks, as another poster put: hawt. My brother is of course getting his own copy and preordering it for the Sergeant Major Avery Johnson Firefight skin.

It's not the same story seen by a different character. Aside from seeing a Halo 2 cutscene from a different angle it's an entirely new story.

True, video games are a business after all, they know players will fork out the extra $20 or so bucks.
