So... basically they understood that there'd be a backlash but are counting on market forgetfulness and response to smaller content bribes to aid that forgetfulness? They may understand humans better than I thought...

I don't think gamers are the audience. We don't like it, and we're gamers! They must be selling this as a DVD player/tv remote to not us.

I'm not saying playing the long game isn't a bad idea, Spencer, but playing the long game with the feature list Xbone's going to have is kind of a dumb idea. That's like playing Texas Hold 'Em and going all in on a two and a three. Of separate suits. On the first hand. Before the flop.

"This isn't a sprint"

Says the company that released the Xbox 360 an year early only to find themselves in 3rd place for the 7th console gen...

Come on MS, stop sucking the chode of the investors and admit you're just not good at this console thing.

This whole "Just buy it and you'll see!" schtick is getting really old, really fast.

I've already preordered mine, and shortly after that the preorders were sold out at my gamestop. The guy there mentioned that 5 or 6 other stores were also sold out. I am happy that I am getting one, and I am happy that I am going to be playing Elder Scrolls. :)
What backwater do you live in ¿ I checked at my local Games top, yesterday, and they have 2 pre-orders, and the guy (store manager at that) stated that according to their network, NO store within 100 miles has sold out of pre-orders yet. Granted a day can make a difference or a change, but ...... I'm fairly sure that dude lied to you.

OT.
I'm not sure what should be said. I don't have many qualms or issues about buying something with a slightly higher price point than its competitor as ling as I am positive about the increased value, but looking at the current libraries of games for the XBox 360 and the PS3 and examining what is already projected to be released for both of the new consoles, I can see no point in buying a system that is guaranteed to provide me with the same games that I already refuse to purchase for its current console.

OT: Well, at least they're not just saying "deal with it" this time.
actually, in the other report they prettymuch did and frankly at this point i'm about ready to preorder a ps4 just to spite them ( i was on the fence, but they've annoyed me that much.. i want to punish them with one 'enemy' sale. )
petty? sure. effective? not really. DAMN satisfying? hell yeah.

Microsoft thinks it's still teasing us. In reality it's already blown it's load all over the couch, thrown-up on our backs and passed out on the floor with it's pants around it's ankles. All thats left is to take a shower and go through it's wallet for the bus fare and hope we still have Sony's number.
Wow that's some heavy imagery, there. Would have been kinda hot without the throwing up part. :S

Bull fucking shit.

If such content existed and was really enough to overcome people's very valid complaints about this system then they wouldn't be keeping it under wraps. They got curb stomped by Sony a few days ago and now they're trying to convince people it's no big deal and they'll show that it's worth the money eventually. Talk about your marketing horse feathers.
I would take that with a grain of salt. Since MS for a while has still tried to convince us that Xbox Gold is worthwhile, this may be a similar blustering. It seems that Microsoft will have their target demographic, based on some people claiming to have pre-ordered it, but i must wonder if there are enough to justify the way MS is ignoring the outcries.

....Unless the used-game blocking and 24 hour checks are the new features we pay $100 more for?

As far as i can see it, MS have one advantage over sony. That X-box controller. It's mainly personal preference but I just like the X-box controler more than any Dual Shock I've ever used.

So uhh yeah, nice one MS you got one thing right....now about fixing the other 983498432 things you got oh so wrong.

They keep saying the xbox has all this great content but they never say exactly what it is. There's only four months before now and November and Sony has one hell of a head start. There's no point making a move when you're opponent is two feet from the finish line.

So instead of dealing with the problems that consumers have with Microsoft and the Xbox One, they are going to stick their heads in the sand and claim everything is a-ok until November?
They are definitely NOT sticking their heads in the sand - they are gonna yell straight in your face for the next 6 months through carefully orchestrated social media campaigns:

... whether you like their approach to communication is another matter ;)

See, I think the playstation fanboys are coming out of the woodwork because the xbox took them to task last gen, and they are doing everything in their power to fuel this and keep the flames stoked. If you removed THAT element, then the amount of mud flinging would drop significantly.
And I think you work for Microsoft.

Baseless speculation for everyone!
I wish I did, I imagine that they would pay pretty well!
