Nice reasoning, that post wasn't just made to boost your post count now was it?
I said what I thought and all that really needed to be said; I've long since passed the age where I give a rat's ass about post counts.

Bwahahahaha!!
It'll be big, but the biggest game of the year? That, my friend, is a mighty big stretch for a game that's only on one platform.

I think someone is being a bit over-confident in their product. Also on a side note, what is Halo:Reach supposed to be? The only thing I've heard about it is the title.

Given that Starcraft 2 comes out this year, doesn't this mean Halo will have to outsell the buying power of the country of South Korea?

People had the same doubts about Halo 3's potential success before it came out. Just like then, these people will be silenced once the game is released. Or will be in denial. Like it or not the series is a Icon of the gaming industry right up there with Mario, MetalGear, FF series, and Legend of Zelda. Bungie is no group of fools. This game will be epic to enough people to continue its status as a cultural Icon.

Some people wont care or might hate the fans (and fanboys well does anyone like ANY fanboy of anything tbh?) But you know what, we dont care, we're too busy having fun playing the games we enjoy =) So fire away

It's a prequel, based on one of the most important battles of the war, and it ended with a crushing defeat for the UNSC (NOT a spoiler, as they tell you right off the bat..) that resulted in there being only one Spartan left, good ol' master chief. if you really care you can check out the articles about it on IGN or game informer

Well, of course it will be. Or at least, it'll be one of the biggest games of 2010- everything Halo-related sells like hotcakes. The same goes for Call of Duty.

And can we PLEASE keep this thread clean of 'HALO SUXS LOLOLOLOLOL' Take That [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TakeThat] comments? This thread isn't about discussing Halo's quality or popularity, it's about discussing whether or not it'll be a big player in 2010.

Although it may be a good enough franchise, I somehow doubt it will be the biggest thing this year...
[small]We have Furburt's ego for that [/joke][/small]
Somehow I think something else will sell better, such as Bad Company 2.

Wow. Big time overconfidence. Outsell both Call of Duty 7 and God of War III? Not likely. How well did ODST sell? Not as well when compared to traditional Halo standards. I'm not saying that Halo is terrible, it's a great series, but how well can Reach do without Master Chief? He's the selling point behind the whole thing. It will probably be one of the biggest games of 2010, but it will not be the biggest game of the year.

So THIS is why people hate the Halo series.
The games aren't that overrated; I enjoy them.
They're just ridiculously overhyped.

I'm sure the yearly amount of sandwiches consumed will outsell GoW and CoD to.

That doesn't mean it's gonna be anything amazing.

I seriously dought it though. Since a lot of the games that were supposed to be out in 2009 are coming up in 2010, Halo reach has a very little chance of being the biggest game of 2010. It still might be good, but not biggest game.

What the hell is Halo: Reach supposed to be about anyways? Is it basically the unofficial Halo 4?
If memory serves, it's the prequel to the series. It's based in the same time frame as the "Fall of Reach" book, and you get to play through the Covenant invasion of the Spartan home base.

I'm 95% certain that it won't sell nearly as much as MW2 did, though it might outsell GOW3.

*sigh*
I just think the Spartan armor looks nasty.

Less bulk and believable to have flexibility.

In the books the armor has a color palette that looks different and matches each personality for the characters. Red, Blue, Green, etc. Now we have the Gears of Halo: The 40th Day armor.

Maybe, but it will not be the best game for 2010. That is reserved for Mass Effect 2.

Yeah, right... I really don't see that happening.
Agreed. Halo, is Halo, is Halo. As they say. I think it might be an intresting game, but certainly not as big as CoD was to the industry.
you do know that halo revolutionized the first person shooter genre much more that CoD ever did right?

Someone needs to focus on the game more instead of trying too hard to look stupid, maybe that way it will get closer to that self proclaimed mark.

Or...

Perhaps they are really into something, maybe they devised some brain liquefying sonic or electromagnetic wave which can be transmitted through internet and television and will be included in their new game?
Most likely they just think that way because they took all the game elements known and proven to be popular amongst the masses and mixed em all together as some clever marketing move.
