hopefully hackers do care about gamerpoints unlike me.
If they didn't care it's unlikely they would've hacked in the first place :p
lots of hackers in games that don't reward winning. hackers just do it because they are faggots who have no skill.

agree with above post they should just ban hackers. like if they are definitely hacking just delete their account. seriously I would have a zero tolerance policy, nothing I hate more in the world than hackers. they make terrorists look like misunderstood altruists.

I think that if people are going to go out of their way to hack Gamerscore -- an ultimately unimportant e-peen number, as many have pointed out -- the punishment should fit the crime. In this case, it does: these people obviously hold great stock in their quantified e-peen, so taking it away (e-castration?) is probably the best way to stop hacking. Sometimes humiliation is better than exile.

People exploiting and using gamesaves to get to rank 100 is the inciting offense. I saw level 100s within three days of the title update, which is... impossible, to say the least. The best part is that one of these level 100s shows up, flashing a rank which denotes awesomeness, and then inevitably sucks. Whole thing seems counterproductive to me. These guys went out of their way to boost themselves up to a standard that they can't possibly live up to in-game. Losers.

Let them hack for achievements, it shows how pathetic they are. i.e.- really pathetic

Note that this comes from someone who has 51,000 gamerscore...but will not resort to hacking.

They should delete Avatar's achievements. Its basically hacking for 1000 GS. In fact, if I see that you have 1000/1000 in it, I mentally subtract 10,000 from your existing GS total. No exceptions.

I stand learned, and even more glad that I have a PS3. Thanks for clearing that stuff up guys.
Achievements are the same as Trophies on the PS3 - they just carry a points score which counts to your overall gamerscore as opposed to having bronze, silver & gold trophies...

dont blame them hacking in games is a seriously punishable offense but here is what gets me. They ban hackers quicker that they ban the racist homophobe a-holes that reside on XBL.
How are they supposed to know who they are? Do you expect them to monitor every word said over a mic in XBL? Then decipher who are chatting with their friends and who are actually being mean to another? Do you expect them to take every bad rep someone gets as law and ban based on that when it takes no effort to give someone that and people do it because they got smoked by another? And isn't that what the mute function is made for? Don't like it don't listen to it. Have we forgotten sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me?

Who would have thought a great thing like the internet would turn everyone into a bunch of wussies?

What were the hacks? I didn't even know you could get hacks for an Xbox 360 game, wow...weird.
It wasn't really a coding hack. People would let a person who already have the ach use thier account (just d/l their profile) and that would unlock the achievements once they started the game. Defeats the whole purpose of achievements.

How can they use a three as an "e" in normal speech? I think they've managed to hack the Matrix. GoW2 was good practice. [sarcasm]I respect their "1337" skills.[/sarcasm]

Hacking a gamerscore ruins the experience for the legit players, the people who actually put an effort into it, whereas these guys are just making a few clicks.
Putting effort into what? Raising an arbitrary and ultimately meaningless number? The people putting real effort into that deserve to weep like the little shits they are and curse for hours when the almighty MS crushes their dreams...

THIS is one of the many reasons I won't buy Xbox, ever. XBLA is a kindergarten for children and manchildren, and this whole Gamescore thing is just a stupid dickmeasuring contest for obsessive basement-dweller retards.

*hugs his PC* ^_^

Well yeah, if they banned racist homophobes then XBL would only have about 100 subscribers worldwide.

Well, that's just what I'd expect to hear from a black gayer.

Anyways, I like achievements, but I think it's weird how they've mutated players into obsessives. They're fairly meaningless points, yet my best friend now seems to only play games to get achievements and gamerpoints, to the point where he wants me to play games he's no good at to unlock things for him.

Look at TF2, achievements, while sometimes not conducive to team play, generally fun and lead to something (new alternative weapons), whereas nearly all other achievements lead to nothing but a score.

Hell lets go back to Yahtzee favourite, Painkiller, you could say that the tarot card system was an achievements system, yet it gave you new powers for replaying a level with a limitation, or for killing every enemy, etc.

Of course if I'm willing to step back to fund my argument, I'll offer a counterargument to save time, Pac-Man,Space Invaders, there was nothing but the arbitrary chase of a new high score on offer, yet we were all completely satisfied.

I guess the question is, are achievement points a step back, without any rewards to back them up?

I'm not exactly familiar with the XBL community, but what is resetting a Gamerscore going to do? And also, why the hell do people feel the need to cheat on these games? It is beyond me...
Resetting gamerscore is more or less an XBL death sentence. You get points for doing certain things in certain games. Up to 1000 per game, and these hackers obviously wanted more of it, making them achievement whores. They play for hours and hours just to get those last 10 points. They preform acts that i shan't describe any further to the lower extremities of Bill Gates..... Taking away there points will likely lead to many a fallen tear.

Just a reminder...

DO NOT post in threads that are this old. This goes doubly for New Room threads. It is called 'Necroing' and it is against the Posting Guidelines. You should try reading those... It will help you IMMENSELY.
