Am I the only at least slightly interested in this? A new developer might bring some new ideas into the series. A few of the people from Bungie were actually replaced into 343 studios (among them Frankie O'Connor) and they are bringing in new, and hopefully talented, people.

Besides, I won't judge until I actually have something to pass judgement on.

At least, no more than Infinity Ward or Activision are milking CoD, or Valve have milked Half-Life or whoever does the Lego games have milked the, um, Lego games...

There are three main games. Then one RTS, a spinoff (ODST), and now six games when Reach is released in September. I can think of plenty of IPs that have more games than this, and no-one ever complains about those (the entire series spanning around FF7 alone, for instance...). People only complain because Halo is popular.

Anyway, as a longterm fanboy I'm pretty damn pleased for this. I really want to see what happened to John and Cortana at the end of Halo 3. My theory is that the planet they're headed for is Onyx, what with it being pretty damn far outside the range of the rings (perfect place to stick a Shield World, after all), and they'll end up meeting with the rest of Red Team, Mendez, Halsey, and the surviving SPARTAN-IIIs. Given that some Sangheili heading towards Onyx weren't aware of the new truce between them and the humans, they could potentially be enemies again in such a scenario.

And if you understand that, then I applaud your great taste in gaming, as well as congratulate you for being one of the relatively few people around now who still care a lot about storytelling in games.
that is a decent idea but try telling bungie that i hope they'd go along with it an i hope they make halo wars for pc damnit i don't have a 360

I personally don't trust them, though I am really hoping they do prove me wrong. I'd prefer to see microsoft start a new franchise rather than continue halo, but I do love the halo universe.

I wish them the best, but I don't expect good things.

As long as we stop there, and avoid 'The Cole Protocol', we're good on the storytelling front. Although I'd like to see some new enemies - a splinter group of elites wouldn't really be able to hold up an entire game.

I'll wait on 343's inevitable halo game until I get some reviews, I guess. But I'm definitely getting Reach!

Halo: Reach is the end for me, I'm afraid. Bungie is fantastic, so I'll stick with them, but I cannot bare to watch my favorite franchise butchered.
Doubtful since 343 has a LOT of former Bungie Employees. Give them a chance at least.

Hmmm, I actually quite liked The Cole Protocol. It was interesting getting a new look and opinion on the United Rebel Front, and the other Insurrectionist groups, not to mention providing some much desired info on Gray Team, after the throwaway snippets given by Catherine Halsey near the end of The Fall Of Reach. Plus the new info and understanding of the Covenant caste structure, especially regarding the Kig-Yar's culture and position within the hierarchy, was pretty interesting too. Although maybe that's just my own opinion...

Ok, I love Halo. But like Call of Duty: It needs to die now. Seriously, if they continue to make the same game over and over they'll just turn into another Nintendo.

The only issue I see is that a new studio, and it is a *new* studio in spite of the fact that a handful of former Bungie personnel are a part of 343, is continuing the franchise and with any new studio trying to do new things, it might set off alarms for the more conservative fans of the series. Not me, though. I've migrated.

With Bungie gone, it really does seem like Microsoft are milking the franchise (more than they were already)
This made me laugh, anything successful gets milked.

I wouldn't mind some 'fresh blood' in Halo, so long as it looks cool.

I have no issue with them making more Halo. or even more Call of Duty. It's come a long way from 2003 and being purely about WW2. The variation in recent time periods gives greater wealth to story potential, and Call of Duty is as much about the story as it is about the multiplayer. MW2 communicated that quite sorely. As for Halo.. well, that has yet to surprise me. But, new studio means a greater possibility of a new storyline, or perhaps an alternate storyline. Just my observation, however.

Not surprising, really. No way MS would walk away from the Halo series. From the little impression I can gather from this, I can say that the name is good. series-specific geek references are usually a good sign for devs who like their topic.

Still, since the surprisingly playable Halo Wars.. I think this could work out, possibly go into other games beyond the FPS.
343 Industries will be one to watch, as will Bungie, with what they're gonna do next.

Can always hope for more legit Marathon!
