Probably to prevent people buying broken PS3s cheap and using it for a discount.Xsjadoblayde said:Why? Does the demon 'Gates' need them alive to devour their souls?roseofbattle said:Traded-in PS3s must be in working condition, but Microsoft will recycle them.

Basically my first thought. Maybe there is some cunning plan behind all this and that I'm just not clever enough to see how great a deal this actually is, but on the whole it looks like I would only lose on this bargain.Soviet Heavy said:Why would I trade in the system that has all my favorite games on it for a system I don't even want?

Uh, yeah, fuck that.
(If anyone can tell me how to actually insert these as images, I'd appreciate it).
You know, I feel the same. Last I checked, Sony beat them out by about one million console sales to date. But both have still sold 3 million or better. That's a million consoles sold each month. That's not bad business. There are plenty of companies that would be happy with those numbers. Give it another six months at this rate and both will be closing in on 10 million units sold (assuming the sales figures stay the same).AnthrSolidSnake said:They act like they are doing terrible...just because you're not on top this time doesn't mean you're doing bad. From what I've seen, the PS4 may be selling better, but barely. It's nothing compared to the last gen PS3 vs. 360 sales, and I didn't see any "Trade in your Xbox for credit towards a PS3" garbage.
Actually it sort of gets worse if you have PS+. Since November, I'm pretty sure I have downloaded over $100 dollars in games for my PS3 for free. I haven't even played them all, yet! Seriously, I need more time in the day, guys. Or, I need to live without employment. Anyone know what the winning lottery numbers will be?Neronium said:That's a terrible deal. I mean hell, the PS3 has a huge library and is getting a slew of new games this year alone. I mean hell, you'd probably get more use out of your PS3 and 360 than a PS4 or Xbox One at the moment. If it were Microsoft offering that for turning in your 360, then yeah that would make sense, but asking people to ditch the console of their competitor seems just desperate for some reason.
Irrelevant as that's just your opinion. Perhaps there are people who have a PS3 they're not using and want the XOne. Or maybe they just want to plain ol' sell it and don't want to get bent over so much by Gamestop's pricing. How about that? Did that even cross your mind at all?reiniat said:Theres no reason to sell your PS3
Because perhaps MAYBE it's more than just about what is cheaper? Either way, if you're really ready to lay down $400 for just a console, I don't think $100 more is really going to break your bank. And again, some people don't want a PS4 anyway. They want an XOne.reiniat said:And then since the PS4 is 100 bucks cheaper, why ditch your PS3 for an Xboner if you can keep your PS3 and buy a PS4 for the same price?
