BWAHAHAHAHA!

No really, I don't play Call of Duty but, isn't there an option to turn off people speaking on a headset?

Yeah... I think so too. I mean you think you're safe hiding behind the microphone. I'm glad it happened. Not sorry to say that.

"We'd had a bit of a joke." Anyone else think he might have provoked him?

Game is rated M. Maybe that mom will reel in her kid.

So it's totally OK for a grown up like him to choke a child, almost killing him if it were not for the mum's intervention. Also, that's why I am pro-gun. If it were my kid, I would have gladly shot a few rounds in that old man chubby ass.
It entertains me that you'd rather murder someone than raise your child properly. Because, let's be honest here: if the kid had been raised properly, none of this would have happened.

If I'd been the kid in question (many moons have passed since I could lay claim to that title), I can pretty much predict what would have happened; my father would have stopped him at the door, and after it all settled down, beat seven shades of hell out of me for being an obnoxious little prick.
In this case no one stopped him at the door, he was already strangling the hypothetical you. What would your dad do in that case? Let him take his frustration off you because you 'deserved' it. Stop projecting, just because some kid bad mouthed you on a VIDEO GAME doesn't give you the right to kick his ass because you can't handle it. If you are fine if some stranger barge into your house and beat your kid, more the power to you, I don't think others will take kindly to take.

And no, it's not murder, he is on my property, hurting my kid, it's called defending my family.

Kid shouldn't be bad-mouthing people regardless; assuming that for some reason the door was unlocked and the individual got to child-me first, yeah, sure, the situation would have been calmed down and then I'd have gotten my ass kicked.

Which, in all honesty, is pretty much exactly what happened when I was a child, and a member of an opposing team at a soccer game complained that I struck him on the field (point in fact, I hadn't) and his father stormed in and started shaking me like a British nanny.

My father intervened, calmed the situation, and after he'd determined I was alright, immediately began to interrogate me as to whether or not the allegations were true. Had they been, or had he not believed me... beating.

Most places in the civilized world, if you don't give him a chance to surrender after you pull the gun, it's murder. Or manslaughter at the very least. There are exceptions, of course, states and countries where the castle doctrine holds sway, but even then, it can be difficult to argue just arbitrarily gunning down an invader.

So, again, we're back to calming the situation rather than just randomly gunning down the madman that you, for reasons unknown, allowed into your home.

If your child is an obnoxious little prick, that's your fault, and frankly I'd argue that you should be strung up next to him for the public flagellation you both deserve.

Haha, you are a funny one. The kid didn't steal, murder, or hurt anyone. He just bad mouthed a man-child online, and for that he should deserve a public flagellation? You should move to Saudi Arabia, you will do just great in their civilized society.

I will leave it at that. You probably believe you should be protected from every crime you commit because you were wronged ... by a little kid ... over a video game.

Personally, I am disappointed at the number of people defending that prick. Either you folks never heard of the MUTE feature, or you need to grow a thick skin. Getting bad mouthed by a little kid online is no reason for attempted murder. But I suppose that's kay, he asked for it!!!!

Mess with the bull and apparently you get strangled by a middle-aged man. Not saying at all what he did was right, but this should serve as an efficient cautionary tale for anyone thinking that they can be as much of an ass as they want online and not have to worry about it.

To prove a point, and teach this kid a lesson, he should walk into the worst neighborhood he lives near, we give him a head set attached to a bullhorn, and he can talk all the shit he wants. See what happens.

Too many of these little fucks get a head set and think, "Oh, I'm totally gonna be a little bastard because even though I KNOW it's wrong, nothing bad will happen." I wish we lived in a less tolerant society.

Yes, I obviously have a very thin skin, and am prone to respond with horrendous violence whenever anyone says something I don't like. Which is clearly why I stormed into your home and choked the very life from you, and am currently debating with myself using your account.

Or maybe I think we should just discipline our kids a bit better before they all turn into obnoxious little twats like the one who nearly got his ass choked out in the original article.

Because you clearly believe that kids should be free to be as obnoxious and disrespectful as they like to anyone they like, because hey, it's not like they're lighting houses on fire or anything.

Don't misunderstand, I fully support his right to say whatever the hell he wants to say. I just also happen to support the right of the wronged party in such a verbal exchange to educate the little punk on the fact that sometimes, running your mouth will just get you hurt.

Kid should have copped a beating from his parents. If the parents are unwilling to provide it, someone obviously has to fill the gap.

Yep, sounds like an average CoD player. I'm not saying everyone is like that; maybe I've just had bad luck when I play. But you know there are some players that take their game too seriously. 'Tis why I prefer to remain anonymously and only befriend real friends. :]

Don't even get me started on those who can't lose to a girl...

Or the fact that now we'll have CoD Elite...

Or that MW3 is coming out...

And Battlefield 3...

And a whole bunch of FPS...

Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating.

You know what? I've had so many games ruined because of asshole 13-year olds (and I'm not talking about CoD here) that I can only be happy about what he did.

The only reason these little cretins (who shouldn't even be allowed to play by the parents, but obviously they couldn't be arsed to give 'em a proper education, why care about a little rating) can be such douches online is because they know nobody can do shit to them. Talk so much shit in real life, and you are going to get smacked around.

A few more events like this, and the internet might just become a slightly better place.

Kudos Sir, mental illness or not.

Again, where did I say I believe "kids should be free to be as obnoxious and disrespectful as they like". You actually support violence on a KID by an ADULT who is 3x older than him, an Adult with three kids under his charge who cannot control himself, and barge into the house of another family to hurt their kid. This is not about a little brat who deserves a spanking (hell, that would have been funny), but an adult man strangling a child because he couldn't handle comments made in a video game, comments he could have easily ignored with the MUTE feature.

Eh... No. 13-year-olds are allowed to be stupid...
HEY WOAH! lets stop right there, they have no right to be ignorant. they are ignorant because they are fucking stupid or their parents don't care enough. I was a smart 13 year old and I learned to cheat the system, thats how I got through 6th and 7th grade. Lets no go jumping and making conclusions that just because of someones age doesn't take away moral culpability. He knew it was wrong to do what he did yet he did it anyway.

Yeah, I hate kids on any multiplayer game. Especially when they still have a squeaky voice and sound like a little *****. Super mom to the rescue though. If she hadn't intervened we'd have once less annoying ***** to live with.... Wait, thats a bad thing?

Here's an easier way to say it, Their both ethically wrong and need to take classes on how not to be pricks, teach mother to know what is appropriate for their child/ watch them play and say to them what is and is not correct in the modern society. Jobs done, off to solve another simple problem with a simple solution. *flys away*
