They seem to agree that Window 8 provides an unpleasant vista into the future of PC gaming
In all seriousness, that's not far from the truth.
I've always said Microsoft works in twos.
First they release an OS, running on a new platform architecture, that's buggy, unstable, and just plain awful. Then, two or three years later the "new" OS comes out to much praise. Except that it's the same as the last OS, just with a majority of the bugs and instabilities fixed.
Just look at their release history:
Windows 95 - broken and unstable
Windows 98 - same architecture as 95, but stable
Windows ME - broken and unstable
Windows XP - again, same architecture as ME but functional
Windows Vista - third times
not the charm; broken and unstable
Windows 7 - same exact architecture as Vista but, gasp!, functional (except for audio support. windows 7 HATES audio hardware)
As you can see, history all but dictates that Windows 8 will be a buggy, glitchy, unstable, half-assed mess of an OS. So...the comments from Notch and Gabe Newell, while insightful, are irrelevant to me. I had no plans on even considering Win8. I'll be waiting for Microsofts next OS to judge their contemporary architecture.
