So now that Minecraft is done which one of the Escapist reviewers will actually review it. I mean at this point EVERYONE anywhere near games has bought the thing. ( its a third the price of a AAA title.) I think Susan would probably be best at reviewing it from a unbiased stance. Does anyone else have an opinion on this....?
I think it would be awesome if they all put in their two bits, sharing their favorite parts of the game. One can review Creative mode, another Survival, another the Multiplayer, and the fourth anything left over plus a top ten of Escapist's favorite mods for Minecraft.
Okay, a little bit of rumor control to help the confused masses:

What someone made after Notch said there would be a sky land
I'm pretty sure the Aether mod a suggestion for Minecraft, then later actually started by modders, then Notch said he was going to make a skyland, and then he made that...
Notch never seemed happy with how the Skyland he was working on was coming out. Making it into the End seemed like a fair change of plan. He never said he was going to completely nix giving us a skyland. It just will happen in an after release update. In the meantime those who really want their skyland can enjoy the Aether mod, which some people seem to forget is actually possible because Notch supports mods of Minecraft. Something more and more other companies are restricting.

So now everythings just going to be DLC. well that sucks now we'll actually have to start paying for updates (including possibly the dragon if it isnt available now [I havent kept up on my updates]). Well, guess 1.0 is the most recent my Minecraft game will be.
Updates are not going to be charged for after release. If Mojang makes an actual expansion to the game, something beyond just a handful of new content, then that might be charged for but they have never said for certain that they ever plan to. Those who joined back before Minecraft went to Beta definitely don't have to worry about that at all.
Considering the list price of the game is going to be $30 for Americans, any expansions will probably just be $10 the most. Small change, I say.

If you want that 25% discount for purchasing the game during its extended beta
Wait. So i DONT get the game for free as promised for buying the beta? Is no one else upset by this? That's one of the reasons i bought the damn thing early! While it may be a quaint game, your presumed 'popularity' over this game, notch, is making you an ass. first, you take on bethesda by BLATANTLY saying "my games better than yours. so im going to release it on the same day as skyrim." then, in the interview with todd howard, you basically shat your pants in complete fear.so now where do you get off thinking you can screw me over by telling me that your backing out on your word of giving the game to me for free since i bought the beta. Not to mention the blatant rip off of all the modders out there...
I won't be buying this. Plain and simple.
That is not what it says. Anybody who hasn't bought the game yet still has to the 18th to pay the Beta price, otherwise they have to pay full price after Release. Anyone who has bought it before the 18th merely has to wait for the update to be released. No contracts, no blood oaths, no extra charges. If you bought it during Beta, you get the whole game for just $25. If you bought it sooner like during Alpha, you got it for less. There are no extra charges for when the game hits Release. I hope this clears this up for you so you can take advantage of the Beta price.

As long as 1.0 fixes that friggin' glitch that makes some computers (mine included) use up 2GB of RAM per minute, I'll be happy.
That's the thing about going gold. You're not in beta anymore. You no longer have an excuse if your game has a game-breaking problem like that.
Doesn't stop EA, Ubisoft, or Bethesda from letting that happen when they release their games. And that memory leak got plugged with prerelease 5.
Anyway, I am looking forward to Release Day. I will be working that night, which means I will probably be sacrificing any sleep I usually get after a shift. Oh well, that's what Red Bull is for.
Let's go dig a hole!
