Minecraft-like game, except 2d!

Just a little video a came across for a new game called terraria, it's almost done and looks like a 2d version of Minecraft. The worlds are randomly generated and it's more focused on combat.

What do you guys think after watching this vid?

More enemies, better combat, npcs, and more... maybe you should watch the vid before you start blindly hating hit.

Because people like it. Kinda is offensive when you use gay but oh well.

Wha, is that a riff on Minecraft? Because in beta, right now the game is good enough to ship. Besides shipping for Minecraft is just a formality, it won't have some huge (as far as we know by now) overhaul. Purchase Minecraft now and that's kind of the game on the 11th

It looks pretty cool and I bet it eliminates at least some of the confusion that comes with huge caves, but I didn't see much building involved, and, well, that's ninety percent of the patented "Minecraft Experience"

Uh, Gay is homosexual, meaning you prefer the same gender.
Heterosexual is that you prefer the other gender, the most common.

Doesnt look really challenging and interesting to me, reminds me of Little Fighters 2 to be honest. Although I don't play Minecraft, I'd still rather play Minecraft than Terraria.

exactly what i was thinking as i watched it.
If someone walked up to me and said "what if there was a game like minecraft except in 2D" I wold kindly ask them what kind of drugs they were on. After watching the video it doesn't look like they were on anything but *puts on sunglasses* The minecraft bandwagon (yeahhhhhh!!)

I have to say, I'm not interested in this at all.
It looks like it's trying to appeal to two very separate crowds, and will not do well at getting the attention of either.

If you're a fan of building things, you probably already own Minecraft and will have no reason to buy this, if you're a fan of combat, you're probably playing a game featuring your preferred choice of murder.

The two genres don't fit very well at all, so forcing your players to partake in both aspects will turn people off.

I like how when minecraft become popular, every indie and AAA Developer and there mama is trying to one up minecraft to see if the golden goose will lay another egg. As for this game. Looks interesting, but doubt I'm going to try it.
