To be fair, Minecraft is a rip off of an earlier game as <url=http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Infiniminer>well.CardinalPiggles said:also, its just a blatant rip-off really, and im inclined to hate it from day one.
He compared it to minecraft himself.BillNyeTheColonelGuy said:Just because it's got mining in it people automatically assume it's a ripoff of minecraft?
Get out of mojang's arse. This focuses on a completely different aspect of gameplay.
And does half of Mojang's money belong to ToadyOne of Dwarf Fortress fame then?Extragorey said:Wow, I read about this in Notch's tweet just before I saw this thread.
Anyway, every game like minecraft that isn't minecraft (3D or not) owes at least half of its profits to Mojang, as far as I'm concerned.
Seriously, cloning a core concept to build off the success of another (unaffiliated) game or developer is just downright dishonourable.
Well no but i think even if i did my computer couldnt run it, its got a real issue with any game that above the level of a flash gameWoodsey said:Have you actually tried it on minimum and reduced the draw distance?The_Blue_Rider said:So then whats my computers excuse for not being able to run it?Woodsey said:I have watched the video. I can confirm it looks, and this is the technical term, "fucking pointless". Especially when you can run Minecraft using some pubic hair, a rock, and a hamster running in a wheel.YourMom said:More enemies, better combat, npcs, and more... maybe you should watch the vid before you start blindly hating hit.

It also looks like you might level up and/or gain more max stars along the way.
Tons of questions about it though and I don't see anything but the one trailer video on the website.
Can you enjoy the game solo? Those bosses look like they were made to fight with multiple characters for instance.
Is there a leveling system? Different weapons etc to fight with?
How does crafting work etc.
Tons of stuff that would need to be answered. A demo of the game would also be very useful although the trailer does make it look worth playing. Still really need to have more information. The 3 people with low post counts and no avatar (and not including the OP) all love it.spacewalker said:did you see the boss battles in the end? this looks like it could be a great game.
Veeeeeery interesting.
*suspicious eyes*
no game is really, but my point was, this game is trying to ride on minecraft's coat tails, and without even try to sugar coat it, all they have done is made combat a little more frequent, and made the game a whole lot more casual and (im assuming) accessible.Torrasque said:To be fair, Minecraft is a rip off of an earlier game as <url=http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Infiniminer>well.CardinalPiggles said:also, its just a blatant rip-off really, and im inclined to hate it from day one.
I still enjoy Minecraft, and I don't mind the rip off-ness. Minecraft is much better than Infiniminer as well. I just don't like it when people scream "INNOVATION!" when its not really at all =|
I like both, but if I'm building I'd rather not be killing things, and if I'm killing things I don't really need to be building in the same game. Keep the genres seperate.ZeZZZZevy said:I have to say, I'm not interested in this at all.
It looks like it's trying to appeal to two very separate crowds, and will not do well at getting the attention of either.
If you're a fan of building things, you probably already own Minecraft and will have no reason to buy this, if you're a fan of combat, you're probably playing a game featuring your preferred choice of murder.
The two genres don't fit very well at all, so forcing your players to partake in both aspects will turn people off.
Basically this. Plus the OP mentions further down it takes away the "confusion" of caves. The caves aren't confusing, they're there to explore! That's what I prefer about minecraft, is it's more in-depth than this.sethzard said:It looks incredibly dull. Minecraft it better, this doesn't have the same kind of freedom to build
Do the developers of every FPS since 1993 owe half their profits to id Software? Everybody complaining about this being a Minecraft ripoff is being completely ridiculous.Extragorey said:Wow, I read about this in Notch's tweet just before I saw this thread.

I didn't say cloning a genre; I said cloning a core concept - i.e., a pivotal gameplay mechanic. Like portals, or detective vision, or nanosuits. Or more specifically, the features that each gameplay mechanic provides, not the mere presence of said items.GiantRaven said:Do the developers of every FPS since 1993 owe half their profits to id Software?
