Minecraft-like game, except 2d!

Because people like it. Kinda is offensive when you use gay but oh well.

Actually assuming that being gay is a bad thing is offensive but I agree it did sound like he was having a go at people that like minecraft plus he can't spell offensive therefore I can confidently state I am a better human being than him.

More enemies, better combat, npcs, and more... maybe you should watch the vid before you start blindly hating hit.

I have watched the video. I can confirm it looks, and this is the technical term, "fucking pointless". Especially when you can run Minecraft using some pubic hair, a rock, and a hamster running in a wheel.

The game looks great, might even be better then minecraft for those of us that like combat more. It also looks like you might level up and/or gain more max stars along the way.

Tons of questions about it though and I don't see anything but the one trailer video on the website.

Can you enjoy the game solo? Those bosses look like they were made to fight with multiple characters for instance.

Is there a leveling system? Different weapons etc to fight with?

How does crafting work etc.

Tons of stuff that would need to be answered. A demo of the game would also be very useful although the trailer does make it look worth playing. Still really need to have more information.

did you see the boss battles in the end? this looks like it could be a great game.

Just a little video a came across for a new game called terraria, it's almost done and looks like a 2d version of Minecraft. The worlds are randomly generated and it's more focused on combat.

I don't really want to hop on the hate-bang-wagon but Terraria just looks like a cynical cash in on Minecraft's popularity. Doesn't mean it's not fun, mind.

Just read the entire thread and just have repeat what other people are saying

It's an interesting game but titling the thread comparing it to minecraft just makes me judge it to minecraft in which case, minecraft wins out due to many factors. Such as the price tag ( it seems to be a bit steep on a PC game where I can get a more advanced game for a much cheaper price. If it was free and on a flash game site, it would probably be a winnar as kids at school generally play those types of games at school.

Although if it was on the ds I would be tempted to buy it.

It looks pretty cool and I bet it eliminates at least some of the confusion that comes with huge caves, but I didn't see much building involved, and, well, that's ninety percent of the patented "Minecraft Experience"

Have you actually tried it on minimum and reduced the draw distance?

Diablo II. World of Warcraft. Zelda.

Neither of those have anything to do with Minecraft, though, and Terraria seems to be missing the point of the game if it's really trying to emulate it in 2D.

Well I understand you are trying to promote this but:
- doesn't have the Minecraft charm (3d is very important there)
- right now the gameplay does not look good (needs alot of polish)
- if they won't have a low price noone will be picking it over Minecraft

But it they can go a different direction then Minecraft and add a more fluid spin to it and it can be an incredibly fun explorer + hack&slash game.
