Minecraft Multiplayer Brought Down by DDoS Attack

Ok, I posted a thread that made me mention 4chan made me have an apiphany, people said "Well 4chan isn't always that bad" the instant there's a thread involving the words "4chan" "DDoS" and "Minecraft" you all freaking go "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!". That is very hypocritical of all of you. No offense, but THIS must be why you guys are considered the most self-centered jackasses on the internet. YOU'RE ALL. FUCKING. HYPOCRITES. Go ahead, report me, get mad at me, call me a troll. I'm not a troll, I'm not trying to get you mad, I'm not trying to get banned. I'm just stating the facts, apparently if 4chan even LOOKS at Minecraft funny, you all go Knights' fucking Templar, but if someone has a positive result of 4chan they go "They're not that bad of a site". Seriously, all of you should go eat a bag of dicks.

The bolded bits make the italic bits really rather ironic. Calm down and try again.

I do feel that this is grossly counterproductive and a fine example of Failure To Read, considering there's a whacking great update coming on the 31st, probably more than the content of 5 weekly updates, and had been promoted as such for a couple of weeks now.

When I said "I'm not trying to get you mad, I'm not trying to troll, and I'm not trying to get banned, I'm merely stating the facts", is basically saying it's in vain if someone does or assumes so.

I was focusing on the "not trying to get you mad, not trying to get banned" bit because the bits I bolded look like someone trying to get people mad at you and generally trying to get yourself banned in my opinion. That was my point. As I said before, calm down and try again.

The hilarious thing is that AFAIK Notch hasn't transferred the money from himself to the fledgling company yet. Besides not wanting to commit an epic dick move, what's to stop him from saying "Repeated server attacks has made further development impossible. Thanks for the money, bye!" and vanishing? (Or just vanishing with no fanfare?)

Such arrogance to presume the right to talk for an entire community in such an obstructive fashion; especially when there are massively outnumbered by the thousands of contented and supportive members of the minecraft community. Yeah, I'm pretty ticked off at them too, but I want to clarify that ruining the fun of others doesn't always make you scum. in this case it does, because it was for very selfish reasons, but I think of a number of situations where it doesn't. For instance, calling the cops on a bunch of teenagers hitting a homeless guy with bats is going to ruin their fun. However, you're not scum for it.

I'd stop the game for awhile and start writing out refunds. If indeed these gents are not affiliated with 4chan, then no doubt 4chan would find them and deliver swift judgment soon enough. Then I could happily start work on the game again.

Oh the horror that we should get mad when we collectively get gut-punched. Don't you theoretically undergo exactly the same kind of hypocrisy upon buying a package of meat? If you were forced to work under the conditions most meatpackers do, you'd be pissed off too.

Also, I have never endorsed 4Chan as "a good site" in any form that I can remember. Generalizations are incredibly wonderful things.

Ive always felt that it was a poor decision to start selling the game in alpha stage. Any changes to the game will be met with criticism when the game isnt even at a release phase yet because people feel they have rights to what the game should be like just because they bought it.

Also for the record I view /b/ as a sizable collection of people that have a ton of power but misuse it way too often. I think its nice to respect them for the stuff they do that is actually helpful to the internet but the harmful stuff outweighs this by an extreme margin. Please note that Im not saying that either /b/ had anything to do with this. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if someone from /b/ catches the culprit.

OT: Whoever IS doing this needs to be caught somehow. Notch is a good guy, he made a hit indie game by himself and has done nothing to warrant such an attack.

How much fun did you guys have with Minecraft so far? Worth the 10 euros? Is the game suddenly less fun or more expensive once constant updates are brought it?

Oh wait, no. Notch could have just released Alpha as the finished version and, hell, it would still be fun, and it could even compete on the mainstream market if it had some real advertising power behind it.

In fact, he could have done that as well as raise the price to 15 euros. Nobody would have complained.

Now then, compare that to the situation with Minecraft right now.
