"Go outside like I did"

When I was a kid I tried that but every parent kept their kids inside for fear of pedophiles.

Any surprise that a mass media public (? Don't actually know about the public part as I'm not American... maybe it's just for people who read those annoying magazine that explains why Star X and Star Y should bang each other) figure is saying this, or is it just me?

Also, no you can't become anything you want to be. If that were the case, then why the hell are there so many dustbinmen and postmen? That can't be what people aspire to be for the rest of their lives!

Don't both of them look like sticks...?

Video games teach kids a myriad of different things, but if they try, they can be judged for their looks alone. Go fuck yourself Miss America.
Quoted for truths.

Also, this isnt the century of sticks or science silly! This is the century of Maps!

ahahahahahaha go play outside like her?

Maybe one day I can look forward to winning a useless award based on my looks if only I just put down Left 4 Dead 2!

Why do we still have this pageant? Does anyone actually watch it, or even care? Well, the OP already said what I would say:
That's right, kids: When all else fails, you can put on a bikini, climb up on a stage and shake your moneymaker for Rush Limbaugh. Dare to dream!
This is the age of free porn. Do I care about bikini clad ditzes on tv? Nope.

So what? I advocate burning down "civilized" society and eliminating billions of lives, because overpopulation is a root cause of nearly every major problem for humanity and the world. If I have to be one of those eliminated so be it.
This. Though I'm sure people will do it to themselves at the clip we are going now. A man can dream...

She just comes across as a pageant contestant who has to give an opinion (no matter how uninformed of unqualified the contestant) an whatever topic she is brought to instead of admitting she doesn't know enough on the subject to comment on the matter. It's just what they do >_>

I'm not sure how much value you can put on the opinion of a model that has been named Miss America; a title given based mostly on appearance. If she was dishing out tips to girls on fashion or how to look pretty, I could understand it. Even from the perspective of her degree, if she was commenting on the broadcasting of different countries or even how television or radio can be significantly improved, it's fair enough. However, she's commenting not only on video-games but she's commenting on developmental psychology and the sociology of how this current generation is developing in relation to work ethics.

Since she lacks any form of qualification of sociology or psychology which I think I can safely make that assumption, I think it's safe to say she can choke on her opinion since she clearly thinks that since she is crowned Miss America, she is worth something and is worth listening to. The only thing she may be worth is the inspiration of shallow girls and the gawking and sexual comments from shallow men.

Back in my day, all we had was a stick and our imagination. None of this fancy shmancy video games, wasting away the days trying to kill stupid pixels. NO! We wasted our time playing with STICKS and IMAGINATION and RAINBOWS and UNICORNS! That's productive, you video game idiots.

This is an example of a pageant person giving an ignorant statement about something they know nothing about. It is all that the interview parts of pageants are, and its very irritating.

heh this reminds me of my days of running around with my friends, us swinging sticks at each other in elaborate fashions while yelling out techniques and/or magic from video games. It was like larping except we were kids and it was cool. I do kind of agree but while kids don't need to be taken away from TV and video games entirely we had a lot of fun running around playing as our favorite heroes, I wouldn't force or "encourage" your kid to do this if they don't want to though.

So...she wants young children to play out in the streets? Where there are, um, cars? Does she want them to get run over, or is she just an idiot?

Oh, wait, she's Miss America. Answered my own question...

And besides, if ANYONE should be allowed to decide what our children get to play with, it's our children! Within reason, of course, but seriously, they're not complete liabilities incapable of any logical thought, at least not if they're 2 years or younger.

They can make their own decisions and I for one think they should be given a choice between videogames/TV/whatever and reading a book.

I think she's being a bit blind in that statement. I mean I've been playing video games for most of my life yet I love getting out and about (And yes, growing up, next to playing games [We're talking in the era of Halo CE] running around armed with a backyard, imagination and sticks was something I loved doing with friends).
