ModDB Shuts Down School Shooter Mod

I see comments that basically say: This mod is pointless, it's setting us back, does not add to anything.
Well friend, have 5 call of duty sequels added a lot? We have trash games coming out all the time, that don't contribute anything new or better.
Apparently killing everything and everyone in sight in GTA is perfectly alright, but when your are confined to a small place and you targets are limited to a very small amount/limited type of that aforementioned everything, the world is suddenly ending. It's an abomination that deserves to be erased!

I'm going to stick to the medium even if things go murky in other people's opinion.
I hate Bieber and Twilight but, did I gather other individuals of similar line of though to start a campaign to erase those things, just because I don't like them? No. I think they are toxic to the young minds just like some people think Dead Space is going to make children crazy murderers. Regardless of how terrible His songs are, and those books/movies, they are an artistic expression, and must not be banned by the decree of hatred.

I figured the mod would be pretty good fun until i realised what a pile of arse it was. There were no models, so it was just a stock half life 2 game where you kill the annoying AI civilians.
On top of that, you weren't even able to wage a proper fight the SWAT teams. You'd just kill unarmed people until you die from bullet wounds.

I'm all for artistic freedom and I think people should be allowed to do games, movies, books and what not about whatever the hell they desire to. Mass murder included.
That being said, I also respect the decision of the site to take it down if they didn't agree with it.

I never had an issue with the mod. National (and international) tragedies will happen. Something bad will eventually happen to people that don't deserve it, usually by some idiot, or group of idiots, that can't handle life. It's sad. It's unfortunate. But it happens. My problem, was it garnered so much attention that it brought Jack Thompson back to the scene. If the mod used actual children models I could understand all the outrage. But it didn't. It was just some moron trying to get some attention. And he succeeded, thanks to over reactions by various people, and articles bringing the steaming pile of dung that is his mod to light.
However, it was his right to waste his troll time in making a mod, as it's the site's right to decide the mod is pure crap and doesn't deserve a slot.
As previously stated by others, the mod maker is a troll. Don't feed the trolls. This never should have been mentioned in the first place, because just it getting one article gives it more attention than it deserves. And gives Jackey-boy more ammunition.
Of course, he's incapable of any actual accuracy, so I suppose giving him all the ammo in the world won't really matter.

So your argument is that if I support freedom of expression, I must showcase all the crap I can find? That's absurd. ModDB removing the mod doesn't mean they're not in support of freedom of expression, it means they don't want to host content they feel is deliberately in poor taste. You don't picket your local library for not stocking Playboy or Hustler in the periodicals section saying that the library suppresses the freedom of expression.Belated said:

OT: Good for ModDB. I don't know if Pawnstick is trolling or a complete nutjob, but he's free to keep doing his thing. His freedom's intact. But no one is obligated to help him. No one has to publish this for him.
Why is everyone so worked up about it? It's just a piece of shit mod by a cheap attention whore. And his plan is working as far as I can see.

People wanna cry about a school shooting game, how many children do you wipe off the face of the earth when you nuke a city in a Civilization game? How many do you wipe out in the blink of an eye if you set off the nuke in Megaton? How many people do you murder if you decimate a city in Rome Total War? In the case of this atrocity, one modding database decided it wouldn't stand for a thoroughly reprehensible murder-simulator without any kind of redeeming features.
Their right, their decision.
No major upset. The creators are free to distribute it through other channels.
But hopefully, another horrible mod fades into obsurity.
Sad that this got taken down. Who cares what people say? Its your fucking work and you should be allowed to do what you damn well please with it. Not harming anyone in real life so what does it matter? If anyone calls this training for shooting up a school then you seriously need to get your head checked.
I am happy with this outcome. This mod has every right to exist, yes. And I would never stand in the way of their ability to create it, but a lot of people seem to forget that ModDB also has the right to decide what content they wish to host, and if they feel that it's in the best interests of their company to remove support of this one mod, I have a hard time arguing with it. If you feel otherwise, feel free to help Pawnstick find a hosting site for his work. I for one, will breathe a sigh of relief that I won't have to justify this abomination to anyone.
I understand that games can be art and freedom of speech is necessary. What isn't necessary is this. This is not making games art; this is an immature middle finger to society's ignorance to video games.
Well, speaking as someone who's REALLY into free speech and protection of it... I can't help but still agree. This isn't a game. This is trolling in the form of a video game. And just like moderating troll posts isn't a violation of free speech (imo), neither is removing this game.
