And yet nobody listens to me.Dr_Steve_Brule said:lol I know that guy from Facepunch, he's a total troll

This pretty much sums up how I feel about the whole matter.Candrian said:'Pawnstick should have the right to free speech' yadda yadda yadda.
They do. The internet is there, all they have to do is host the files themselves and find someone insane/stupid enough to advertise it and they can get back to licking windows to their hearts' content.
Strangely enough, ModDB also has the right to say 'No f***ing way are we associating ourselves with that.' It's their site, their bandwidth and, face it, their reputation that can be sunk by it.
You have a right to say what you want, but this is pretty much like filming horse porn in a neighbours living room. Once he finds out about your little kinky business he's gonna have a problem with it.
So your argument is that if I support freedom of expression, I must showcase all the crap I can find? That's absurd. ModDB removing the mod doesn't mean they're not in support of freedom of expression, it means they don't want to host content they feel is deliberately in poor taste. You don't picket your local library for not stocking Playboy or Hustler in the periodicals section saying that the library suppresses the freedom of expression.Belated said:You don't get it. You just don't get it do ya? "Free Speech" means ALL Speech. You can't get rid of something just because you don't agree with it. Even if half the world disagrees with it. Even if ALL of the world disagrees with it. Even if all of the world including the creator himself disagreed with it. IT. DOES. NOT. MATTER. The only media acceptable to ban is the kind that violates the rights of others. I'm talking about stuff like snuff films, CP, and videos taken without a person's consent, that have no use in any legal proceedings. This was a mod some dude made by himself. He didn't violate anybody's rights in making it. He was just exercising his own creativity. And ModDB are a bunch of cowards.
It happened to be a really crappy sense of creativity, but it was his creativity nonetheless and he had a right to exercise it. And anybody who disagrees is a freakin' hypocrite. Why is it that when it's something you disagree with, it's just filth that you're glad to be rid of? But when it's something you like, it's censorship and a violation of rights? No. BOTH cases are censorship and a violation of rights. Personal opinions about "art" have no place in a discussion of free speech. Nothing is art. Everything is art. Everybody has a right to express what they feel is art, even if nobody else agrees with them. And Jack Thompson is a freedom-hating terrorist.
Now granted, ModDB did have a right to get rid of his work. They're not the government. They're an independently run website that can do what they want. However! They claim to support free speech. NO. THEY. DO. NOT. They support free speech when it suits them, and oppose it when it could hurt them.
Thank you thank you thank you. Finally somebody with some guts. People wanna cry about a school shooting game, how many children do you wipe off the face of the earth when you nuke a city in a Civilization game? How many do you wipe out in the blink of an eye if you set off the nuke in Megaton? How many people do you murder if you decimate a city in Rome Total War? Nobody who has played any of those has any moral highground.MetalGenocide said:I see comments that basically say: This mod is pointless, it's setting us back, does not add to anything.
Well friend, have 5 call of duty sequels added a lot? We have trash games coming out all the time, that don't contribute anything new or better.
Apparently killing everything and everyone in sight in GTA is perfectly alright, but when your are confined to a small place and you targets are limited to a very small amount/limited type of that aforementioned everything, the world is suddenly ending. It's an abomination that deserves to be erased!
haahhahahahahahahahahaha
"We toooooooooootaly respect freedom of speech and everyone is entitled...*looks at engry e-mails* KILL IT WITH FIRE!".
A school shooting is more terrible, than any of the hundreds of wars that happened in history? Wars which by the way, tons of games were made about?
Give me a fucking break.
Remember this phrase?
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
I do.
I'm going to stick to the medium even if things go murky in other people's opinion.
I hate Bieber and Twilight but, did I gather other individuals of similar line of though to start a campaign to erase those things, just because I don't like them? No. I think they are toxic to the young minds just like some people think Dead Space is going to make children crazy murderers. Regardless of how terrible His songs are, and those books/movies, they are an artistic expression, and must not be banned by the decree of hatred.
No, it's not.Bhaalspawn said:This is Six Days in Fellujah all over again.
I was defending this piece of shit because I value freedom of speech. But that quote crossed the line, this guy is criminally insane and should be locked away. That is all.Greg Tito said:Another interviewer at Beefjack.com asked Pawnstick who the intended audience of School Shooter is and he replied, "Anyone who wants to be a school shooter, but is too big of a pussy to actually do anything."

I agree the mod is in highly poor taste. But then I disagree with ALOT of things I'm just too lazy to march my personal army (see: a dachshund and Pokemon figurine collection) upon the hapless souls who craft objects of my ire.
It has the right to exist, but if ModDB doesn't want that rep I don't effing blame them. Take that crap off your listings pronto.
