Regardless, you just made it clear your view that you are under the impression that an expensive game is good because it is clear it had a high production value. That is complete bullshit, and i could name many many expensive but terrible games. More money does not equal good. I know that you are now saying "go read reviews", but that is a poor retort in regards to the original topic of discussion in which you clearly stated "have you ever bought an expensive game that was bad ? I can't think of any."; you said nothing prior to your reply about reading reviews being key to buying a good game.Agrael said:That is why reviews are for.Kstreitenfeld said:You don't buy to many new games do you? Many new games that come out with a full price tag end up being really bad.Agrael said:Oh come on, does it hurt to raise the price of the game ? Think how much effort goes into a game - have you ever bought an expensive game that was bad ? I can't think of any.
The last HORRIBLE game I bought (And for my defence - i was drunk and just came from an all-nighter) was Shellshock. Now that game can eat a shit-paddle-over.
But no, if I KNOW and SEE that the game will most likely fullfill my expecations - I shall buy it! But i don't go random gameshopping.
Yeah, I remember paying £50 for the special edition of Halo 3(not the legendary edition). £55 is too much for a base game. That being said, I'm still going to buy it. It has a christmas-time release, and I still live with my parents so score for me.MarsProbe said:Bah, that's just annoying. If that was the only game I had my eye on due to be released around that time, it would be okay, but as it isn't, my purchase of MW2 will likely be put on hold for a while.
That's the price I'd perhaps expect to pay for the Hardened Edition, but certainly not the vanilla package...
It's not possible to judge the situation that simply whats sweedens average wage by comparision to America or the UK? What about the exchange rate? Unemployment rate its 1 job to every 10 people here in Scotland at the moment In the current climate it is alot of money for us because our situation is different.Aanorith said:When did 100 bucks become expensive for a game? All new games released in Sweden goes for 100-110$.
Indeed. The economic state of affairs is far from ideal right now and I can't imagine things being much better in the months approaching Christmas. As such, £55 does seem to be an exorbitant price for a game, regardless of it's profile or level of polish.Nmil-ek said:It's not possible to judge the situation that simply whats sweedens average wage by comparision to America or the UK? 1.) Reviews are a matter of opinion and you know it. It doesn't mean anything.Agrael said:That is why reviews are for.

All is fine and dandy... but ACTIVISION focused more on gameplay ?Terramax said:1.) Reviews are a matter of opinion and you know it. It doesn't mean anything.Agrael said:That is why reviews are for.

But hey, if you KNOW the game is going to be awesome, then I'm sure you wouldn't mind paying £100.. or even £200, right? After all, if you KNOW the game is going to be that fun, then it'll be worth every penny?
Of course not. So where do you draw the line? If these companies get away with £55 a game, then what's the say they won't find an excuse to put it up to £65 in a year or two?
Anyway, what gets me about this is that they say the part reason also is due to the costs of production. Well that's not the fault of the consumer, that's the fault of the company that puts too much time and money into graphics instead of gameplay.
Pretty much the only game I've been playing in the last 2 weeks is Quake Live. A game that's about 12 years old! Graphics are nothing special but it plays like a dream.
If Activision focused more on gameplay than graphics then perhaps production costs wouldn't be so sky high, and perhaps more copies of some of their games would sell more.
