I've been geting some reports (from some pretty reputable websites), that the PC version of Infinity Ward's new Shooter, Serious Sam V: Let's Get Silly, has been delayed indefinitely...

Haha, but seriously, According to some sources, the release date for Modern Warfare 2 has been delayed 2 weeks, to november 24th.

If this is true, this PISSES ME OFF, I'm a PC gamer, which means that I have to pretty much avoid all the gaming blogs/forums if I don't want my game spoiled by loud mouthed console gamers (who are still apparently get it on the 11th).

This is normal. Assassin's Creed 2 is another game that springs to mind that has been delayed purely for the PC.

The 'official' tagline is that the extra time is needed to 'ensure a smooth, satisfying and polished gaming experience' (or something along those lines) but the actual reason is to ensure that layers of CD protection and verification software are included to stave off piracy.

It's a great time to be a PC gamer! :(

*shrug* Get a console then? A second hand 360 should run for pretty cheap, and you'll get a load of good games that, let's face it, aren't designed for PCs.

Are you trying to get me angry? Considering that consoles owe their very heritage to PCs aside, the vast majority bar driving and perhaps sports titles work far, far superior on a mouse and keyboard setup than a controller. Couple this with sharper graphics and more often than not additional (and free!) features (Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Resident Evil 5) included for PC versions makes your entire argument void.

Not designed for PCs...pah! They're designed on the damn things!

DERP

"Well, the companies screwed me over because I prefer PC, that must mean I need an Xbox!"

The point of this is that PC gamers are getting screwed over, and it needs to stop.
People will still pirate. I know people who pirated AC1, then got excited for AC2. THen (hypocritically I may add), got mad when the PC version was delayed. However, you know what they said then? They were now going to pirate it for sure. Leaving me to rage moar.
IT was like when Publishers saw a bunch of good games coming out for PC, they said: We must save our stockholders!11!!1!1!
/rage

It's a never ending cycle. The harder developers try and protect their games, the longer it'll be delayed purely for the PC, the more people will get annoyed and, ultimately, be tempted to pirate the product itself.

With the surfacing of microtransactions and internet access in all games it makes much more sense to do what EA did with Sims 3. Allow piracy to happen. As the best bits of Sims 3 is only accessible online (through a valid CD key) the pirated versions merely played like a very, very, VERY good demo. If players wanted the full experience, they'd have to buy it legally.

The above example should be used much more widely, the only problem I can foresee is that every Sims game is infinite, it never truly ends. Whether gamers will want to pay for the 'full version' of a shooter if they've already finished the Campaign mode is...questionable.

Suck it up and just be glad it's two weeks and not two years.

I personally thought that the Batman: Arkham Asylum way of dealing with piracy was pretty good. Allowing the game to be played, but a key move is removed, meaning that the player can only play for thirty minutes or so before they literally cant progress any further. This seems to be the best way to combat piracy in my opinion.

Shock! Making a thread about a game on a gaming website on a forum that allows people to express an opinion! NOES!

Seriously?! Are you for real?

Pretty sure that Bungie quote wasn't about when games are coming out, and it defiantly wasn't about PC release dates being later. It's being used quite out of context.

Also is that quote going to be thrown around for every argument that people takes their hobby seriously now? If you going to quote that at least quote it because someone is stupid enough to argue how plasmids wouldn't work in Bioshock or something, at least then it's in context.

hmmm well I was in eb earlier today and I'm pretty sure they had the same "ZOMG 10th NOVEMBER JESUS FUCKING CHRIST" signs hung around that they usually do. Otherwise I dunno. If it has been pushed back two weeks I'm not too fazed. I haven't gotten around to pre-ordering it yet, I probably will eventually, but I'm not too omg about release dates.

Goddamnit! I'm sorry but that really ruined my morning, it makes me glad I pre-ordered Left 4 Dead 2 over that first. Now I'll have to sit through two-weeks of my console playing friends telling me how awesome the game is and I just have to sit and drool longingly into the distance. GWARRRR!

Yeah, and screw you too buddy. Ok, not really but I'm confused as to where all this hate for PC gamers comes from, I mean if the console version was delayed there would be panic in the streets, but if a lowly pc gamer complains they just get told to STFu and be glad they're getting the game at all. Isn't every console game really just a port of a Pc game? (since that's where they're designed I mean)although I guess the coding or whatnot is different.
All the hate for PC gamers comes from PC elitists

2 weeks won't change the world, and you PC gamers will all be happy when you can gloat about your superior version (because it will be). If it's delayed 2 weeks because they want to combat douchy cheapstakes i would suggest they take longer to make sure they have done it right.

In conclusion, you getting better version, you wait 2 weeks.

Look at the words. I don't care if it came from bungie or not.

Games are for escapism and immersion. NOT to get pissed off at when they are pushed back. I'm a FF nutter and yet when XIII was repeatedly pushed back did I make a thread? OH NOES my favorite game is delayed !!!11!one
No. I didn't bother the IGN boards with that. Nor did I bother the FF boards. I just went back to playing a top quality RPG and made a mental note to go check what the new supposed release date was.

People that get pissed off at a game because it's delayed just piss me off. Getting pissed off after it's released is fine because you have played it and obviously have found something wrong with it that you don't like. But getting pissed at the game that's just been delayed by a couple of weeks isn't something to be pissed about
Yes, but on the other hand, what if Final Fantasy XIII Came out on the Xbox, for just long enough for all the Xbox owners to play it, and THEN come out on the PS3? Do you know how HARD it is to avoid spoilers? Especially when all my freinds who own Xboxs seem to have an uncanny ability to NEVER SHUT UP.

Of course, lemme just say this theory of MW2 delayed comes from an obscure site. And Amazon still lists the release as November 10. And Infinity Ward wouldn't delay the game for PC because it's where it got it's fucking head in the door.

Well, just because PCs are better than consoles in every way, shape, or form...

One of the main reasons I don't like this forum: there aren't nearly enough of my Master Race brethren.
