Modern Warfare 3: Why does everyone hate it?

I find Call of Duty fun. Can't explain why. I'd probably not have that much fun playing Battlefield because, from what I've heard from just about every person I've asked, it's much more cooperative and team based. I'm fine playing with teams, but I often have more of a long wolf play style.

I buy the new COD every year because it remains "the same". Keep telling yourself it's the exact same thing, the formula itself remains, but there are hardly "no differences between games". I don't even know if I'd still enjoy it if IW/Treyarch decided to change the game into something completely different, which is basically the only thing people seem to be satisfied with.

Call of Duty isn't much of a unique FPS. Just a standard FPS with regenerating health, and fast paced, long wolf style gameplay. It is what it is. You either like it or you don't. People keep saying that COD is the same shit every year, but what even qualifies as "different" in their books anyway? It's never been defined by anyone.

treyarch made the first cod without it there wouldn't of being MW1 MW2 or 3.. plus modern warfare 1 and 2 graphics are peasant like to black ops.. nothing is wrong with black ops.. in MW you get cross map tubes people that think they quickscope but they just press 2 buttons in quick rotation hoping to get a kill while there screen is black

I won't lie, I originally thought Modern Warfare 3 was going to suck shit through a crazy straw from all of the pre-release footage and had put in a solid day of playtime in Battlefield 3's multiplayer before actually playing a friends copy of MW3. I actually enjoyed it enough to pick up a copy myself, it's the same old COD, but after being let down so badly by MW2, I enjoyed playing a good modern warfare game again.

I got my copy severely discounted, and it's fun to just jump on multilayer and mindlessly shoot stuff every now and then. If you don't like it because you want something more complex and interesting, I can see why.

I never expected such a high quality experience, and I like playing barebones (without killstreaks), so it keeps me occupied for an hour or so when I'm bored and don't have much to do, or I'm killing time before class.

When the single player campaign lasts longer than 10 hours I'll consider it. Throw in the fact that Activision is whoring the COD franchise the same way they did Guitar Hero and THPS means they will never get my money.

Although I understand your rage, you just have to accept that CoD and Battlefields make up the absolute lowest elcheon of gaming, just below E.T., the game.

I liked the single player. It was interesting, good setting and wrapped up the whole MW# series.
The multiplayer, I'm not interested in that at all.

I'm not one for enjoying the purchase of a FIFA more than once every 3 years, because it's redundant. And yet I still buy every COD game that comes out, because each have their own personalities and stories, and not a single one has failed to bring something new to the franchise. Anyone that looks at COD and says they can't tell the difference between COD4 and MW3 is just being cynical.

And if it helps, I own Battlefield: Bad Company so I'm far from one of those elitist fanboys you referred to.

Also, I hate it when people think just because you enjoy COD or Battlefield then you're automatically a fanboy and therefore your opinion doesn't count.

Easiest explanation... MW2 great campaign with the betrayal of shepard and all. Multiplayer was good to entertain those for 2 years.

Black ops.. loved the campaign.. but everyone hates the game because it was set in the cold war.. if it was set in WW2 everyone would say "not another WW2 game".. if it was set in modern times everyone would say.. "oh their trying to copy modern warfare"... personally i think black ops is the best COD yet they chose to use a completley and unused setting.. unlike infinity ward who have no imagination i mean just look MW3 isn't MW3 its MW2.5 same guns and perks and most of the assault rifles look the same.. the campaign was retarted.. going to africa was completley pointless in the end those levels were just there it make up time.

whats wrong with black ops other then QS'ing.. but even still people on MW2 and 3 most can't QS they just button bash the zooming in and shooting button and get kills every 7th shot then brag saying AWWW DID ANY ONE SEE MY QUICKSCOPE!! but realy it was always going to happen after that many shots... and don't say black ops has campers coz MW2 has the same amount if not more campers

The reason people hate Modern Warfare 3 is because it's popular, and they think that insulting something that's popular makes them seem edgy and cool in front of the friends that they don't have. The same applies to all popular games that weren't published by Nintendo, but first-person shooters tend to receive the brunt of the internet hipster wrath.

A fine example is with Halo. I am often shunned because I love the Halo franchise (More so than Modern Warfare, which I like but not am heavily attached to.)

I get the usual Bullshit that only little children play it, I haven't seen one kid play Halo: Reach since Call of Duty: Black Ops came out.

Also people only hate it because its outselling their favorite obscure indie game or something along those lines.

Personally I think it's because it's essentially become Madden. A game that's made for people who don't even know what PAX or E3 is that is basically remade every year with minor formula changes. Don't get me wrong I'm assuming it's a great game if the reviews are to be believed, I'm just saying that what it represents is why people hate it. Also maybe because it's totally given the bird to PC gamers by saying "we may not be able to give the PC version elite support." Also I don't think people playing BF3 really care anymore about the whole battlelog thing, since we all needed to go through Steam already. Oh, and Bobby Kotic that bastard.

Blah this game sucks bad. I will start with the Campaign. This game gives CAG better known as DELTA a bad name. The AI is horrible in the campaign, I have operated with CAG in the real world and the AI gives no justice as to portraying movement through buildings, room clearing, hallways, moving down roads, ect. I would say easily that this is the worst game at portraying combat maneuver, Rainbow six did a hell of a better job. I love how in the campaign you will be left in a room full of bad guys that are flanking you and coming around your six while your "AI" counterparts just sit there and let them eat you up. Moving on to the multiplayer, the multiplayer offers an array of weapon systems too bad that for the most part they all do about the same amount of damage. The MP5 kills just as fast as the 6.8 spc laughable. The hit marks are way off as far as getting hit goes and then dying. A lot of the times i get one shotted then watch the replay and see that I got shot several times and then died, I am assuming this is due to the nerds hacking but not sure. Not my internet I have high-speed so it must be hacks, servers should do a better job for keeping hackers OUT! Sniper gameplay is as always horrible in and throughout the COD series. Maps are too small for sniping imo and sniping in general is too difficult. In the REAL WORLD it is not that damn hard when setup in a hide to hold the cross hairs on a target, but in this game no matter if your in the standing or in the prone the cross hairs are all over the damn place. The hardest part of sniping in the Real world is judging wind, if I looked through my scope like they portray a sniper does in the game it would be impossible for me to get a mil dot readout for UKD determination. To change this all they would have to do is make the scope steady when your guy is in the prone, standing it is going to be hard to hold and in RL you will have to do some sort of figure 8 but in the prone it should have been steady not figure 8 all over the place..... Oh and quick-scope or whatever the "kids" are calling it now days is retarded, I have yet to meet a sniper that can run around with a long gun, then stop on a dime, acquire a target with a high-powered scope in less than .5 seconds and shoot to kill total BS. Depending on range and shot placement in most situations It does not take over 1 shot to totally incapacitate and kill someone with anything over a .308, 7.62x54(dragunov) and definitely not a .50 caliber, it is ridiculous and very frustrating when you shoot another player with a .50 and they just are able to run away, never would happen. Lets not forget the nerds who play all the time that can take out a sniper from across the board with just iron sights and short burst from an m4, very funny. Yes just like all the others this game sucks a big one. I know its just a game but maybe if they would just for once get some input from real guys on the ground as opposed to just doing whatever they would have made a better game/franchise. Im not saying make it so realistic that its boring I am just saying make the game a little more on par with facts and history, as far as the combat goes.

I hate MW3 fanboys and the community most of all; that and I've never liked any COD game, ever. I can't really say if it truly is a copy paste being that I've never played MW2 or Black ops (I only ever played MW1 with a friend) so if it is then that's pathetic but if it's noticeably really different then that's good. But hey, it can't be a coincidence that so many are complaining about it being a copy paste (expensive MW2 DLC, MW2.5, etc). So I'm thinking that maybe there might be a bit of copy paste but don't know for sure and I truly don't care to know because COD does not interest me, nor does BF3 before you label me as a BF3 fanboy. I don't give a rat's ass about FPS mp games and really think that these millions of people who bought MW3 should really not limited themselves to such a lackluster game.
