Forewarning: This is not a Hate agaisn't ethier of these games, just a common trend I noticed.

Ok, I believe the Modern Warfare series to be doing exactly what Halo did. Halo: Combat Evolved by many standards was an excellent game, it had a strong story, good gameplay, and a fairly decent online. The same could be said about the frist Modern Warefare. From this point, this gets a little odd.

The 2nd Halo was not as good, it took away one beloved feature (health packs) its story seemed lacking, the gameplay didn't change much at all, thus making it boring. However, the multiplayer was made better, if only mildly.

Modern Warfare 2 story seemed to pale in comparison to the frist, the campaign was extremely short and bland. However, the multiplayer had many aspects that were improved upon, aside from the dedicated servers fiasco, and it was an overall better experience.

Anyone else notice the similarites? I mean even the major selling points of the two games were the new dual weild feature. Not that thats a bad addition, it just seems too similar to the point it seems the games are coping one another. Could it be by the time Modern Warfare 3 comes out, only the hardcore fans will enjoy and the rest will hate it? I have no clue.

So my question to you is this: Is the Modern Warfare series traveling down Halo's road?

They're both massively popular shooters and they both suck.

That's all I've noticed, but good point.

I see what you mean. I noticed that it's getting popular to hate Modern Warfare 2.
And it's not even a bad game.

Not to nitpick, but the original Halo didn't have any online...

Other than that, I'd say you might have a point.

I'm fairly certain the PC version did, I'm aware that the Xbox port didn't but I'm sure that the PC had a Lan if not full internet multiplayer.

Uhhh...did you play the PC version? It had full online. And the person who was hosting the server got zero ping and lagless sniping
Anyway, yeah....they both suck, and are a disgrace to shooters...

I've noticed a lot of hate on Modern Warfare 2 too, and most of it is either people who have the game with completely invalid points or people who don't have the game.

And yet they're both good games, they're not perfect but I don't see any games beating them at their own game.

People are quick to jump on the bandwagon of hating a popular thing. It's alright if you don't like a game, just don't play it.

On topic though, the trend is very similar of a lot of different titles. One could also pull Gears of War into the mix for worse singleplayer and slightly better multi.

I didn't because it seemed like the Gears franchise had an overall improvement with its sequel, whereas the Modern Warfare series and Halo franchise didn't.

One thing i noticed, was melee attacking. The enemies in MW2 were melee fanatics. I swear i got killed more time by melee attacks, than by being shot.

I don't think so.
In fact, I don't think that Halo went any specific way.
But Modern Warfare 2's campaign was the best 6 hours of my videogaming life so... nope.

I never said Halo sucked, frankly, I enjoyed it more than Modren Warfare, however, a good FPS experience for the 360 would be the L4D series, Team Fortess 2(kinda)*, and if you enjoy single player the Half Life series. I know that sounds very Valve fanboyish, but those are actually good games by a lot of standards.

*I say kinda, because the PC version was much better, and it makes the 360 version seem less so.
