Yes, I can see the trend but I certainly hope that Infinity Ward will attempt to avoid the Halo syndrome. I am too a huge fan of Halo 1 but felt a bit jipped with the ones that followed. They got rid of the sweet pistol for starters!
I did enjoy Halo: ODST though... it was refreshing playing as a different character. That is one thing that MW has going for it. It can introduce and remove characters at will and not locked into a specific role. I just hope the next one has a longer yet more believable campaign.
I have to do a shout out for Borderlands, however. That game weened me off of MW2 multiplayer. It provided hours and hours of great gameplay and offers replay-ability in my opinion.
