I've never really played any Molyneux games interestingly enough. I borrowed them from friends and always handed them back feeling bored and unfulfilled (and unfinished), so I have to say he's right. They were good games, especially the Fable series, but there was absolutely nothing about them that made me keep playing. If I had to define them I would probably place them alongside Uncharted. They are almost completely by the books, with very few things I was able to find that made them special.
Even games I label as bad, like PROTOTYPE, had something (in that case the ability to hurl oneself hundreds of feet into space off the Empire State Building and remain unharmed) that made them at least passable enjoyment. Fable might very well get better later, as I've heard a lot of people claim, but if I never wanted to play it enough to get to 'later' then it's never going to make it into my 'favourite games' list.
