This is the guy that made Syndicate and Dungeon Keeper as well as Populous, right?

He must be using a different definition of 'great game' than me.

Molyneux: "I've never made a great game."

SimuLord: "I'll say."

In terms of influence-to-merit ratio, Molyneux's not on political-pundit level, but he's still unacceptably high.

The first Black and White was a great game. Other than that I agree.
All his games are about 5 degrees off from being truly excellent.

Black and White was missing SO little to make it a truly remarkable title.

man, black & white is definitely in my top 5
and maybe black and white 2 would be in my top 15 if it didnt stutter unbearably on my computer.

The only flaw in Fable 2 was the lack of your dog being a Huskie. That would have been adorable.

I don't care what anyone says: I love Peter Molyneux.
He's the most enthusiastic game developer/designer/idea-man I've seen in the industry. Ever.
He tries new things, he puts his ideas to the test, he's his own worst critic, and he's willing to admit when he screws something up. Seriously, even if he over-promises on some aspects of his games: The guy has a real heart for the industry, and a real passion to keep things moving.

Hang in there, Pete!
Thumbs up my friend.

Words of wisdom...
Except a game selling 5M copies doesn't make it a masterpiece and isn't by itself enough to satisfy any creator looking for anything other than money. If he speaks the truth, then he should be happy creating a masterful game that sells like shit.
Part of me feels like he's playing us....and we're falling for it. Why don't more developers learn to take a humble approach to their remarks?

This is why I want to be just like Mr. Molyneux when I grow up. I already don't like everything I've made so far, so maybe I'll actually be like him some day.

Yep. I wasted some serious time on Syndicate.
And I loved me some Dungeon Keeper.

I enjoy that, like Will Wright, he tries to take games into new places. It may not always work, but he's not rehashing FPS#42 or RTS #51. I may not always lke what he puts out, but I do appreciate it.

I still love you Pete *hives a hug*
This is the right thing to say(finally); it's realistic and you're not underselling you(nor overselling like every time) + you came out as a good guy(kind of a dweeb but a lovable one non the less).

Kotick, you should really learn from my pall Pete here. Admit your greediness and stupidity you @#$&^$^%$!

anc[is]Huh, interesting coming from him. Not to put the guy down or anything, but I kinda agree with him. The Fables weren't bad, just not so good. And the only other game I can remember at the moment, Black and White 2, just did so many things wrong despite it's huge potential. When Peter's games actually ARE what he says they'll be, that will be a grand day indeed.
.......ARE YOU PETER MOLYNEUX!?!?!?!

Okay I kid, personally I like him. I haven't played a lot of his games, but as a person he seems pretty cool (Y)

Well Peter, admitting it is the first step, Resigning and going far far away is the last.
Unless your plans to buy out the Dungeon keeper license werent just rumours in which case come here and crack open this crate of beer with me, for we are going to be life long friends.

Christ, Peter Molyneux didn't hype Fable 3 and he's still getting stick from people about having ego.

I live in Guildford (where Lionhead studios is) and met Peter, he's a great guy, and cares about the consumer.
