I thought that one was funny.
My friend has had some stupid gamertags though, such as putting his first, middle, and last name. after he changed it, the next three he had had the word POOPIES in it. =/

People who've managed to get the button icons into their names.
I hate them with a passaion [sub] but thats uaually because they're the dicks who've modded their MW2 to get a full auto FAL/M21 and got fall camo for everything...dicks [/sub]
Some are pretty funny (and its hilarious when guys take the piss out of them)
Press 'A' for 'A'nal. Funny. I recall he was teabagged a lot in the few games he showed up for.
Worst I've seen was 2 guys - who had the 'Left trigger'-'right trigger' icons and the 'leftstick'-'rightstick' icons. Whats annoying? That they'd repeated it 40 times. I am not joking here, everytime they got a kill, or were killed, their names took up the entire fekking screen
And then theres the 'Pro_Snipazlee7imatwatwithnofriendslul' guys. Its always fun to take them on. As they are as far away from being a 'pro' sniper as one can get.
I'm Huberticus - its one of my (nicer) nicknames at school. Its great to listen to little kids playing on CoD to try and pronounce it.

I would say my XBL username is pretty absurd, afriendlyteamp. It came about from something my friend said so it has some meaning somewhere. I wanted to keep using my old XBL username, baggyn (the one i use for pretty much everything). But i got it banned when i chipped my original xbox.

Two of my friends have called themselves MyBanjoString and HisBanjoString, purely for games like halo where it comes up "MyBanjoString assassinated HisBanjoString"
I lol'ed at first but now I just accept it.
On a related note, I don't like my Gamertag but all the ones I want have already been taken and I'll be damned if I have to put numbers and Xs in there.

The best one I saw was in a match of Halo 3, where the player's name was 'Speeding Metal', so it ended up like:
'You were splattered by Speeding Metal'

The WORST, however, goes to a player on MW2, with this 'gem' of a name:

My old roommate's account used to be MeatHaxzorz... as a joke, obviously. For some reason I still really enjoy the absurdity of that name.
I don't have to deal with sounding like a tosser like all of you. I use REAL (Well, not REALLY real person's names. I don't think...) names. Well, most of them sound rather insane (I.E. Maeko Saruwatari) but they all work well. Claus Maercken, Allen Shepard, Kitori Yretzu. I NEVER have to deal with something being used. Ever. And with that said you will likely steal my names. (Wankers.) Playing a Japanese female assassin? Ivira Yretzu. Playing a soldier in modern warfare? Cpl. Shepard. Easy. I have no need for idiocy with names that include "elite, Über, sniper" and other such things. Plus, my names are NEVER taken. Ever. In fact, I make ALL of my own names. Either a combination of two names from completely different sources, or both made from scratch. Usually awesome sounding first and second names from a generator for the type of character I want. Hell, sometimes I rip names out of text and sound generated by random text made by hammering on the ol' keyboard.

One time on MW2 on FFA. There was a booster with a name that was something like: xXB1G M1S74KEXx
Everyone that had a mic was pissing on that guy. "So you're a big mistake by your parents then?". It was pretty damn funny. Unfortunately, although the guy did have a mic, we were not able to see his reaction. I assumed he was using party chat.
