Nuts and Bolts. It was just disgusting. What it was, was a neat vehicle based creativity toy. It was in no way, shape, or form a Banjo platformer like it was marketed.

My most disappointing sequel? the Xbox One.

I'm surprised no one has said this yet.
If were gonna do other things and not games then...

Mortal Kombat Annihilation the movie.

It just was awful. The first movie was surprisingly awesome, I still love it, but the second just has no redeeming qualities. They killed Johnny Cage within the first 5 mins for god sakes.

I mean the first had the best fitting actors it just blows my mind. Whoever played Shang should have gotten an oscar.

Eww I just remembered Sonya, she was an awful actress, haha.

Resistance 3

After Resistance 2, I swore at the television for a full half-hour for the gnarly cliff hanger it gave me.
I pre-ordered #3 the second I had the chance. I was excited out of my mind when I got it. I played it clean through to the end in less than a weekend. I hated it. Some of the game was genuinely exciting, but it failed to answer a plethora of questions, while raising a many others. It was horrible. I regret buying it now.

Hard to look beyond Modern Warfare 2. The first sign that COD had turned into an insipid money-printing franchise.

F3AR, or FThreear. I loved the atmosphere and gameplay of the first game, the second improved the gameplay and sacrificed a little of the tone, but overall I still liked it, and even the Reborn expansion. F3AR I buy brand new at full price, my first game to pay that much in awhile, and while it was a decent FPS, I was emotionally destroyed at how it was atmospherically. I enjoyed how the story tried to be more in depth, and I enjoyed the cutscenes, but part of the appeal of the original game was witnessing the events and listening to them on the answering machines.

OP.........why did you have to remind me of Perfect Dark Zero?

Other than that, Metal Gear Solid 4, I can go on for hours on how that game failed to deliver.

KotOR II- The Sith Lords. I'm not saying it was a bad game- but I did feel very disappointed by it. You hit a certain point, and how much was left out becomes... painfully obvious. It had great potential, and I loved the first game, but the second one felt as rushed as it was- especially after I was starting to be drawn in, only to have all immersion in the world and stories pretty broken.
I can agree with this. I still have fond memories of it, but man that game was rushed to hell and back, it was the first time I saw how bad publishers can screw things up.

Considering FFX-2 was the game that got me into the series and I liked it (I didn't know any better) even though everyone said it sucked, FFXIII (and it's sequels by association) is what disappointed me. I lasted a whole seven hours and then I forgot why I even wanted it for Christmas. Extra saddened because it was my present to me.

Metroid: Other M has been mentioned, but I must mention it again. It's a trainwreck from start to finish. Take everything that made Super Metroid or Metroid Prime a wonderful experience and reverse it, and you've got Other M. All the subtle environmental storytelling becomes mawkish melodrama. All the mysterious exploration becomes glorified janitorial work in a hallway. All the memorable area tunes become mediocre ambience. All the smooth gameplay is replaced with awkward workarounds and solutions. All the silent and powerful mystique of Samus Aran is washed away and filled in with an obnoxious double. All respect for the player is just gone. I have never seen a game with less respect for me than Other M. When Adam Malkovich won't even allow me to visit the final area of the game, I feel Sakamoto thinks I'm as weak and helpless as his version of Samus.

Endless Ocean 2
I loved Endless Ocean for its exploration and relaxation. It was a game that have stuff for you to do and few limits. Heck, you tended to have so much air in your tank that you could explore an area 10 times over before getting half way through it. I use to turn on some of game's music and just listen to it because I loved it. Everything was done at your own pace and you never really felt pressured to do anything. Not to mention, I love the educational stuff about the marine life.
Endless Ocean 2 changed all that. Some things that were optional in the first game became mandatory in the second one. Exploration felt more linear and they added an element where animals could attack you and you had to taser them to calm them down. Since the calming time was short, you spent most of the time trying to "avoid the baddies" rather than explore and discover things. They also put limits on your air. As you played through, you unlocked larger tanks, but even the maxed tank couldn't compare to the air tank in the first one. On it's own, the game is ok and plays like one would expect from a game like that, but it removed the laid back elements of the first one that I liked. Some of the environments were nice, but my air tank tended to be too small for me to explore it like I wanted. I can't remember if I played until the end or not. I did continuously pop back into the first one to play in the aquarium, explore the abyss (which is my favorite) and listen to the music.

There are quite few sequels which disappointed me a bit although I generally knew that they were not going to be that good, but the one that totally crushed me was C&C 4, I had such hopes for it but it just did not have any redeeming features.
Wait since when there is C&C4? EA just released RA3.
[takes half a bottle of happy denial pills]
I'm pretty sure C&C4 haven't been even announced yet.

Amen to that mate, taking a beloved franchise for base building and tank spamming, then remove bases and give a ridiculously low build cap. They could have only made it worse by making it a FPS :-/ Utter idiots.

Anyone else noticing the high number of EA games in here? Says something doesn't it.
You know, Renegade2 might work, if developers makes gameplay somewhat similar to Battlezone...

There was a Renegade 2 on the works by Westwood it was in Red universe and set post Red 2 in some big US city, there were even some levels done, but EA killed it. Also there was Tiberium which if I'm not mistaken was supposed to be after Tib wars, which EA also killed.

Destroy All Humans! 2 wasn't so good... but then again the first game wasn't so good either... I guess I was waiting for the series to take off and it never did. And while we're talking Pandemic Studios, Mercenaries 2 sucked BALLS.
Maaaaaaaan, what was so bad about DAH!2? DAH!1 I can understand not everyone liking due to some wonky physics and the holobob being overpowered, but 2?!? TWO?!? The disclocator NEVER gets old! Best idea for a weapon I've ever seen.

Mass Effect 3: I loved ME2 to bits and had very high expectations for ME3, but it just had to many flaws (auto dialog, drive by quests, making cerberus the main villain) and then the ending mess happened. Additionally the game failed to tie the trilogy together for me.

Gothic 3: The game was just broken and disappointed me so hard after the awesome and super immersive Gothic 1+2

Dragon Age 2 just took a major step back from its predecessor in every conceivable way.

I wanted a top down strategic RPG with deep combat. They gave us the awesome button.
I need to clarify that I'm not denying any other point you made, the game was not at all what Dragon Age should be.
That said I think the combat is more tactical and far more difficult than both Origins and Awakening. The only difference being that you had to play it on Nightmare from square one because the other difficulties removed vital features like Force and Friendly Fire. Then again I did decide not to exploit Avaline nor healers so that may have added another layer of depth to surviving.
You are right that the combat needs quite a bit of tactic (right skills on your chars, using CCC's etc.) and at times even seems slightly harder that Origins, but its just so ridiculously unbalanced (Assassin's, damage beats everything, Arishok duel) that I can't call it good.
Out of curiosity whats the "Aveline exploit"? And how do you exploit Healers? I found all the Healing spells utterly useless with their insanely long cooldowns compared to how fast damage is dealt in that game.

Blacksite: Area 51

Ok, they say it wasn't a sequel but it was so buggy and shite that it killed any chance of a proper Area 51 sequel.

And to think I was so pumped for that game prior to release.

X-2 wasn't so bad*, I just feel like they went a little too far down the girly route, it didn't make much sense to me because you cut that out and it's a solid FF game yet they decided to alienate a portion of their audience in a misguided attempt to win over young girls.

[small]* It wasn't as good as previous FF titles though and I feel like it was the turning point for the series.[/small]

Mafia 2.

It wasn't a bad game, but it was a terrible sequel. And you could see how much content was cut from a mile away. It was so obvious. They had all that time and it still felt like a rushed job. And the saddest part is that while you're playing it you can feel all the missed potential. It was heartbreaking.

Some guy got warned for saying "red alert 3", what in the world?
Yep. I actually did a gameplay survey for RA3 about 3 months before it came out. I ripped it a new one so much that I ended up talking to one of the EA reps after the survey for about 20min. Out of the 25 people in the room who played about 10min of game play only myself and 2 other guys were what they called Hardcore RTS players. All 3 of us were brutal in our responses and attitude toward the game. So after all the newbies and novices left they came around from the one way glass and we all talked about what we disliked and the few things we liked. When the game came out I wasn't touching it until I saw reviews and determined if they fixed anything, they did but really minute things. So I got $100 out of it and saved the money I would have spent on it because I had been looking forward to it.
