That's the thing. If you don't expect too much of something, especially Duke, then there is very little bitching and complaints. But there's always those people that expect the world and throw a ***** fit when their perfect vision isn't met EXACTLY.irani_che said:at this point
I do not know how Duke Nukem can possible impress its fans enough to justify the 10 year delay. I mean, nothing short of this game elevating games to a recognized artistic medium, its writers earning noble prizes in literature, while it still is as violent and agressive and non-cover based shooter as possible, all the while keeping true to the previous installments.
It will still be good, but it will inevitably fall short
The sonic fanbase is also has one of the worst broken bases [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BrokenBase] So they jjust can't be pleased as one side will praise any game, and another will trash it saying it isn't what they wanted. Not G. This is a good example of what I'm talking about, except the sonic adventure 2 part. I liked that game.ServebotFrank said:Sonic the Hedgehog is a great example of a terrible fanbase.
"We want a Sonic game about SPEED!"
Sonic Unleashed comes out.
"No we want a CLASSIC Sonic game!"
Sonic 4 comes out.
"No! Sonic isn't supposed to have GREEN EYES! WHY ARE THEY USING THE MODERN DESIGN!?! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
"WE WANT NEW VOICE ACTORS!!!"
Sonic Colors comes out with professional voice actors who've been in the business for years. Some for decades.
"NO WE HATE THEM!!! BRING BACK THE OLDER CAST!!! I'M LEAVING THE FANBASE FOR FIVE MINUTES! BE BACK IN A FEW!!!"
The sad thing is that SEGA is really trying to please the fans but they are never satisfied with anything they say. My interest in Sonic declined with Sonic Adventure 2 where I returned it to the store and said to the clerk, "Sorry I asked for Sonic Adventure 2 I got 'Tail's and Knuckles' Stupid Adventure" Sorry I just really am annoyed with that fanbase. Search up that video on Youtube where they show off the new voice cast and half the comments are people complaining about it.
Agreed, except for the fact that if it is exactly like the predecessor, they'll complain it's too similar and just a cash-in.Daystar Clarion said:Any fanboy of any fan base. Ever.
A lot of fans are self entitled, whiney bitches, and are only ever satisfied if a sequal ends up being exactly like it's predecessor. Just looks at the whole DA2 mess.
The game is more streamlined.
"Nuhuh! It's dumbed down for the console tards!"
Character archetypes are not as important, so it's not as necessary to always have a 2 mage 1 tank set up, the same level of tactics is still required at higher levels.
"Nuhuh! It's just easier!"
The dialogue wheel streamlines conversation, making a more fun engaging conversation system.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAH! DRAGON EFFECT 2! WAAAAAAAAH!"
I could do this all day...
It's been my experience that most of the bitching to be found for a Pokemon game actually comes from the people who don't actually play the games to begin with.arc1991 said:Pokemon...many people are not happy with the current gen, i personally love it.
COD is another one...but to be fair it is the Devs fault... (looks over at Activision with an evil look)
Heh, touche. I was mostly referring to sonic 06 and unleashed though, which is the ones most people complain about and completely deserve it. Ironically enough I'm the one who hasn't played 4 ep 1 or colours.drbarno said:As a matter of fact I have, both Sonic 4 episode 1 and Sonic colours, both seem like perfectly fine games to me.Epilepsy said:To be fair, have you PLAYED a sonic game lately?drbarno said:the sonic fanbase, they complain about everything that happens in the games,
Which is pretty pointless seeing as how you can just download a mod to fix whatever you don't like.Hyper-space said:The Elder Scrolls fanbase have had a history of begging for something (in case of Morrowind, unique hand-made content), have it delivered, only to complain that its not the same as the previous game which they complained about.
After Morrowind, everyone wanted a "not-broken-as-fuck" combat system and a magic system that actually worked, plus UI that didn't suck stilt. In oblivion, they delivered on that, giving a game that was actually playable, BUT OH NO! its no longer Morrowind! its no longer broken as fuuuuuck and has a decent combat system!
The same thing will probably happen when Skyrim gets here, people will ***** and moan, just as always.
EDIT:
I think thou hast not read All-Star Superman vol. 1 and 2 (by Grant Morrison) or For the Man who has it All (by Alan Moore).Johnny Impact said:Superman has no faults, consequently he's uninteresting.
Hey, can I say something for being a player of Duke Nukem games? I really don't care about the wait. It's not something that I've been waking up every morning to see if it's ready yet or not. There isn't a statute of limitations here. When it comes, I'll buy it. Until then, I've got a whole mess of things to kill in some other game.irani_che said:at this point

I'd say he's the easiest to figure out in that respect. The conundrum, if one existed for the character, is if he is still relevant in today's world. The Youth Counselor said:Superman fans are impossible to please. Exactly, yet people do not give Bethesda credit for making the proper tools to fix whatever they might find wrong with the game.CD-R said:Which is pretty pointless seeing as how you can just download a mod to fix whatever you don't like.Hyper-space said:The Elder Scrolls fanbase have had a history of begging for something (in case of Morrowind, unique hand-made content), have it delivered, only to complain that its not the same as the previous game which they complained about.

Yea, those two are usually regarded as worse off, but the main reasoned I haven't played those( at least not properly, I tried '06 at a friends house once when it was new, played sonic's story up to unlocking silver, then played a bit of silver's story) Was that I never had a console to play '06 at the time of release, and just couldn't be bothered to play unleashed.Epilepsy said:Heh, touche. (I actually like '06 though, despite all it's faults, but i'm just weird)
