Use of Weapons.

It's a little-known SF novel by Iain Banks, and if I had to make a list of my favourite novels of all time, it would probably be on it. I literally had to put the book down and take a few minutes to recover after the final twist. It completely blew me away.
also the wasp factory made me fucking brick myself, had too reread it for it to all make sense, the plot twist came a little late

Fight Club of course.
No doubt that blew my mind when him and Tyler were the same guy, and amazingly enough they managed to make it all make sense and be somewhat believable.

Rather than repeat most of the awesome twists mentioned here already I'll just say how shocked I am that no one's mentioned Braid yet. After that game was over I just stared at the screen in disbelief for like 5 minutes.

Also this thread needs more Lost... Every season finale is a killer and every other episode has some brilliant twist or another.

EDIT: Although this is a little unorthadox. Any one listened to A Grand don't come for Free by The Streets? It's not so much a plot twist but the delivery and the final song Empty Cans has a brilliant relevatory effect.

Well, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni/ Hihigurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai.
You need to watch all of it so it makes sense.
But you don't really expect it to be that way, when you do find out what was happening.
I don't want to type what happens, I'd rather get people interested by posting something cryptic, so they go and get addicted to the anime. :D
I only watched the 1st season. And that still made no fucking sense. Will EVERYTHING be explained in the 2nd?

It would of been The Usual Suspects if I didn't watch Celebrity Big Brother by accident.... god I hate BB... still it did get me thinking.
The twist in Fight Club and Sixth Sense were awesome

Bioshock, best twist in a game I have ever seen.
Movie-wise goes to sixth sense, easily.
This, right here. Never saw either of those coming. Also, this one completely blew my mind in Final Fantasy 7:

Cloud is an altered clone of Sephiroth, and all of Tifa's memories of her and Cloud growing up together were planted in her head by Jenova.

However, the impact of that twist was sort of ruined by this:

Cloud is not an altered clone of Sephiroth, but he believed in the back of his mind that he was the same rank as Sephiroth in SOLDIER. In reality, he was always at the bottom. Sephiroth lied about Cloud being his clone. However, Sephiroth was still able to control Cloud because they both contained Jenova's cells.

I think it would have been better if they had just kept the first twist without the second one. Oh well, FF7 was still a good game. Not the best in the world, but I still love it.

The basic answers from here too. Fight Club, Blade Runner, [b\]12 monkeys[/b], Usual suspects etc.
Yes. Twelve monkeys was so convoluted to me. The aspects of time travel, the realms of human insanity, the threat to the world as we know it, and only ONE man can fix everything? And he happens to be the cause of his own childhood trauma?

AND BRAD PITT RELEASES A BUNCH OF ZOO-ANIMALS!?

WHAT THE FUCK!?

Honestly, the most bizarre, yet good, movies i've ever seen. Great twist.
(And I am another person who saw the twist to Sixth Sense coming. It came mostly from Bruce Willis' character's interaction with the main character... who could see ghosts... okay, yeah, it was a hunch at first. But it was a good enough hunch that I wasn't very surprised by Bruce Willis being dead.)

The ending of Dexter season 4, also the ending of the first SAW-movie, at least I thought it was a little mindblowing.

Can't come up with more plot-twists right now o_O

I completely agree, most original surprising book I've ever read, I still get shocked by the ending when I re-read it. It's definitely in my all time top ten books. Try reading other ones by him like 'Against a dark background' or 'the player of games' or 'state of the art' all have pretty awesome twists (though not quite as good as use of weapons)

Always good to meet other Banks fans. I thought The Player of Games was good, but I still think Consider Phlebas was better, even if the story was more predictable. My favourite's still Use of Weapons, though. Which one's your favourite?

It's his best apart from Use of Weapons, in my opinion. It starts off a little slow, but it gets absolutely fantastic later on. How much of it have you read?
