also the wasp factory made me fucking brick myself, had too reread it for it to all make sense, the plot twist came a little lateAnachronism said:Use of Weapons.
It's a little-known SF novel by Iain Banks, and if I had to make a list of my favourite novels of all time, it would probably be on it. I literally had to put the book down and take a few minutes to recover after the final twist. It completely blew me away.
No doubt that blew my mind when him and Tyler were the same guy, and amazingly enough they managed to make it all make sense and be somewhat believable.Icy Lemon said:Fight Club of course.
I only watched the 1st season. And that still made no fucking sense. Will EVERYTHING be explained in the 2nd?Greyfox105 said:Well, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni/ Hihigurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai.
You need to watch all of it so it makes sense.
But you don't really expect it to be that way, when you do find out what was happening.
I don't want to type what happens, I'd rather get people interested by posting something cryptic, so they go and get addicted to the anime.![]()
This. Bioshock's writing is slick as hell.Larmo said:Would you Kindly ......
This, right here. Never saw either of those coming. Also, this one completely blew my mind in Final Fantasy 7:Normalgamer said:Bioshock, best twist in a game I have ever seen.
Movie-wise goes to sixth sense, easily.
Yes. Twelve monkeys was so convoluted to me. The aspects of time travel, the realms of human insanity, the threat to the world as we know it, and only ONE man can fix everything? And he happens to be the cause of his own childhood trauma?Wainamoinen said:The basic answers from here too. Fight Club, Blade Runner, [b\]12 monkeys[/b], Usual suspects etc.

Try reading other ones by him like 'Against a dark background' or 'the player of games' or 'state of the art' all have pretty awesome twists (though not quite as good as use of weapons)
Always good to meet other Banks fans. I thought The Player of Games was good, but I still think Consider Phlebas was better, even if the story was more predictable. My favourite's still Use of Weapons, though. Which one's your favourite?Chairehead said:also the wasp factory made me fucking brick myself, had too reread it for it to all make sense, the plot twist came a little late
Wait, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, I was only aware of the 1st oneGreyfox105 said:Well, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni/ Hihigurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai.

am currently in the process of reading consider phlebas, so dont ruin it for me, but so far its looking interesting. very baroque quality to both, despite being set in space :SAnachronism said:Aerosmith250 said:I completely agree, most original surprising book I've ever read, I still get shocked by the ending when I re-read it. It's his best apart from Use of Weapons, in my opinion. It starts off a little slow, but it gets absolutely fantastic later on. How much of it have you read?Chairehead said:am currently in the process of reading consider phlebas, so dont ruin it for me, but so far its looking interesting. very baroque quality to both, despite being set in space :S
