I have to say my Morrowind character, as egotistical as that may be. Completely untouchable. Near immune to attacks with normal weapons and half the spells reflect back at enemies. Never gets fatigued and health regenerates due to my special enchanted Daedric armor.

kaim from lost odyessy
he's immortal, can learn other peoples moves, can make effects from items permenent(sp) and is just a bad ass.
kratos cralws outta hell? big deal
Kaim take a giant meteor to the face, a meteor that completetly levels the entire area for miles and wipes out entire armies, and what does kaim do? he stands right back up. sure, kratos would get hit by the meteor, go to hell, than break out, but all kaim has to do is stand up.
thats exactly what makes kratos that much more bad ass. he is mortal. anything that kills him will only make him angry (well angrier).

The King of the Cosmos, from Katamari Damaci. He's manly enough to wear brigh vibrant colours. Oh, and there's the whole "King of the Comsos!" thing.

oh, and if that's not enough proof...

Heh, he has an ass-beard, and yet he still rocks it!

This is a good point...

Toad... No could you imagine.

Anyways I think i'm going to go with Fawks from Fallout. He's pretty beastly. I'd probably go with Alex Mercer but seeing as I suck at the game and every single boss fight kills me like 50 times. That takes away from my image of him being powerful.

Arcueid. Gaia's own Counter Force and vampire hunter. Can recreate any natural effect, current host to the ultimate being of the moon, recovered from being killed in the second most permanent way possible by literally recreating her own concept from scratch, and is often completely immune to death.

Thisssssssss!!!
fun game BTW. A fighting game that you won't win with button mashing against anyone that understands what EX shielding is.
True, I hadn't considered that she's technically recovered to full strength by the time Melty Blood takes place. She's drastically weakened for most of Tsukihime (except for one time when she snaps during Ciel's route).

And really, that describes a lot of fighting games with parrying techniques. Button mashers don't do too well against guard-impacts in Soul Calibur, low parries in Tekken, or reflect guards in Fate/Unlimited Codes. Not that I'm disagreeing with you in saying Melty Blood is awesome, mind you.

Has Dr. Manhattan been in a game yet? When he is (he will be, the movie pretty much guarenteed that) it is him. Your character may exist, but he can prevent him/her from ever existing. You know, if he feels like it.
I disagree, plus he can't do that.

Overpowered video game characters are no fun :(

Cyric.

Really, he was in Baldurs Gate 2: The throne of Bhaal, so I call one of the greater Gods of evil from D&D.

His only real competition is Kratos, who kills Gods but I believe Cyric would win and here is why.

1) Kratos fights straight-forward, balls-to-the-wall kinds of Gods whereas cyric would use his portfolio in deception to trick Kratos into losing his virtual godhead(Cyrics does it to other gods).

2) Cyric also murders his fellow deities.

Wow, I'm really surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but...

How about Jean-Gray? Dark Phoenix is one of the most powerful characters to ever exist in the Marvel Universe, with the exception of perhaps the Gods and the Celestials (Which haven't been depicted as characters you can play yet, which the exception of Thor). Sure, Murcer can't die... but every time he comes back, Jean-Gray would just make him impload. Or, when she got tired of him, she'd just throw him into the Sun, or even out into the depths of the universe. Murcer isn't ever going to recover from that.

Take into account that while she is Dark Pheonix she can make Hulk, who punched his way through TIME at one point, into little more than an inconvenience. The way she was beaten in the movie is exceedingly inaccurate, for anyone who is going to cite that. Logan doesn't actually heal -that- quickly.

The absurdity of Kratos's power to be so bent on revenge that he kills gods and breaks the flow of time itself is more than a little ridiculous.

Kain managed to destroy the land and his enemies several times over in the Legacy of Kain series. That's got to count for something.

What about Sin from Final Fantasy X. Your party went to extreme lengths to actually kill him.

Glad to see someone else thought of ole Jeanie. Another runner from the Marvel games I'd like to throw out is Wanda Maximoff the Scarlet Witch. She controls probability hence she controls everything. Although the extent to which she can varies depending on the writer. I'd also throw out Proteus but I don't think he's been in any games.

Well why don't we define it in real game terms, which game has a character which is so overpowered that it actually breaks the gameplay balance and makes it too easy to spite how ostensibly hard the enemies might be.

Sorry if this sounds like a Clue/Cluedo question but I say it was Sev with the Knife in Killzone 2 killing the Helghast.

Now the gameplay has warmed on me over time but the fact remains the knife is incredibly overpowered with it's one it kill and wide zone of attack (Wide killzone maybe?), unlike the chainsaw in Gears the attack cannot be interrupted by being shot, it is an instantaneous kill (no long animation), it can be performed from quite obtuse angles and combined with the sprint and the generous rebounding health system even on higher difficulties this one guy can make short work of dozens of crack Helghan troops at a time.

But to be fair, it doesn't break the gameplay, the game is still fun but once you discover the power of the knife you'll never want to use the rifle again.

Funniest thing is to run up to an APC as the armoured doors are opening and just one-stab-kill each of them as they bundle out of the vehicle, kills them all quicker and surere than any grenade.

Perhaps not the most directly powerful character in gaming, but Durandal is certainly one of the most persistent, ambitious, and manipulative characters ever. Ultimately he is immortal, possesses the most advanced technology in the galaxy, and really only fears the inevitable closure of the universe, which is the basis for the story of Marathon.

I think Halo is a pretty cool guy,
I'm sorry, I have to respond to that, with a:

*Facepalm.*

Halo is the title of the game, and also the name of the ringworlds constructed by the forerunners. "Halo", as you refer to him, is actually named John, A.K.A. Spartan 117, A.K.A. Master Chief.

Sorry, just, thought you'd know his real name. It's a fairly common mistake.

OT:

I'm going with "OneBig Man" said. Anyone in an exoskeleton suit who flies a bomb through space and single-handedly destroys a freakin' huge starship is pretty B.A. if you ask me.

Hahaha that is awesome. Totally trolled.
