That looks completely retarded. I am baffled. Why do people make movies like this in this day and age?

Wait, was that the same song that was used in The Avengers trailer?

They are remaking Red Dawn, a movie that I believe Homefront was heavily inspired by.

The premise of the original Red Dawn was extremely questionable to begin with and this one looks like they really had to shoehorn things to tell the same story.

I did notice that it seems to shift to heavy urban warfare rather than the forest partisan fighting of the original.

A Red Dawn remake with communist Chinese in place of communist Russians. The whole idea is a joke. I'm pretty sure were an invasion to ever happen the number of armed civilians in the north west alone would ruin their plans. (and yes, I need full auto for duck hunting)

Edit* apparently it's supposed to be North Korea (Asian guys and a red star.. my bad) other than nuclear they're no real threat.

Yeah no they still have gunships, armored vehicles, military training and all that jazz going for them. Would make it more costly though, that's probably true.

Anywho, this seems like one of the few actual quintessential "America: Fuck Yeah!" movies going around so I'm just shrugging it off.

Oh God.

Its like Fapping material incarnate for the Right Wing, NRA, and militas is it not?

Or anyone who forgets that the American's have enough nukes to turn China into a radioactive crater many times over? I mean:

Sub-Commander: Hey China invaded the entire west coast! Fuck those bastards!
And then a few million people die in nuclear fire, and millions more to radiation.

I mean honestly the American's are nothing if not prepared to take a horrific blow like that.
Sure you can invade, but you can kiss your ass, family, and country good bye if you did that.

Especially because of the ICBM's that carry mulitple warheads to.
I mean shit, nuclear war would happen to you.

I seriously doubt anyone in China really wants to say:
"Hey guys we invaded America!...and lost half our country to a nuclear bombardment!

Naa, full-auto is a waste of ammo (except for very limited defensive situations). Explosives, yes, we need those for "Duck Hunting". Tactical Nukes (small warhead designed for tanks and small buildings), yes, Those ducks are tricky.

Am I joking? Only partly.

I think it is very unlikely that another nation is going to try and invade the US. America is world renown for our "stubborn streak". However, it is better too be safe rather then sorry.

You seem to be the target audience for that kind of movie, you are to shortsighted.

Didn't it forget the tiny little problem of china's own nuclear warheads ?

In reality it would make much more sense to let them invade (shortterm) and kill some millions and then fight back (longterm) to get the country back.

No large scale invasion lasted very long. This way you "just" loose some million people, but if you start a nuclear war, the whole world is butt####ed.

I for my part find these militaristic masturbation aids very tiresome, who in his right mind would invade america, what is there to gain ?

I believe the target audience is male and has not even grow pubic hair.

Just another dumb patriotic war movie.

Wait. This seems more like Homefront than Red Dawn. So is this a movie based on a game based on a terrible movie? Because that is not good. At all.

Also, is that the same generic rock-y action movie from the Avengers trailer?

Also also, is it just me or is Chris Hemsworth's American accent totally cringey here?

Which, if recent history is to be believed, is not that much of an advantage. Just look at guerrilla warfare. A handful of dedicated citizens can make all the difference, no matter what their equipment is. A bullet from an AK-47 will kill someone just as much a bullet from an M4 carbine.
And what happens when you turn that handful of AK-wielding guerrilla fighters into an entire population? The Middle East is a great example of that. NATO hasn't been able to smoke out a group of ragtag Taliban who live in caves. And not a fortnight ago, Syrian insurgents seized the city of Aleppo, despite the military regime sending in the attack helicopters to stop them.
I don't believe there's a more powerful weapon than human determination. Couple that with a war fought on home turf and the enemy will never win based solely on the superiority of their armory.

It kind of easy to do when the guy who wrote the script for Homefront ALSO MADE RED DAWN! I mean, that was one of its selling points for crying out loud.

Guerrilla warfare is dependent on the invading force being determined to occupy or control the invaded territory.

If their goal is simple smash grab and burn, or genocide, then guerrilla warfare and is much less effective.
