Any bad reviews are strictly the fault of the single player. While I liked the story well enough some of the cut scenes were a smidge long, but my biggest complaints were the actual play itself. The game is so heavily scripted that at times I found myself getting game overs because I paused for a split second to get my bearings and figure out what I had to do next. Other times I reached my objectives long before my NPC allies and had to sit like a bump on a log for thirty or more seconds while they reached me and advanced the plot all the while being peppered by bullets.IBlackKiteI said:Yeah and it still got trashy reviews from everyone for being a good game.kouriichi said:Alot of the things that plagued previous COD games are gone.
Infact, the only one left is camping, and at times, its extreamly easy to get rid of that pest.
This, in my opinion, not only lives up to the hype, but completely surpasses it in some aspects.
What the hell is with that?
Anyways, awesome review, and the campaign is really not that bad.
To answer your questions, yes you can still drop to the floor, you can even take a diving jump if you're sprinting. There are still noob tubes as well, though I haven't played enough to tell if Scavenger will let you refill ammo for them (that's where noob tubes are really open to abuse).Nemesha said:Can you still drop to the floor and shoot? Yes and no - if you're moving at normal speed you can but if you're sprinting you do this running dive which you can't shoot with till you hit the floorNemesha said:Can you still drop to the floor and shoot? Actually, though the velocity of a bolt is far less than a bullet, the mass is far greater. Sure, it won't punch through a trauma plate, but ballistic nylon and kevlar (which is what composes most medium body armor) doesn't stand a chance. Also, when you fire a crossbow, you get a clack, and maybe some whistling. It's quieter than any gun at comparable range (<=1000 yards).Caliostro said:Since when is an explosive quieter than a gun? Most of the reason guns are noisy is because of the exploding gunpowder bit... Which is designed to propell a small piece of metal, and thus substantially less powerful (and noisy) than explosives designed to kill people by exploding.Ironic Pirate said:I don't believe they exploded back then. They also took minutes to wind up.
Yeah, real black ops use those. Quieter than a gun.
"Ranged" means aren't really quiet. Even with silencers guns are pretty noisy. The best bet is using a sniper at some decent range and going with noise masking.
I suppose a non-explosive crossbow (i.e.: NOT the one in this game) could avoid most of the noise, and subsonic boom, but I question both it's ability to pierce body armor at any decent range, it's ability to remain accurate at long ranges, and it's ability to get a quick (and silent) kill, instead of just stabbing someone who'd be screaming at the top of his lungs while bleeding to death.
But do they have the range and accuracy of pistols?Le Tueur said:The classified auto shotgun can be akimbo'dNecromancer1991 said:no akimbo shotguns here...

PC version is completely BROKEN.
And again the only review mag that has the BALLS to point this out and substract points appropriately, is Destructoid.
None of these are problems with the game I was given to review on the Xbox 360. Unless you're suggesting we review games we aren't reviewing in the review for the game we are reviewing?Duffeknol said:Let's see (PC).
-I can't play zombie with my friends. It's broken.
-NONE of my friends can play private matches.
-90% of the times clicking servers in the list doesn't do anything. Me and all of my friends have this same problem.
-The game stutters like an idiot (both sp and mp, and yes I have a pretty high-end pc that plays far superior games on max with no problems).
-Buy a new gun -> DOWNLOADING NEW GAME CONTENT -> 3 mins later it's done. And NO it's not my connection. I get like 40 ping in game max.
What an absolutely crap review. Go play the PC version.
Call of Duty - Beta Ops.
That's rubbish and you know it. This game was released on 3 platforms, and the performance of this game is horrendous on one of them. I understand you didn't get a PC version to review, but the least you could have done is at least mention the fact that (so far) it's nigh unplayable on one of the three platforms it's been released for. All you had to do is read the CoD or Steam forums for this game for five minutes to get an idea of the problems. This review, in its current state, is incomplete. PC gamers who read your review will think 'hey wow, the multiplayer sounds really great, let's go buy this game!'. They will end up with a broken beta version of a game that should NEVER have been released in its current form. You could've at least warned them.John Funk said:veloper said:Must be the xbox360 version then.

By that logic, all reviews of the Orange Box should have been based on the PS3 version.
The bolts explode, meaning they simply ripped off Far Cry 2: Fortune Edition Tomb Raider IV. That's right, elite black ops operatives took ideas from a woman made famous by her breasts.Fusionxl said:There is a crossbow in the game? Seriously?
