Must be the xbox360 version then.

PC version is completely BROKEN.

And again the only review mag that has the BALLS to point this out and substract points appropriately, is Destructoid.

Hmm so things are as you'd expect then?
Won't disappoint fans?
Adds a new currency/unlock system and a couple gametypes?
Where's the value? Is it worth full price?
-Currently AU$90 (which is actually $10-20 cheaper than most new titles here)
Or US$60. Strange considering the strength of our dollar in recent times....
I can pick the game up for the low low price of US$89.95 courtesy of Steam.
Thanks for looking out for us games industry!
Sounds more like some seriously fucking expensive DLC to me.
Every new Call of Duty from now on should have the words "Was it worth it?" inside the cover.

EDIT
Also, agreed with the dude above who mentioned the broken game people have been complaining about all over the internet since release day. Let me guess, just some disgruntled folk we should ignore?

Please don't be personally offended Mr. Funk, I'm just not satisfied with your review, to say my own strong opinions aren't getting in the way would be a complete fallacy. We all know this.

Can you still drop to the floor and shoot? Because that's one of the major flaws of Cod MW2, which I can't stand. Are there still grenade laucher attachments on weapons? God I hate tubers.

Alot of the things that plagued previous COD games are gone.
Infact, the only one left is camping, and at times, its extreamly easy to get rid of that pest.

This, in my opinion, not only lives up to the hype, but completely surpasses it in some aspects.
Yeah and it still got trashy reviews from everyone for being a good game.

What the hell is with that?

Anyways, awesome review, and the campaign is really not that bad.
Any bad reviews are strictly the fault of the single player. While I liked the story well enough some of the cut scenes were a smidge long, but my biggest complaints were the actual play itself. The game is so heavily scripted that at times I found myself getting game overs because I paused for a split second to get my bearings and figure out what I had to do next. Other times I reached my objectives long before my NPC allies and had to sit like a bump on a log for thirty or more seconds while they reached me and advanced the plot all the while being peppered by bullets.

To answer your questions, yes you can still drop to the floor, you can even take a diving jump if you're sprinting. There are still noob tubes as well, though I haven't played enough to tell if Scavenger will let you refill ammo for them (that's where noob tubes are really open to abuse).

Really? The multiplayer is right on the money?

What about the server issues Treyarch has addressed? The party problems? The large amount of lag? The temperamental spawn flips to right behind you?

Don't get me wrong I like the multiplayer but due to a lack of any open beta being performed (like WaW) there are so many issues that need fixed. I play with a crew I've played with since CoD4 came out and they all say the same things - "it feels like everyone is just trading kills at random" and "not worth the retail price"

Once they fix some issues it should be great but taking 20mins to find a lobby with constant party kicks is getting really old.

Yes and no - if you're moving at normal speed you can but if you're sprinting you do this running dive which you can't shoot with till you hit the floor

And noob tubes are still present but so far are pretty rare, plus they are expensive to buy. Not had any problems with them yet

Hmm at least that's an improvement. I can't stand people instantly dropping to the floor as soon as an enemy enters their screen.

I don't believe they exploded back then. They also took minutes to wind up.

Yeah, real black ops use those. Quieter than a gun.
Since when is an explosive quieter than a gun? Most of the reason guns are noisy is because of the exploding gunpowder bit... Which is designed to propell a small piece of metal, and thus substantially less powerful (and noisy) than explosives designed to kill people by exploding.

"Ranged" means aren't really quiet. Even with silencers guns are pretty noisy. The best bet is using a sniper at some decent range and going with noise masking.

I suppose a non-explosive crossbow (i.e.: NOT the one in this game) could avoid most of the noise, and subsonic boom, but I question both it's ability to pierce body armor at any decent range, it's ability to remain accurate at long ranges, and it's ability to get a quick (and silent) kill, instead of just stabbing someone who'd be screaming at the top of his lungs while bleeding to death.
Actually, though the velocity of a bolt is far less than a bullet, the mass is far greater. Sure, it won't punch through a trauma plate, but ballistic nylon and kevlar (which is what composes most medium body armor) doesn't stand a chance. Also, when you fire a crossbow, you get a clack, and maybe some whistling. It's quieter than any gun at comparable range (<=1000 yards).

Let's see (PC).
-I can't play zombie with my friends. It's broken.
-NONE of my friends can play private matches.
-90% of the times clicking servers in the list doesn't do anything. Me and all of my friends have this same problem.
-The game stutters like an idiot (both sp and mp, and yes I have a pretty high-end pc that plays far superior games on max with no problems).
-Buy a new gun -> DOWNLOADING NEW GAME CONTENT -> 3 mins later it's done. And NO it's not my connection. I get like 40 ping in game max.

What an absolutely crap review. Go play the PC version.

Call of Duty - Beta Ops.

Sounds like the same BS as the other CoD games. If I were to get this game, I can't wait for the part where my 40 kill streak ends because an enemy spawned directly behind me or I get killed a second after I spawn or the ridiculous amount of times I will die to the grenade launcher even though it is a horrible attachment.

CoD has always been the series I have been really good at; beating Veteran in a day, getting a 3.0 k/d in multiplayer etc, but never actually had much fun playing due to multiplayer's usual BS. Yet I always seem to get the next CoD game every year...I think I'll pass on this.

Haha! the biggest thing they added to Cod MP (something that many consider to be, almost, a drug) is a chance to develop Gambling addiction? the wager match modes look cool though. i'd try them if it weren't for my pesky, personal 'no gambling' policy. nice to see a non-'biased as shit' review, unlike the singleplayer review.

None of these are problems with the game I was given to review on the Xbox 360. Unless you're suggesting we review games we aren't reviewing in the review for the game we are reviewing?

By that logic, all reviews of the Orange Box should have been based on the PS3 version.

One thing I'd love to see Treyarch do is cross-pollinate their MP modes. Something like Domination or Capture the Flag with zombies, or power stations and the teleporters in regular ranked MP matches.

Glad that multi-player is apparently good. Although, I can't wait to hear Yahtzee scream his usuals about multi-player. Hehe.

That's rubbish and you know it. This game was released on 3 platforms, and the performance of this game is horrendous on one of them. I understand you didn't get a PC version to review, but the least you could have done is at least mention the fact that (so far) it's nigh unplayable on one of the three platforms it's been released for. All you had to do is read the CoD or Steam forums for this game for five minutes to get an idea of the problems. This review, in its current state, is incomplete. PC gamers who read your review will think 'hey wow, the multiplayer sounds really great, let's go buy this game!'. They will end up with a broken beta version of a game that should NEVER have been released in its current form. You could've at least warned them.
Journalism (which happens to be my major) always requires additional fact checking, even if it's just for a game review.

There is a crossbow in the game? Seriously?

Elite black ops operatives use medieval weaponry?
The bolts explode, meaning they simply ripped off Far Cry 2: Fortune Edition Tomb Raider IV. That's right, elite black ops operatives took ideas from a woman made famous by her breasts.

Too bad that the medieval bolts didn't explode, it would've made medieval warfare more interesting (although flinging plague bodies over walls during sieges wouldn't have been so prominent...).

Sad that the single player blows, I might have bought this.
