The old man shrugged as he hobbled away from the loud noises of the helicopter

"Not my department. You'll need to discuss it with the headmaster and the janitor once you all get to the school. Hell, I'm not even sure what we do with the bodies anymore..."

He sighed and shook his head before pulling out a crumpled up piece of paper from his shirt pocket

"Now then, onto bussiness...here is a map to the school. While your attendance at the school is not mandatory whatsoever it is the only place on the island with fresh food and water. Just follow the main road and it'll take you right there. Or don't go there. I don't give a damn, aheheheh"

The old man giggled

Jon smiled and took the piece of paper. Upon examination, it appeared to be a scrawl hardly worthy of the title 'map', but it was enough that he could work out where he the school was. Looking around, he spotted a few building, and what looked like a road.

Immediately he set off, not waiting for the others; his need was stronger now, and soon his craving would be too much; he needed at least a simple compound to keep the pangs at bay. He picked up his pace, hurrying toward the school.

"Hey, don't take off with the map you shit!" Joshua called out after Jon, but to no use. He turned around. "I guess we better follow that guy, huh?"

He was anxious to take off at any moment, but first he had to make sure the others were coming as well.

Looking at the map, Bro shrugged. "Might as well go check out what kind of place we be living in eh? Thanks for the heads up old gu- Hey!"

A person named Jon took the only map with him, walking off with haste.

Right, so that's how we're gonna play it. Better watch your back, "Jon". Because I won't be.

Seeing that pursueing Jon was out of the question, he decided to go see the city for now. He would eventually end up at the school anyway.

Brothanar started to walk, suddenly stopped and thought something over, then turned to the insecure individual called Aurore;

"Yo lass, you be staying there or go check out the place?"

Shouting behind him, but it didn't matter. Any mix would do, but he needed it now. The quickest mix, he knew, could be cooked up almost straight away, all he'd need was the bag of powder he kept in his shoe, a jug of water and a small does of organic compounds.

He tried to focus on hos to get them together. The hunger grew.

The Old Man chuckled as Jon and Joshua ran off ahead, before turning back to the others

"I'd suggest following those two. Larger groups often have a better chance of surviving than small splinter groups"

He pulled out a pair of aviator glasses from his shirt pocket and slipped them onto his head, his toothless grin once again on his face

"But I'm just a silly old man of course!"

And with that he turned around and started walking down the beach.

Meanwhile, a small compartment had opened underneath the TV on the Helicopter, the muzzle of a gun pointing through the slot at Casey

Nick looked at the growing distance between himself and the others, then back at the transport that had gotten him there, and craned his neck to see the girl who had remained silent the entire trip still sitting in the hold. He remained behind, to see if she would move or get shot, mainly out of morbid curiosity, but she would probably benefit from a helping hand if she did get out, rather than being left on a beach with no idea of where to go. Nick had gotten a quick glimpse of the map before the guy who had introduced himself as 'Doc' snatched it and wandered off, muttering to himself. He knew the school was somewhere along the road, and that would be enough for the moment.

David mostly ignored the people who were already heading out as he continued to scan the city line. He considered one of the things that the old man had said. David took a deep breath through his mouth before considering. The air seemed moist enough, not particularly dry. "Then there's probably some rainfall." He said half to himself. "Moisture collectors would also work." He looked out over the ruined and haphazard buildings. Surely plants would be finding places to grow, perhaps even animals; old vermin at the minimum.

David spun around pointing an almost accusing finger at the old man. "You are wrong sir!" He exclaimed then looked confused as he now noticed that the old man was already wandering off. Wondering about something new looked over at the other gathered students who hadn't started to move yet.

As Jon and Joshua approached the city, it soon became apparent that the former residents had not simply packed up and left by choice. In fact, it looked almost like Godzilla himself had stomped through the city, but the lack of footprints seemed to suggest other means. The lack of scorch marks seemed to suggest it hadn't been war or military related and the fact that a school was placed here ruled out radiation or poison in the air...so what caused the destruction?

The Main Road written on the map was easy to spot, with it being the only road leading out into the city directly from the beach and into the concrete jungle before them. Cracked with age and worn down from the weather, it was now little more than a shadow of its former stability.

The overall silence was shattered by the sound of a single gunshot coming from inside the helicopter and a soft rumbling could be heard as the chopper doors closed, the chopper itself raising into the air and out into the horizon...

Ignoring the old man in the rain coat, Luke spent the entirety of the man's introduction spitting out sand. Never did enjoy the beach, the sand was always to sandy.

With voices speaking in a far off world, Luke Hamill looked at his new home. Most of the buildings were in ruins and no one else is in sight.
What on earth happened to this place and why isn't it anything like the propaganda shown on late night programing?

As he was lost in thought, two of the deviants started to walk towards the city.

"Hey, what up for me!"

Nick saw the muzzle flash light up the area of the hold surrounding a small slot he hadn't noticed, and observed as Casey's body slumped forwards, the straps still done up. She wouldn't be dead instantly, the bullet had hit her in the chest, probably puncturing a lung, meaning that over the next ten minutes it would be a race of whether her left lung could keep getting her enough oxygen to prevent her from quite literally drowning in the pooling blood in her right lung, versus the blood pouring out of the entry and exit wounds in her body.

As the doors closed, and the chopper began to rise, Nick turned his attention back to the beach. The kid named Luke was running after the map, calling after the two ahead of him, while Damien and the nondescript looking guy seemed content to do very little, the idiot with the goatee was calling back to Aurore. She was probably too timid to voice any objections to going with him, so he strolled in that direction, aiming to keep an eye out for Aurore, as promised, and to keep an eye on the tall guy who hadn't given a name, because Nick didn't trust him.

Damien winced as he heard the gunshot. "Damn...guess they don't like laggards here." He shrugged. "Just means we have to move. I swear, I'm gonna keep a notebook about all this, if only to keep myself from going insane." He gently pushed Aurore ahead. "Alright, time t' move now if y'all wanna live." Damien started to run, catching up with 'Doc' and the others. He looked around. "Well... anyone else thinks we just made it to the set of a japanese moster mash?" He joked. "So, where are we on the map, Doc?" He asked.

The sudden sound of insane screaming was suddenly heard down at the beach. Two hulking figures could be seen coming from the opposite direction of where the old man had disappeared to, and the gap between the new 'students' and the charging shapes was closing quickly.

There was no telling what they were, but when you squinted your eyes it looked like two football players on steroids, wearing various welded pieces of metal shrapnel on there bodies. They were obviously intent on reaching the 'students' as they shifted course away from the shoreline and more inland, splitting up as one of them charged towards the group with the map and the other made his way towards the ones on the beach.

They laughed and screamed as they got closer, blood and sweat dripping from there bodies from the heat and from the way the disjointed metal scraps dug sharply into the chargers skin. If this had any affect on them however, it wasn't showing

Damien cursed. "Fuck, fuck, fuck fuck fuck!" He roared. He doubled over, punching himself in the gut while covering his mouth with his hand. He gagged as a switchknife slid out of his throat and into his hand. A quick swipe cleaned it on the ground as he straightened up, never stopping. He spun around and began to run backwards, taking aim. He threw the knife straight and true towards the metal man, hitting him right above the metal plate that protected his heart. Damien turned back around and began to run faster, pulling Aurore with him. "Yo, hurry up Doc! Where do we have to go? Say it quick, 'cause I don't have as many knives as normal on me!" He silently issued a prayer of thanks. "Thank you for that trick, Houdini."

"How did you do that? I would've puke'd it up a minuite after swallowing it."
Aurore began running with him so he wouldn't waste energy on dragging her. She looked back at the hulking American Football players.
How on Earth did they get so dammed massive?! They look inhuman!
She found herself moving faster.

Jon looked round as the screaming started, and froze, first in surprise, then in fascination. As Damien yelled, he looked round, and the spell was broken. "Down this road it the school; there's nothing to it 'cept running!" he remarked, running now to keep up with Damien.

Inside his head, voice muttered, Catch one, kill it, find out how it works. Who built this, how, with what? Stimulants or surgery, or both?

The hulking gaints slowed down as they got closer to the students, the bloodlust evident in there eyes as they closed in, there mouths wide with hysterical hyena laughter as they toyed with with there prey

The loud sound of a gunshot suddenly echoed throughout the island and a large bloody hole appeared where the stomach used to be on the closest of the two gaints. It howled in pain while the other made a quick turn, laughing at its fallen comrade. The wounded gaint was doing its best to cover the gaping gunshot, but it was doing little use.

A second gunshot was heard, this time sending the already wounded gaint tumbling into the sand, however it was still struggling to get up, even as the sand around it became red with blood.

A bright green flare rose slowly into the sky above one of the broken down sky scrappers in the distance, in the opposite direction of where the map said the school was.

One is down! laughed the voices, Now deal with the other

And with that, Jon was alone again, but he was by no means helpless. This thing was layered with muscles, but might be slowed by it's own mass. No way to tell, but it was certainly stupid; both, and whatever treatment it had undergone had only made it worse.

The scalpels in his pockets would be useless, and fear-tactics would do no good. However, the powered for his concoctions formed an acid when in water; normally he would dissolve the entire amount in two litres of water for safety, but if it were dumped en mass into the eyes and mouth...

Jon crouched, reaching into his shoe and drawing out the pouch. Pouring some of the powder out into his palm, he moved closer, then as the poor thing lunged toward him, took a deep breath and blew it out in a cloud which engulfed it's face.

It would only hurt, at this point, but hurt like hell. The thing screamed, lurched sideways and staggered backwards, but Jon gave it no time to recover, darting forwards and blowing another pinch into it's eyes before dumping the rest into it's mouth.

In another moment he was safely away, and only then did he realise he had just used all of his quick-mix batch, and would have to wait even longer for his next dose...
Sorry if that's overpowered/godmodding the monster...
As the one inhuman creature screamed in pain, the second one suddenly appeared behind Jon and wrapped its rather large arms around him, crushing him against the sharp metal that served as its armor.

A third shot rang out then, the sound of the bullet resonating against the creatures armor, causing it to drop Jon and stumbled back a few paces.

Luke, who was right behind Jon and Joshua before the hulking freaks showed up, is now running towards the nearest building to the beach. Cursing the entire way, he got to the run down, but still standing, building and ran into the building. With a swing of the door and gunshots in the air, Luke barricaded himself.

While not afraid to get his hands dirty, he knows when to stay and fight, and when to get out of Dodge. There is no way that he can take on a football player from hell.
