Now here's the bit to lead the discussion:
What would you do if music became illegal? Would you just go along listening to the accepted forms of music? Would you fight it? If you were to fight the ban, how would you?
There would be full on riots. And yes, I would fight it. Id fight in every and any way I could.

More seriously, I would just listen to it at a lower level. I want my metal, dammit!
And I'd hide in a shady part of town, filled with others who loved the same kind of banned music, and who all had very large guns.
If it ever happens, feel free to bring yer ragtag little group and hide out in my kitchen. Thick walls, office and loungey area in the basement, food, drink, and Amadeus. We'll bring the music back to the masses and fend off the corrupt elite side ny side and back to back! [sup]As long as I can still play my Dropkicks. If not, y'all're on your own. Besides, they could make it illegal, but they can't stop the signal.[/sup]
Woohoo!
Hiding with a giant freaking Chef!
That would be, in a word, EPIC.

I think that would be the best thing that could happen for music- nothing makes an artform more vital, or gives it teeth like the threat of extinction courtesy of establishment.

Tape a boombox to my back and ride on a golf cart along the streets blaring the best music I can find to make the people happy and liven up the chase that's about to begin, occasionally stopping to shoot at my chasers.

I would become a crime lord, selling people illegal music at illegal prices, and making an illegal profit for my illegal activities.

I just can't live in a world where all I could listen to was Nickleback and Black Eyed Peas.
I wouldn't suggest converting to orthodox Muslim any time soon..

ohhh man would i ever be mad. i would get me guitar, replace the body with an axe head. then get a small but loud amp and put straps on it so i could wear it like a back pack. so no i can play my heavy metal and chop heads at the same time yet still be mobile. then i would organize a resistance group and equip them likewise. and then......and we would fight

Whilst I do have a thing for classical music, if they got rid of metal and 80's classic rock I'd probably join you, but only if I could go out in a blazing glory, taking down some of the knee jerk liberal twits with me.

I would help lead the revolution, a Che Guevara in the background who is instrumental within the instrumentality of the secret club scene that will be cultivated but will not stick around for long to stagnate once the revolution has been expedited.
Performances and concerts would be held in large underground caverns (procured from nowhere once the revolution has begun) with recordings and listening devices disguised as shoes, fedora hats and things like speakers as refrigerators.

It'll be interesting. Its also kind of frightening because I can see it as a possibility with our increasingly "caring" nanny-state government.
