Uh, act like grown-ups for fuck sake. You're offended. Brilliant. So what? Nothing's changed - you're only drawing more attention to a film that absolutely no one seems to be legitimately interested in (no one who isn't against Muslims already, at any rate).

Saying you want the movie gone because it is an insulting piece of shit, fine I still don't agree with you but at least you have a point. But if you want the government to enforce something because the "sanctity of the holy prophet" is being insulted you try to force your believes on everybody else and that takes away your right to have a civilized discussion in my book.

You'd think people would have better things to do with their time than complain about something that only bigots consider legitimate criticism of Islam...

It's like protesting against the crazy homeless guy down the street because he called your mother a whore.

Well it's the first time I've seen anything peaceful to do with this whole charade so I'll take it.

I really don't get it. Are these people not self aware in the slightest? Don't they realise that all this petty complaining (not to mention the insane over reaction and violence at the US embassies) only brings about more offensive material and distaste of Muslims. Have they learned nothing from Everybody Draw Mohammed day?

Targeting Google is a clever move: If anything will force the West to abandon freedom of expression, it's the threat of having to use Bing.
I liked that XD

OT: Well good on them for not getting violent, if they want to protest peacefully then that is fine as long as they keep it peaceful then I respect them for doing so.

I don't think google should take it down or new laws should be made to make google take it down. It would lead to this new type of censorship removing video's criticising thing's that the establishment is not happy with under the guise of 'people's feelings'...for example; western intervention in the middle east because it upsets the families of UK soldiers.

2 weeks ago a young adult/teenager (who happened to be muslim)got a suspended sentence because he tweeted (or facebook status'd) that 'all soldiers should burn in hell'. I can't go into why one may agree with his statement because I may be arrested also...

I respect their right to prostest-although it is a bit ironic using your freedom to protest against the freedom of free speech, but I think they should be protesting over the unfair censorship of that young man

Now I think about it..it's double standards..someone insults a religion in a pretty bad away... then no UK law can make google remove it..but if someone insults soldiers with a spur of the moment status update they risk jail.

Once again I don't blame google..it's not their fault that UK law is hypocritical (or judges are twisting it), and if they were to remove it people would begin to use other sites.

Wow, i'm surprised how against Islam this thread is so far, next to no sympathy for them despite being offended whilst still acting peaceful in peaceful countries.
However all the fuss has now caused more people to become aware of this film and since I have some time, i'll also be watching it.

You know what would be an easier way to make this film go away, ignore it. He wants to insult my religion, fine, he's free too. And I'm free to do the worst thing I could do to trolls like him, ignore him, and that tends to silence the trolls a lot faster loudly decrying them and only giving them more attention.

This is hilariously stupid.
Get over yourselves and get in line. Christianity - wait, no, EVERY RELIGION EVER - gets made fun of on a daily basis by -EVERYONE- and people don't bat an eye. Learn to ignore nonsense like this which YOU MADE "NEWS" IN THE FIRST PLACE.

JESUS H CH-- Wait a second.

A peaceful protest in favor of limiting free speech is no more palatable to me than a peaceful protest to resist the right of women to vote or homosexuals to marry. I think better of you for not being violent about it, but not by a very wide margin.

Do religions really have nothing better to do?

...Fuck off.

No that's really all I have to say on the matter, go back to your respective holy buildings and do a crossword puzzle together.

Yeah...because getting a video off youtube means that it's magically removed from the entire internet and will never be seen again.

Apparently these people don't quite have a strong understanding of just how the internet works. Once something is on the web, it never goes away.

Well Ilias Kasidiaris does have a point... I mean assault is more peaceful than murder? At least I think that is the point he is going for.

Peaceful protest is a better way to go about this so while I do not like censorship I at least respect the people protesting in London.

I bet the maker of this film is damn pleased with the shitstorm it has caused.
Not really. He produced the film under an alias and when he was found out, he went into hiding. He's currently in jail.
Well, he IS damn pleased with the shitstorm he caused. If you follow up on who he is, who funded him and what his aims were, the entire point of the film was to cause a shitstorm.

Hence the whole "Dubbing what the actors were actually saying and replacing it with nonsensical anti-Islamic bullshit". Then again, my views are based on what the Guardian states on the matter (The money came from Angry Copts and ultra-orthodox Jews, both of which want to destabilize the post-Mubarak regime, which was the entire point of the film).

And he is in Jail for violating the terms of his parole, what with being a convicted fraudster who was barred from using a false name or using the internet.

But anyway! Stand up for the freedom of fraudsters and religious maniacs! Free speech without any limitations (Which doesnt exist, anywhere at all, not even in the states) is worth anything!

Wait...

What?

Just what?

You are complaining that a community is peacefully protesting? And you are blaming this group (Which is peacefully protesting) for negative material coming out about Muslims? What?

Sorry, I can understand the anger against the rioters and whatnot (Although that was blown out of proportion and those responsible for attacking the embassy were removed by other citizens, the entire militia was kicked outa town.) but you are seeming to say that those who are currently protesting peacefully are not "Self aware" and that this somehow makes them DESERVE the offensive material and "distaste of Muslims".

To use an extreme example which will get me accused of Strawmanning (Which is fine by me, cause I am about to level an accusation of Racism to Mr Carter.) You sound like someone sitting there going "Well, if you complain peacefully about being raped, dont you understand that it makes you get raped more and people just have a distaste for all you victims for complaining?"

Mr Carter. "At least four people". Technically true. I love how you reported purely on the deaths of citizens from "Western" nations. Did you just bypass the news from Pakistan, all the deaths and injuries caused whilst police tried to stop protests?

Or does it not matter to you?

Christians expect people to not desecrate statues or postings of Jesus. Jews expect people to not engage in Anti-Semitism. Muslims ask pretty much only one thing from us in the Western world, and that's to not show images of their prophet.
I have a question though.

What right does the religion give them to "expect" others what or what-not to do?

Christians expect people to not desecrate statues or postings of Jesus - they expect people not to, and only the most fanatical will start protests/riots about it.

Jesus gets openly mocked in media on a regular basis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESJh-AqMJaA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkPgYbdQ1kQ

Did you hear how the Christians retaliated by starting riots, wrecking streets, waving signs of "BEHEAD THE INFIDELS" or even peaceful protests? Of course you didn't. Christians generally don't give a shit when people mock their god/religion, because being an ex-Christian I KNOW the bible tells them to simply pray for the sinners, pity the ones who mock God and move on. Not to fucking kill them with bombs.

The same is true with most other religions.

Islam is the only religion where a huge chunk of them can be labeled as "fanatics" (due to brainwashing from a young age or whatever) and simply making a video mocking their prophet + uploading it somewhere is enough to cause MILLIONS of them to start rioting, bombing, killing and setting things on fire.

It's actually hilarious.

Someone once told me that Islam is a religion of peace & tolerance and just a few fanatics have ruined the world's image of what is supposed to be a peaceful, tolerant religion. Well that may be true but when shit happens like this on a regular basis what on earth is the world SUPPOSED to think about Islam?

Take for example, an apartment building. The land lords happily say "it's a very safe building!", but on a regular basis there is theft/robbery, walls that collapse, and fires that occur. How the hell can the owners keep calling it a safe building then?

Thus far the response to the film - which unfortunately goes way beyond the peaceful protests organized by MAF - has claimed the lives of at least four people, including US ambassador, John Christopher Stevens, and foreign service information management officer and EVE Online player, Sean "Vile Rat" Smith.
Whoa whoa whoa. While there have been violent protests in response to this film, yes, the attack on the US embassy was due to terrorism, and not this video. It's annoying that people still think that; at least those who wrote this article anyways. The white house has admitted this is due to terrorism and not this video. I really hope I stop seeing this associated with the embassy attack.
