I'm going to have to go with the AC130 for a couple of reasons:
First off, my harrier strike destroyed a chopper gunner before. It said I had taken out the gunship when I wasn't doing anything. Unbenounced to me, my hovering harrier shot down the gunship. Chopper gunners are too vulnerable. Nine times out of ten I see the chopper gunship get destroyed before it even gets to the map. Even predator missiles can take out chopper gunners. Yes the chopper gunner has one set of flares, but they will not protect it from a predator missile. Kinda pathetic on how easy it is to bring down a chopper gunner. They are too easy to bring down. AC-130s on the other hand are much harder to take down. Nothing can destroy them except missiles. AC-130s can also take down enemy air support (including chopper gunners). AC-130s are hands down the best for multi-kills also. For these reasons, I use the AC-130. And its a lot more fun!

It is an Apache, or a Hind if your on the enemy team.

The Black Hawk isnt in the game since its a troop transporter.
The C-130 was a general purpose cargo plane, but that didn't stop the enterprising engineers from installing weapons on it. Hell, the version in Vietnam had nothing more than a huge bank of miniguns - a few seconds of firing and the plane would unload enough ammunition to put one round in every square inch of a football field.

That said, you are entirely correct. You get an apache for "chopper gunner" or a hind. Cobra's are gunship support. The PAV-LOW is nothing more than an armored (which is a joke as far as helicopters are concerned - they can shrug of SOME small arms fire but not much) combat search and rescue bird. In all reality, it's direct combat potential is actually less than that of the blackhawk (equal weapons capability, less maneuverability).
Yeah, if anyone would know I would. I've practiacaly studied choppers.

But yeah, i was a bit confused when they put the MH-53 as the American Pave-Low, its just one big lumbering troop transport, sure you can put miniguns on it and shit like they did with the Vietnam era Huey, but its just too fucking big.

They probably should have put on a Black Hawk that was built up like crazy, it would have made more sence. But I do have to give them credit, the MH-53 looks pretty bad ass, its got a mean face to it.

The Hind however makes perfect sence, it was made to be a troop transport fixed with missiles and miniguns as standard.

What i would really like to see is a Sea King in some of these games, its completely overlooked when its one of the best helicopters to date.

I agree with you on the sea king.
But just so you guys know,
if we're the good guys we get:
-apache with chopper gunner
-super cobra with helicopter support
and with the bad guys you get:
-mi 28 havoc with chopper gunner (not hind)
-hind with helicopter support

I like the AC130. Even when someone ELSE gets it. It sounds really scary.
An unlimited ammo hacked game+AC 130 105mm+Being on the ground is like being shouted at by twenty banshees and an evil old woman.

I only really use the chopper gunner when I feel like getting a nuke. I find the AC130 more fun, especially seeing how enemies run for cover when they hear "Enemy AC130 above" XD. Chopper gunner takes all the fun out, even if you get more kills.

I prefer the Chopper Gunner. I get a lot more kills with it than the AC-130, I hate the reload time on the AC-130 too and the fact they seem to disappear after about 30 seconds. As for the Chopper Gunner being easy to shoot down I've never had one shot down, I should also point out I very rarely get them.

Neither, because I don't play MW2 anymore.

But when I did play, I saw an AC130 maybe once every 50 games. Maybe.

Almost no one didn't use the chopper gunner, it was so ridiculously overpowered.

If im having one of my "on" nights, ill get a chopper gunner at least once per map, sometimes twice.

I always choose the chopper gunner. It kills quick, and also it hovers lower, so you can shoot through windows on maps like terminal. I do get them shot down a lot, but usually that depends on my team. If they corral the baddies into one area, i can kill a ton easy, but if the enemies are all over the map,its hard to keep track of them.

AC-130 easily.

Its just fun blowing away my opponents especially if you have Danger Close Pro. (I usually kill about 6 guys per shot)

I hate how the Chopper Gunner hovers right about the enemy spawn point. It just seem unfair.

Depends on the map. On a big open map like wastelands you want an AC-130 to take out all the little dots running around in the big, OPEN field, whereas on one of the town maps or terminal or those you want a chopper gunner so you can go right up to the buildings and fire inside.

I prefer the AC130, people shit their pants once they hear the dreaded AC130 in the air, It certainly has more prowess about it anyway.

You only get 2 sets of flares with the AC-130, not 4. I'm fairly sure it only takes 3 Stinger missiles to shoot down.

I hate both of them, and I hate the goddamn nuke.

That shit needs to be banned from objective games, every second player is just camping for kills.

I prefer the AC-130. It's just so much more intimidating. I rarely use either though.

AC-130 on wide open maps and i feel its definitely more fun than the Chopper Gunner, but Chopper Gunner racks up more kills.

AC-130

The biggest gun destroys everything. Besides, it's nearly impossible to take down if you are a good shooter.

The Javelin is superior. Ground AND vehicle lock on? Yes, please.
Not quite, if you're going for shooting down stuff. Stinger has twice the ammo, faster moving rockets, and is all-round superior to the Javelin when it comes to anti-air purposes.

On Topic: The AC-130. Here's why:

-Way harder to shoot down, a smaller target, higher up, way more flares.

-The pilot isn't drunk, like with the Apache. What gunship pilot would ever hover 10 feet above the battlefield for half a minute?

-A selection of weapons. Some noobs only use the 105mm and complain about reload time, I cycle through the guns and get a constant stream of kills. 105 to take out multiple targets, 40mm for single targets, 25mm for indoor targets (bullet penetration). Hint: the reloaders yell "GUN READY!" when the 105mm is ready to fire again.

-It gets more kills. Everyone says that Chopper Gunner does, but good luck with that when you've been shot down 10 seconds in because your pilot drunkenly parked right over top of guys with Stinger missiles. Also, even the 40mm can get an easy double or triple kill.

-Way more badass, I have to say "ENEMY AC-130, ABOVE!" is far more fear-inducing than "Enemy Apache, incoming". The first whistle of the 105mm is enough to send the enemy running for the indoors.
