Actually, they're a tabloid magazine. So yeah, they're not the most reliable source for news.

They dont look like a particularly reliable source. However, i found out about it here, if you want a less tabloid-ish version of the story:

After reading this link I suppose the kids killed the sloth, became afraid that they'd get in trouble so they shaved it clean and then went to go get their parents and staged the whole story. As for killing it, being kids they probably threw rocks at it for fun and killed it by accident.

The second theory is that sloths are actually geniuses that play the slow and slow-witted creature against us humans so we don't find their secret civilization. They also found a cure for cancer like chemo, without any other side effects other than complete hair loss. After said treatment he went to take a stroll when the kids came upon him, so he tried to scare them away from the civilization by charging at them, they then proceeded to kill him. If this theory is true, the kids will be killed within the month as a means of blood feud.

They've killed Nessie!!! Well, they've also just killed of a lot of tourism for Scotland... Why did they kill it anyway? So that they can say they have single handedly wiped out a brand new species? (assuming it's not just some deformed Beluga whale or something.)

Yeah... The Sun is like that. It's basically soft porn for the masses. But this link will tell you all you need to know about British newspapers.

I never thought about that (apart from the nose and lack of teeth, it really looks like a sloth).

Regarding why the teenagers killed it, they may have just panicked due to what the creature looked like. The article doesn't state how fast it was moving either (the "as if to attack" comment suggests that it was seen as acting in an aggressive fashion, though).

I think they're lying. If you were that terrified, you're not going to touch the slimy corpse of that thing before running away. You'd just kill it and run.

Well, that's it. First contact has been made with the Mole people and we've only gone and killed the ambassador.

Hope you've all got your sinking city insurance up to date...

yeah, you can tell by its curved, hooked hands that it was a sloth. But who the fuck shaved it?!

I didn't think it looked particularly real, I can't see the link you've provided (work filters) but from the other pics I've seen around the internet, I dunno, it doesn't look like it was ever alive.

Isn't The Sun some kind of tabloid? They're definitely exaggerating this story a bit. It looks like a long-dead turtle or something.

They are a tabloid (they tend to be blatently bias about everything while having a tendancy to perpatrate moral panics as well).

I used to wonder why people were so upset about The Sun, I never believed it could be as bad as they said, I mean, if it were, no one would read it, right? Evidently I was wrong.

Probably a raccoon, just like the "Montauk Monster".

That's what I was thinking, but I'm pretty sure that this one is a little to big to be a raccoon.

Anyway, it looks kinda creepy, and I have no idea what the fuck to think about that.

With the recent thread about that Snake growing some sort of foot. This comes a close second in weirdness. Any ideas what it could be?

It's Dino from The Flintstones.

OT: That is pretty freaky. Still think snake with a foot is freakier.
